The short comic series Infinity Gauntlet was the rough template for the movie Infinity War, but Thanos is somewhat more effective and brutal in the comics. Here, he manages to annihilate half of the universe with the Infinity Stones and the Gauntlet – even though his motives were less substantial here.
Most other heroes and even villains like Doctor Doom confronted the overwhelming titan, but they didn’t stand a chance against him. Thor also attacked, and Thanos managed not only to fend off Mjölnir with a finger, he turned the God of Thunder into glass with his Infinity Stones and shattered him effortlessly.
Thanos seems even more overpowering here than in the MCU, and he could only be defeated because Nebula snatched the Gauntlet in a moment of inattention. After that, the supervillain still helped the heroes to stop Nebula – an eternal cycle.
