Professor Willow celebrates his birthday in Pokémon GO. To celebrate the day, there are exciting bonuses.
When is Professor Willow’s birthday? The professor celebrates his birthday on July 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. And if you look at the bonuses, it seems the good professor has planned quite a nice party!
What are the highlights?
- The first highlight is the new costume Pikachu, which serves as Willow’s assistant. Notably, the costume you see in the title image goes well beyond a simple hat.
- It can also appear shiny or with a special background. Basically, it appears in research, as a snapshot surprise, or in raids.
- The second highlight is likely the field researches, as they indeed bring Pokécoins as rewards.
In particular, the coin bonus is seen as very special, as usually you only get them by defending gyms – and a maximum of 50 per day. Alternatively, you have to buy them.
While it is still unclear how many coins you can earn here, the opportunity is definitely good.

Overall, the event seems to focus mainly on field researches. As mentioned, they bring you Pokécoins, but also lucky eggs or the new Pikachu.
Additionally, there is a limited-time research that will take place during the event. The rewards include:
