Aegon’s Conquest
Release: Unknown
Aegon’s Conquest is a prequel that is set to take place even before the events of House of the Dragon. Aegon’s conquest of Westeros is one of the most important events in the Game of Thrones world. It solidified the Targaryens as the royal family, significantly influencing world history.
It is still unclear whether Aegon’s Conquest will be a film or a series. However, it is known that the project is in pre-production, meaning it is in the concept phase and the writing of the script. More information about Aegon’s Conquest can be found here: Aegon’s Conquest: Release and Trailer – All information about the upcoming “Game of Thrones” spin-off
Nine Voyages
Release: Unknown
Since 2021, there have been reports that HBO wants to produce an animated series in Westeros. The project is supposed to focus on the Sea Snake, Corlys Velaryon, who is already known from House of the Dragon. He is played by Steve Toussaint there.
Not much is known about the series, and so far nothing concrete has been announced. According to a report from Deadline, it is rumored that Genndy Tartakovsky is working on the project. He worked on series like Samurai Jack and Primal.
Sequel to Jon and Arya
Release: Unknown
Although the Jon Snow spin-off did not develop satisfactorily, it is said to not be completely off the table. The Hollywood Reporter reported in January 2026 that, according to unnamed sources, a sequel to the story of Jon and Arya is in the works, which is said to have developed from the Jon Snow idea.
This spin-off is said to still be in a very early conceptual phase, and Quoc Dang Tran is said to be working as a writer on it. However, this has not been officially confirmed by HBO or Tran.
10,000 Ships
Release: Unknown
10,000 Ships has reportedly been in development for a while as a spin-off. It is supposed to be about Nymeria, who fled with her people from Rhoyne to Dorne about 1000 years before the events of Game of Thrones, after a conquest by Valyria.
There have been reports for a long time about the project, which is said to be live-action, and it was considered dead. However, in 2024, George R. R. Martin revived the rumors after congratulating the writer Eboni Booth in June 2024 on her pilot for the series on his blog (georgerrmartin.com). What has happened since then remains unknown.
The Golden Empire
Release: Unknown
Even more mysterious is the project “The Golden Empire,” which is also set to be an animated series. The series is supposed to take place in Yi Ti, a location in the east of Essos. It can be assumed that Yi Ti is heavily inspired by the Chinese empire.
Not only is Yi Ti within the universe mysterious, but there is also little information about the project. In his blog (georgerrmartin.com), George R. R. Martin last mentioned the project in 2022. There he confirmed that such a project exists and that they have a young author for it. However, there has been no further information since then.
All spin-offs of Game of Thrones that have been canceled
Snow
Release: No longer in production
As the name suggests, Snow was meant to continue the story of Jon Snow, which ended with Season 8 of Game of Thrones. It was supposed to tell his life beyond the Wall. However, Kit Harington himself confirmed in 2024 (Source: Screen Rant) that the project was paused due to not developing satisfactorily. However, this does not mean that Snow could not still be produced in the future.
But don’t celebrate too early. Most of the spin-offs mentioned here were never officially announced by HBO, but are or were in an early conceptual phase, so it is unclear whether they will ever be released.
