The developers of Path of Exile 2 need to nerf the loot in the temple because the place is so good that it jeopardizes the entire economy.
What is being nerfed? Even before the current season Return of the Ancients, the Vaal Temple was introduced in the previous season. This place allows players to build a temple full of traps and dangers themselves.
The idea is simple: The deadlier the temple, the more loot there is. However, clever players have figured out early on how to build the temple so that it yields a damn lot of loot. There are extremely rewarding room combinations with which one can farm incredibly valuable resources and equipment in no time.
Already in the previous season, the Vaal Temple triggered hotfixes from the developers who had to intervene because the place was simply too good. Now the developers are intervening again.

Less Loot in the Temple
What is changing? As the developers of Path of Exile 2 announce on X.com, they are nerfing the temple again. Players have apparently found extreme ways to pack the temple with loot again, requiring intervention.
In their message, the developers explain: “Unfortunately, we must significantly restrict some of the optimization options that the temple offers. This will happen in a hotfix in the coming hours.”
The temple itself will likely remain as familiar. However, the factors that influence how much loot drops will be changed.
How are players reacting to this? Players of Path of Exile 2 welcome the changes. Many players seem relieved that these extreme ways of value creation are now coming to an end. On Reddit, the relief is expressed as follows:

That the economy will be particularly important this season is true. The developers have already prepared the fans for the fact that “Return of the Ancients” will be the last season before the full release and might take a bit longer accordingly.
With the hotfix, the economy of Path of Exile 2 is protected. However, to complete the temple, you need a good build.
