A player has GTA 6 received for free and has used bonus points that you probably almost forgot about.
Who is it about? The Reddit user CarolinaKing704 shared a screenshot showing that he bought GTA 6 only with bonus points. He states that he has been collecting for more than 3 years to be able to buy the game.
This was only possible due to the numerous delays by Rockstar Games themselves, because without them the purchase probably wouldn’t have been completely free.
Here you can see the game world of GTA 6 from a new angle:
Microsoft Rewards provides free GTA
What points has he spent? To buy GTA 6 only for bonus points, the player diligently collected Microsoft Rewards points. The Microsoft points system rewards various activities like searching with Bing, playing games on Xbox or the Xbox app on the computer, and completing quests on Xbox.
Collecting is quite tedious, as you only earn a few cents per day, which you then have to accumulate to be able to buy such a large game as GTA 6. The player needed 3 years and probably actively collected points during that time.
For comparison: MeinMMO author Cedric Holmeier used the Gamepass for 3 years and occasionally played something there. He only collected 1,237 points.
How do other players react to the purchase? The fact that you can buy GTA 6 solely with Microsoft bonus points excites the fans. On Reddit, they write:
- swaste2000: “I saved all my points just for this game. I have 146,000.”
- DeadlyMobility: “Congrats on grinding; collecting points worth 99.99 dollars is no small feat. You basically converted months of daily searches and quests into a free copy of what could be the biggest game launch in years. Hopefully, the actual game lives up to the three-year wait.”
- Daveger4: “Nice, I have 53,000 points and will use them for this game.”
Where can I see my points? If you want to check whether you can buy GTA 6 just for bonus points, you can find all the information and also your point balance on the website of Microsoft.com, even if you never consciously collected.
According to Microsoft, points expire if you do not earn or redeem points for 12 consecutive months. However, it is unclear how many you need to redeem to keep them or to extend the deadline:
Unused points linked to your rewards account expire if you do not earn or redeem points on your rewards account for 12 consecutive months.
Have you ever bought something big just with bonus points? Feel free to comment below! The marketing campaign for GTA 6 is currently launching, but it leaves fans yawning: GTA 6 starts its marketing campaign, which is so boring that fans are immediately requesting Trailer 3
