The developers of Crimson Desert have presented the DLC Charting the Unknown – and it continues where the main game left off.
Crimson Desert is one of the best and most successful games of 2026. While the open-world adventure from the makers of Black Desert has some rough edges, it compensates with its beautifully vast game world and the downright absurd offer of features, systems, and ideas.
Plus: The developers deliver incredibly fast and numerous free updates after launch, that the roadmap planned for 3 months was already fulfilled after just a few weeks. Recently, for example, a patch came out, that upgraded the game to the Enhanced version and included the German dubbing.
And on October 16, 2026, it continues! Paid, but once again with unimaginably many contents. At least that’s what the announcement of the DLC Charting the Unknown promises, which will be released on October 16 for around 25 euros. Here is the trailer:

What’s in the DLC? The official announcement of the DLC promises us new lands, but also seas waiting to be explored. We will set sail with our new ship, but also dive to find treasures and explore hidden ruins. With the jetpack or the help of a shark (new mount?!) we can also gain speed while diving.
The developers are also enhancing the game in other areas. We can rent and manage facilities. The housing seems to be even more refined with its customization options shown in the trailer. And it appears that romance options will also come to the game.
Of course, the DLC will also continue the story. The announcement states: “Everywhere in Pywel, new stories unfold – from a sinister presence in the desert and a dangerous political conflict to a journey beyond time and an ancient secret beneath the waves. Join Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane as they forge their own paths, find their destinies, and shape their fates.”
In the trailer itself, there are many more details to discover. Kliff appears significantly older in one scene. We can apparently create a castle from scratch. The camp can also be expanded. We can dive directly from our dragon into the depths in our new diving suit. There is a skill to walk on water. And we can expect huge bosses both underwater and in the air.
How does the community react? Many players continue to find it absurd how much the developers at Pearl Abyss invest to make Crimson Desert increasingly extensive and better.
