New content for Pokémon GO keeps appearing. A recent test shows an item that is a really strong addition.
Although there has been no official announcement from Niantic, several trainers are reporting on social media about a new item that has appeared for them. This is called the “Explorer Gadget”.
Based on the reports discovered by trainers, it can also be inferred what this item is intended for. And it could be a really strong renewal in the game.
Activate once, catch multiple times
What does the item do? As revealed by the current information from the respective trainers, the item can be activated in the game to automatically catch a certain number of Pokémon and spin PokéStops. It thus functions similarly to the GO Plus hardware gadgets, which also perform this task.
The Explorer Gadget is limited in the number of monsters and PokéStops. Current images on Reddit show both screenshots with a maximum of 30 and 35. Additionally, the item description indicates that it can be activated once a day.
It could be a strong addition for both casual players who don’t have much time to play and very active trainers.

When will I receive the item? So far, as mentioned, there is still no official information from Niantic regarding the item. It currently seems like a typical testing phase, where the item is being rolled out in different forms to some trainers in order to test it. This has also been done in the past with the GO Passes, which are now regularly activated for all trainers in the game.
When and whether the item will be made available to all trainers is still unknown.
