In Pokémon GO a new change will be tested in the coming weeks. The announcement is already causing some critical voices in the community.
Events are indispensable in Pokémon GO. There are always time-limited content in the game that provide you with monsters, raids, or bonuses.
While there are comparatively few events in May, Niantic wants to test a new change in the game precisely for these quiet phases and motivate you to play even outside of events.
Event for times without events
What is this change? The change involves the introduction of the so-called “Evergreen Weeks.” This is set to be tested in May in the game. The announcement for the change was communicated to the community ambassadors of the game via Campfire. In times when no event is taking place, there will be a limited, branched research for you.
You have to choose one of three paths: Exploration, Skill, or Battle. In each path, you have to complete different tasks and can benefit from a bonus until the end of the week, which depends on the chosen path:
- Exploration: more experience points through PokéStops
- Skill: additional catch candies for good, great, or excellent throws
- Battle: more experience points through raids
When exactly the first Evergreen Week will start is not officially known. However, there could already be the first test with this change on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, as there are no events taking place that week, except for the Community Day on the weekend.
What does the community say about this? On Reddit this change is not necessarily received positively. While some trainers would prefer to see old content like the Spotlight Hours again, there are also more critical comments about it.
