The Jedi Order is dead, long live the Jedi Order! In the cinema, it was already buried in Episode 3, now it rises again in a new series of Star Wars.

No fan of Star Wars will forget the images illustrating the fall of the Jedi Order in Episode 3. Palpatine’s Order 66 wiped out most, only a few Jedi escaped, some with cunning.
Although Luke Skywalker later rebuilt the Order, we have not yet seen him or an alternative version on the big screen or at home in its full glory. Until now, as the new anthology series Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi presents a new Jedi Order.
Ideals are more important than talent
What is the new Order about? The anime series The Ninth Jedi is about the Jedi Lah Kara, who is particularly talented and stands together with others against a warlord and Sith.
In the course of their actions, the Jedi found a new Order and thereby seal their unification. Lah Kara acts as the leader and thus follows her teacher, Count Juro.
Interestingly, for joining the Order, it is not so important to have great talent in the Force as a Jedi. Some members are significantly weaker than others, but can wield specially built weapons and use them to protect the ideals of the Jedi.
The new Order thus appears to be much more open and less strict than the old one during the Republic.
What is actually up with Rey Skywalker? Anyone who has paid close attention may remember that Disney is currently working on a film that deals with Rey. It is titled Star Wars: New Jedi Order, which is a clear indication that Rey will be striving to build one.
For three reasons, the two Orders do not get in each other’s way: Firstly, The Ninth Jedi is not part of the canon; secondly, the series takes place about 1,000 years after Rey’s time. Additionally, New Jedi Order has been stuck in production hell for years. Main actress Daisy Ridley stated in January 2026 to ComicBook that the wait would be worth it.
Since the film was announced in April 2023, more than three years have passed without significant updates.
Whether the canon will closely inspect and adopt the new approach to the Jedi Order remains to be seen. What do you think?
