Warframe can be quite overwhelming for beginners. To make it easier for you to start or return, we have gathered some tips for you.

On December 10, 2025, the new update “The Old Peace” was released in Warframe. In the accompanying story quest, our Warframe takes a look back into the past, at a war fought long ago between the Orokin and the Sentient. There is also a new Warframe, Uriel, a new weapon type, and 2 new game modes.

With the new update, the player count of Warframe on Steam skyrocketed. If you are one of those players but are just starting with Warframe now or returning after a long break, we have some tips for you.

Tip 1: The Right Handling of Platinum

At the beginning of the game, you receive 50 Platinum for free: Do not spend the 50 Platinum on cosmetic content or similar but rather invest them in Warframe and weapon slots. These are limited and need to be expanded using Platinum.

If all your Warframe slots are occupied, you cannot add any new Warframes to your lineup and may have to acquire new slots with Platinum as a last resort.

Bonus Tip: If you want to buy Platinum, wait for discounts – you can get them in-game now and then. However, Platinum discount promotions are only valid for a short time. Don’t take too long to decide; otherwise, you will miss out on good offers.

Tip 2: Utilize the First Game Hours Properly

First, complete the star chart. This takes time and can be tedious, but it will unlock various planets and new missions and give you the chance to obtain important materials, Warframes, and weapons.

Tip 3: Don’t Forget Syndicates

As you progress through the game, you will unlock what are known as Syndicates. These are factions you can join. Once you have joined a Syndicate, you can earn reputation with that Syndicate and rise in their respective ranks.

At higher ranks, the Syndicates promise various rewards like Warframe mods. So choose a Syndicate that offers interesting rewards for you.

Bonus Tip: You can increase your reputation with the Syndicates almost effortlessly by “stamping” their insignias on your Warframe in the appearance menu and then just playing normal missions.

Tip 4: Effectively Increase Mastery

In Warframe, there is what is called a mastery rank. You need this rank, for example, to unlock certain weapons.

To increase your mastery rank, you need to earn mastery XP and then complete a mastery test for promotion to the next higher rank. You earn mastery XP by completing missions for the first time on the star chart and leveling weapons, Warframes, etc. Therefore, it is advisable:

Do not sell weapons that are not yet level 30. Level 30 is the maximum level, and you want to reach this with all weapons to increase your mastery rank.

Bonus Tip: If you fail a mastery test, you will have to wait until you can try the test again. However, there is a way to test and train for mastery tests beforehand. You can then start the correct test attempt when you are sure you can pass the test.

Tip 5: Don’t Waste Rare Items

Orokin Catalysts (for weapons) and Orokin Reactors (for Warframes) are rare but important items that you use to increase the mod capacity of weapons and Warframes. Since these items are so limited, you should definitely not waste them and use them selectively. So use the reactors and catalysts only on Warframes and weapons that you really want to use long-term – preferably in the endgame.

Tip 6: The Endo Grind

Mods for weapons and Warframes are a fundamental mechanic of Warframe that you will eventually need to understand in order to get the most out of your Warframe – but there’s no rush, you’ll have plenty of time to deal with it later.

However, you should think early on about the resources you may need for your mods later in the game.

A basic resource is “Endo.” You spend this to increase the rank of mods – for example, so they provide you with a higher damage boost. To save up Endo early, you should always sell excess mods for the valuable resource, because you will NEVER have enough of it.

Bonus Tip: You can do an Ayatan treasure hunt with Maroo on Mars once a week. You can then sell these treasures for Endo to Maroo – Ayatan stars within the treasure increase the value. This is a good method to get juicy Endo financial injections relatively early in the game.

Tip 7: Snatch Your Teammates’ Loot

Do not play relic missions for the prime parts of a prime Warframe alone. Each player receives their own mission reward, but you can choose which item you want at the end of the missions. If you don’t want your reward, you can take a teammate’s reward. However, this does not disadvantage them; each player can choose the same item.

Tip 8: The Right Movement

Practice the bullet jump and learn to chain multiple jumps together. The bullet jump is a movement executed by crouching and then jumping, propelling your Warframe forward. If you press the “crouch” button again after a bullet jump, your Warframe will slide and is then in the right position to perform the next bullet jump.

Once you have mastered the bullet jump and use it when crossing maps, you can move significantly faster – and that is very advantageous during the long grind of Warframe.

Tip 9: Quick Money

If you want to farm credits, play Dark Sector missions. Here you can earn up to 20,000 credits within minutes without boosters. The mission “Coba” on Earth is suitable for beginners.

Coba is a classic horde/defense mode. You must survive waves of enemies or defend a specific point against those enemies. The mission provides you with slightly less money than the top credit farms, but it is playable early in the game. Also, it is suitable for newcomers, as the first waves do not present a challenge, and you can regularly extract if you notice that it is becoming too difficult for you.

If you are already a bit further in the game, the Seimeni mission on Ceres is recommended.

Bonus Tip: In the first mission you play each day, you receive double credits. So always start with a Dark Sector mission at the beginning of each game session.

Tip 10: An Important Merchant

Be sure to visit Baro Ki’Teer. He is a merchant who sells rare artifacts and valuable items. Baro is basically like Xur from Destiny 2 and regularly changes his location and inventory. He only appears every two weeks for 48 hours. So when he is around, you should visit his stand and see if he has something nice for you to sell.

Tip 11: Automated Resource Farming

You can farm resources automatically and without your own intervention. For this, you need so-called Extractors. Extractors are drones that you build and can assign to a planet on the star chart once you have completed all missions on that planet. However, how many extractors you can deploy depends on your mastery rank.

Tip 12: Secure Exclusive Blueprints

Join a clan – even if you want to play solo. By joining a clan, you gain access to labs that offer clan-exclusive blueprints for weapons, Warframes, and resources.

Tip 13: No Power to the Warframe Scalpers

Ignore the trade chat as a beginner. You probably have no idea about the market and item prices. Often, items are offered above the market price, and as a beginner, you may not yet be able to estimate what is worth what. People want to take your money, so avoid the market until you are familiar with the prices.
