Diablo 4 constantly faces criticism that players find it too boring in the endgame. Some fans of earlier installments explain that it might be due to the expectations: those who expect progress like in Diablo 3 are stuck on the wrong point.
This is the criticism of the endgame:
- Although Diablo 4 offers several endgame activities, especially frequent players get bored roughly starting at level 80.
- They criticize that there is not enough variety: those who want to make real progress must complete nightmare dungeons.
- At the same time, it becomes nearly impossible to obtain improvements starting around level 70. The highest item levels can already be attained here.
This is what players say: On Reddit and other platforms, the topic comes up again and again. However, hardened fronts often collide, with little objective explanations, on how the endgame can still be fun for frequent players.
In several threads, another hint has now emerged from fans who have apparently been playing Diablo for a significantly longer time. There, players advise: don’t rush to level 100. That’s when the game ends; the endgame starts much earlier:
Too many people expect a Diablo 3, where you quickly reach the maximum level and the endgame doesn’t really begin until then. That’s the complete opposite of what they are doing in Diablo 4 now. Your character is nearly complete at 75 and fully complete at 100.
One should treat Diablo 4 more like Diablo 2. There, 99 was the maximum level, beyond that, it simply didn’t continue. Once the character is finished, you can either polish your build further or do something else.
With Season 1, gameplay should return, but there are still critics:
“At a certain point, your character is finished”
Even critics often agree, that Diablo 4 is quite fun up to level 75 and only becomes tedious from there. However, that is exactly the point, as some now explain: they have never played to the end in Diablo 2 and will not do it in Diablo 4 either.
The actual endgame starts at level 50. From here, many new possibilities arise that contribute to making the character “complete”:
- Paragon begins and you can unlock boards and glyphs to optimize builds
- World Tier 4 comes into reach for the best items
- Nightmare dungeons can be mastered at ever higher levels to eventually obtain the coveted Uber Uniques
Some users even believe that there has simply been an unfortunate choice of designations here. If level 50 had been the maximum level with 200 Paragon added, it would have stifled most complaints immediately – even though it’s not really different now.
Other users argue that this system is not a problem for them at all. When they finish with one character, they move on to the next or experiment with different builds.
Blizzard itself keeps adjusting the endgame. The nightmare dungeons have already been completely overhauled and with patch 1.1.1 additional mechanics are supposed to be adjusted. The patch will be released on August 8.
In addition, the seasons every 3 months, in which players can explore new stories and mechanics with fresh characters. In just the first week of Season 1, over 7 million new characters were created.
