With the Horadric Cube, Diablo 4 has received plenty of new possibilities, and surely not all recipes have been discovered yet. One combination grants you a special goblin item, but at a high price.
In the recipes for the Horadric Cube, there is the amalgamation, or in English: “Amalgamation.” With the recipe, you can combine multiple items of the same type into something new, such as trash into gold (yes, it works).
On Reddit, a user has found out that the amalgamation is even more powerful and can process items you wouldn’t expect: chaos reward chests from the Whispering Tree.
If you place five of these chests in the cube and activate it, you will receive a “Scroll of Captured Goblins.” This can even be further continued: five such scrolls result in a bag containing a random goblin (such as gold, oboluses, etc.).
However, a scroll only summons a goblin in a dungeon. Compared to the five chaos chests, this is rather meager loot, which is why the finder warns before using it. In the comments, others disagree.
The right path in the war plan can make things more rewarding
While many people are simply astonished by what the cube can do – after all, it is more powerful than most players know – a user chimes in: the scrolls can be worthwhile. But only with luck.
In the war plans, you have the option to skill in the nightmare dungeon tab “Greed is good” in the right branch (blue). The talent grants you the chance that a slain goblin opens a portal to the Goblins’ Refuge. And that’s not all:
Regular chaos chests are quite bad once you reach endgame, as they mostly contain normal, unsalvageable stuff. […] Once you have reached torment 8, most of it is trash. A goblin, on the other hand, is very likely to have valuable materials, regardless of which one you catch. Even the normal [goblin] probably has better rewards than a chaos chest.

Experience shows that regular chests from the tree are not worth it at higher torment levels. For a little more luck factor and a chance at good loot, a scroll for goblins might be more sensible.
