One of the biggest YouTubers on Destiny 2 is no longer interested in the loot shooter. Starting in August, he will be accompanying a new game.
Who is it about? The YouTuber and Twitch streamer Datto has been with Destiny since the very beginning and discussed E3 appearances, trailers, and even concept art before the release. Later, he added guides and useful information about the various contents of the game, including explanations on how to unlock new weapons or how the mechanics of a raid work.
Over the years, his channel has grown to become one of the largest channels producing content about Bungie’s loot shooter. Today, the Destiny expert has over 1.2 million subscribers on YouTube, 2,519 published videos, and according to Socialblade, over 557 million views. On Twitch, he has similar success with 807,000 followers and an average of over 900 viewers (via Sullygnome).
Now, after many years, Datto has announced his retirement from Destiny.
This is changing now for Datto: Datto announced in a post on X that he will stop playing Destiny and creating content for the loot shooter starting August 18.
Afterwards, Datto will switch as a content creator to Deadlock, the upcoming MOBA shooter from Valve: “Deadlock will be my new home for the future (besides Varierty),” he explains. More details will be revealed on August 18.
Deadlock is a third-person perspective MOBA with shooter elements and has been playable in a limited capacity for about two years. However, an official release date is not yet known, although the game already offers a wide range of content, including 38 playable heroes.
This is how the community reacts to Datto’s decision: A large part of the community finds it truly sad that Datto will no longer accompany Destiny in the future, calling it the end of an era.

Datto was a consistent participant with his team in the World-First races of a new raid and regularly achieved top placements.
