A player waited a long time in Palworld before gathering the courage to enter a nature reserve, only to realize that it isn’t that bad.
What kind of island is this? In Palworld, there are many different places, and it is often not apparent how strong the opponents there are. Particularly, the islands in the game can be a real challenge, as endgame opponents await at places like Feybreak and Sakurajima Island.
A player, however, was long afraid of another island on Reddit: the nature reserve 1. Early in the game, one must catch a certain Pal for a quest there. While we won’t mention the exact circumstances here for spoiler reasons, the mission very clearly sends you there.
But the island is surrounded by a large barrier. The player understood this barrier as protection from intruders like him and did not dare to enter until he reached level 62. However, he is something completely different.

A misunderstanding leads to laughter
What is the barrier really? The barrier is actually a technology meant to adjust the climate zone of the nature reserve. Players can therefore simply step through the barrier and access the island. It is not possible to deactivate this mechanism, contrary to what some players might have thought.
On the island, however, one must pay attention to one thing: guards. The nature reserve is essentially forbidden for Pal-catchers and is monitored by both guards and drones, which will give you a WANTED level if you are caught.
Especially in nature reserve 1, the guards and drones are still distributed and sparse enough that with a bit of caution, one can easily engage in combat with the Pal for the quest.
How do the other players react to the new information? The player is not alone in his assumption on Reddit that he first had to do something to get through the barrier. Many players agree in the comments:
- AppleEatingMonster: “….. YOU CAN JUST WALK IN? I’m level 46 and thought I had to disable the barriers, probably raid some ancient ruins and defeat a boss or something.”
- Carp3l: “I thought the hacking/puzzle towers had something to do with lowering the barriers.”
- Kipdid: “That’s just an air conditioning system, not a barrier, lol.”
- Lolsyo: “I had the opposite experience, lol. I probably went in earlier than I should have (maybe around level 10–15 for the first time), which was fun. No need to say that I almost wet myself when one of the drones caught me for the first time.”
- mikebones: “That was a surprise and a completely different experience than getting grilled by the oil platform or whatever it is out there.”
