The advertising campaign for GTA 6 has started and shows for the first time a real advertisement for the game. However, it is so boring that fans are directly calling for Trailer 3.
What kind of advertisement is this? Weeks ago, it was said that the advertising campaign for GTA 6 would start in the summer. Now it is clearly summer, and the campaign is starting.
But instead of directly starting with Trailer 3, the developers have aired a different video as the first advertisement. As Reddit user GPoussonTV posts, Rockstar Games is currently running the cover art reveal as an advertisement on TikTok.
For the record: It is the video that simply shows the box art and the game’s release date. While we could find 33 details in it that you probably missed, this video is not particularly “advertising”.
Here you can watch the video:
No “real advertisement”
Why is this not considered a “real advertisement” by players? Although Rockstar is running the video as an advertisement on TikTok and is spending money on it, many players feel that the advertisement does not go far enough to be considered a real advertisement. The cover art reveal shows no in-game or even render scenes.
You learn nothing about the characters and don’t see anything else from the game. It is merely a reminder that you can now pre-order the title. For hardcore fans, this is clearly too little, as they explain under the post on Reddit.
What are the fans complaining about? Fans can only chuckle at this “advertisement” and wonder when Rockstar will finally start the real advertising for their blockbuster. They write on Reddit:
- No_Film_3849: “Everything, just not releasing the third trailer.”
- fpsi_tv: “Somewhere out there, there must be a video editor for the third trailer who is completely flipping out due to the pressure to finish the cut.”
- Plane-Education4750: “Why aren’t they finally showing us the darn game?”
- Prestigious_Wait7705: “Making advertisement with cover art is ridiculous when they could instead advertise with new clips or a trailer.”
Why Rockstar Games is only advertising with the cover art is unclear. However, it is conceivable that they are specifically targeting those interested in GTA 6 to encourage them to pre-order. This type of advertising is probably enough as a reminder. However, new players who have had no interest in GTA 6 so far cannot be won over this way.
