Diablo 4: Chat Gem, Black Mushroom and Liquid Rainbow - What are they good for?

In Season 15 of Diablo 4 some strange items have returned. Their function is currently a mystery. MeinMMO has compiled what you need to know about them.

Chat Gem

The Chat Gem was mainly a joke in Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 and has since become a running gag in the community. However, it behaves a bit differently in Diablo 4, which raises some questions:

• Can be socketed like normal
• Then shows various notifications
  • “Chat Gem Activated”
  • “Chat Gem Deactivated”
  • “Perfect Gem Activated”
  • “Mooooooo”
• If you leave it socketed, the gem “chats” with you about various hellish topics, but in a monologue
  • You cannot respond
• Sometimes the gem spits out cryptic number sequences in the chat
  • The currently most unclear part of the gem
  • Players observe that the numbers keep getting smaller and do not repeat
  • No one knows what happens when it eventually goes to 0

Black Mushroom and Liquid Rainbow

Similarly, it is with the materials that were once used for the Shepherd’s Staff. In Diablo 4, there is currently no solid evidence that the staff can be crafted, as the community is still missing components and a recipe.

Players are looking for other materials that were usable for it before. Therefore:

• Leoric’s Shinbone
• Wirt’s Bell
• Babble Stone (Could this also be the Chat Gem?)
• The recipe for the staff

However, the staff was meant to unlock the secret level Whimsyshire, which can also be accessed in Diablo 4 through random portals. If the staff can be crafted, then the question arises, what the staff is good for in Diablo 4.

The Strange Items and Their Origin

What are these items? In Season 15 of Diablo, all kinds of iconic items from the predecessors are currently reappearing:

Meanwhile, players are particularly celebrating the season. On one hand, because it hits their nerve just right and is finally fun again. On the other hand, because they can indulge in fond memories and meet old friends who can stay even after the season: Diablo is finally in Diablo 4 and players want him to stay
