Even the official artists of various key arts, designs, and illustrations at Bungie have spoken out. On XCancel, the entire art team thanks the fans, for without them, the artists would never have been able to create such a beautiful world as Destiny. The update “Monuments of Triumph” is meant to be a love letter to the community – with many things to look forward to. We have translated the entire message from the team into the gray box for you – feel free to expand this if you want:
Message from the Bungie Artists
To the Destiny 2 community,
Thank you.
As artists, our goal has always been to create worlds full of wonder, mystery, beauty, and adventure. But you are the ones who bring these worlds to life. You take our designs, our sketches on napkins, and our “Wouldn’t it be cool if …” ideas and turn them into something real. Your creativity, passion, and love for the game give our work its meaning.
We have always believed that Destiny can be a place where self-expression is celebrated, where players find themselves and each other in the worlds we create, and where every Guardian can forge their own legend – and you have proven that.
To see your Guardians grow, find new allies, defeat ever more powerful bosses, solve tricky puzzles, evade deadly traps and the charges of the Hive, and master every raid challenge we throw at you – while also looking fantastic – has always reminded us why this universe matters.
You have shaped it. You have given it meaning. You are the light of Destiny.
With “Monuments of Triumph”, we wanted to create a series of love letters for new and experienced Guardians. Last week we already gave a preview of armor inspired by early designs from the original Destiny; furthermore, we incorporated some small references and hidden details into the rewards that will be released tomorrow. We hope they feel like a small thank you for everything you have given us.
On behalf of the entire Destiny 2 Art Team: Thank you for supporting us, inspiring us, and continuing to breathe life into this world in a way we could never have imagined. You give our art meaning.
In gratitude,
The Destiny 2 Art Team

Just yesterday, we reported that the voice actress of Ikora Rey thanked the community for the wonderful years with Destiny 2 and now your Guardian has personally spoken up.
Peter Jessop, the voice behind the male Guardian, whom many should also know from Destiny 1, appeared in front of the camera and spoke many touching words about the shared journey through Destiny with the community.

Good morning Guardians, and welcome to our probably last live ticker for Destiny 2. Who would have thought that our loot shooter would eventually come to an end… But here we are now. So let’s not fall into sorrow and celebrate this evening properly with other Guardians. I can’t wait to dive into the huge amount of content – it’s about time we got an SRL after all these years, right?
What happened to Destiny 2? After almost 12 years, Bungie is halting development of its loot shooter. Destiny 2 is set to go into maintenance mode after today’s release of the major update “Moments of Triumph”.
No major DLCs or seasons are planned for the future. Also, a Destiny 3 seems unlikely at this point. For many, it means the end of an era, as the loot shooter offered unmatched gunplay and a deep story that could captivate players.
Whether the story of the Guardians will be continued at some point is unclear, but for many, that matters less today. The Guardians are making arrangements for this evening to celebrate the shooter and to embark on one last quest for the best loot with their fireteam. Join us as we also check the servers tonight and enjoy the evening with you.
When does update 9.7.0 start? This is a major update. Here are the times you should keep an eye on (source: Bungie Status):

- Start of downtime: 14:30
- Duration of downtime: 4 hours and 30 minutes
- Preload start: 18:00

- Xbox One: 36.70 GB

- Epic Games Store: 27.18 GB
- Microsoft Store: 35.80 GB
What content does “Moments of Triumph” deliver? The upcoming update offers a huge amount of content that will be free for every player. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Return of the SRL: The popular Sparrow Racing League from Destiny 1 is making a comeback.
- Pantheon becomes permanent: The boss rush mode is returning permanently and will include bosses from previous raids that were in the content vault.
- No more artificial loot scarcity: No more weekly loot locks. Loot pools for PvE and PvP have been completely overhauled, and old favorite weapons are returning.
- New catalysts: 25 new exotic catalysts are being added.
- Revamping of vendors & currencies: Glimmer Engrams can be targeted (no more duplicates). Chronologs are being introduced as a new fixed currency.
- The last season pass: A final, endless season pass without an expiration date with plenty of cosmetic rewards will be added – with a free track.
- Sandbox & ability adjustments: New aspects will be available for all classes, including grenades for Strand and Stasis.
- Nerfs to abilities: The passive and active cooldowns for abilities and supers have been noticeably increased to focus more on gunplay.
- Distortions make patrols exciting again: Various target locations will receive the “Distorted” modifier hourly, changing the map and its enemies and increasing loot.
- Adjustments for Strike & Gambit: Strikes will yield more scrap and remove resurrection tokens. Gambit will also receive a button on the star map for quick access to the activity – the Hive, bring a sword!
These were all the important details for the upcoming release of the final update for Destiny 2. How about you? Will you also venture onto the servers and say goodbye to the Vanguard one last time, or do you prefer to watch the spectacle with one of your favorite streamers? Here you will also find something nostalgic for the meantime: Destiny 2 is coming to an end – Do you remember the 10 best moments of the franchise?
