In Diablo 4 you can get equipment items for your Oboluses from special merchants. However, players say: One of them is cheating you.
Who is cheating the players? With Lord of Hatred, Skovos has been added as a new area in Diablo 4, and Temis is its capital where all the important merchants and entrances to activities are located. Many players like the layout of the city, and it has become their new main hub. There, they spend their Oboluses at the Curiosities Merchant to get gear. However, players now feel that something is off with this.
In a thread on Reddit, a player writes that you can no longer get uniques through gambling in Temis, but you can in Cerrigar. Over 2,200 users agree with him by upvoting.
Other users also report in the comments that they have not received a single unique for their Oboluses in Temis at high Paragon levels (over 250) – and this, despite Oboluses dropping en masse since Season 13. Some suspected that the option for uniques at the merchant has been completely removed, until they received some again in Cerrigar.
How do players explain this? Players in the Reddit thread have various hypotheses for the absence of uniques:
- Since a tooltip states that you can obtain uniques and mythics from the Curiosities Merchant, the merchant in Temis might simply be bugged.
- The Curiosities Merchant in Temis has different dialogue, so she might be programmed differently.
- In Temis stands the Horadrim Cube, with which you can basically craft uniques for yourself. However, the area and the cube are part of the paid expansion. Players who only own the base game will thus have to obtain uniques easier elsewhere – namely through gambling in the other cities.
We took a quick look at the Curiosities Merchants in three cities during a small test run. We did not receive any uniques, but some inherited and GA items. While there were more inherited items in Cerrigar, we received more GA items in Kyovashad. In the end, the Oboluses were not enough for a full inventory:
