Bungie is once again removing content from Destiny 2. But instead of protesting angrily, players are glad and hope it never returns.
On June 9, 2026, the Monument final update for Destiny 2 was released. After that, the loot shooter entered maintenance mode. This means that there will be no new content updates, and the developers will only maintain the game services. The servers will continue to run, but only a few severe issues will be resolved.
However, a problem has now caused Bungie to remove content from the game indefinitely. This has been a sensitive topic in the Destiny community since the expansion Beyond Light was released in 2020, as Bungie at that time removed content that players had paid for from the game permanently and placed it in the so-called Content Vault.
This time, however, it is different: Players are glad that the content is gone and hope it does not return.
Unpopular Map removed from the Crucible
What has Bungie removed? On July 31, 2026, the team behind Destiny 2 announced on X that they were removing the map Disjunction from the PvP mode Iron Banner due to issues with zone placement in the sub-mode “Fortress.”
A few hours later, the map was finally to be completely removed from the Crucible:
“Due to issues found on the Crucible map Disjunction, we will remove the map from additional Crucible playlists. Players can still access the map in Private Matches.” – Source: X
According to players on Reddit, a bug led to zones A and C being at the same place, giving one team a constant advantage when capturing the spot.
It is currently unclear whether the map has been permanently removed from Destiny 2 or is only removed for the time it takes to fix the issue. However, players interpret the developers’ post as a permanent “goodbye” – and also hope that the map does not return.
Why do players think this is good? Disjunction is extremely unpopular in the PvP community of Destiny 2. Many players are very glad about the removal of the map. One user comments: “Thank goodness. Please keep it out.” Another writes: “Gone forever, I love it. Worst map in FPS history.”
However, some players also point out that this is a sad sign. Some fear that content with serious bugs will now just be removed (permanently) instead of fixing the problems.
