Spider-Man already has some pretty cool skills thanks to his spider powers, and now he has received a new one in a new story outside of the movies that was long overdue. The context is both sad and romantic.
Warning Spoiler: In the article, we reveal a new ability of Spider-Man from the comic “Mary Jane: Face It, Tiger #1.” If you don’t want to know about it, you’d better not read further.
The comic book “Mary Jane: Face It, Tiger #1” revolves around Mary Jane, the girlfriend and later wife of Peter Parker.
The volume tells three stories about her from different times. In one, MJ is already 60 years old and reflects nostalgically on her relationship with Peter. Because he is already dead, but before his passing, he developed a new ability that is nothing less than the ultimate proof of love.
One last message… but what a message!
What kind of ability is it? It’s strange. Spider-Man has the Spider-Sense, can climb walls, and fires organic or web-shooter generated webs.
However, Peter Parker cannot communicate with spiders and give them orders, for example. In comparison, Ant-Man can do exactly that with ants. He uses the most advanced technology in his suit and helmet.
Spider-Man now follows suit: In “Mary Jane: Face It, Tiger #1,” Mary Jane visits the grave of Peter Parker, who died in a hail of bullets. Above the gravestone, spiders have spun an elaborate web with the following words woven into it: “I love you.”
However, the spiders did not come up with this incredibly romantic idea on their own. Peter Parker instructed them to weave the web shortly before his death. By the way, the motivation to acquire this ability came from Mary Jane herself.
In the past, she teased Peter that in contrast to Ant-Man, he was not capable of talking to spiders – those little creatures that gave him his superpowers in the first place.
It probably bothered him so much that he did everything to establish direct contact with the eight-legged creatures. The plan succeeded and results in an annually refreshed web over the grave of Peter Parker.
The whole affair is hopelessly romantic, but also tragic, because it is clear: Peter and Mary Jane will not see each other again in this story. Yet the last words of the friendly neighborhood Spider recall the beautiful time they shared.
What do you think of the ability? Should Spider-Man have received it much earlier? It is practical, after all. Feel free to share your opinion in the comments. The new movie creates excitement: Spider-Man has apparently accidentally developed one of the worst weapons from the Marvel universe in Brand New Day.
