Some fans are willing to pay a high price when it comes to their favorite franchises. A buyer acquired an original animation cel from the anime Dragon Ball about 3 years ago, which shows a particularly iconic scene.
What is this special image? The cel, which is a hand-drawn sheet for the production of the series, depicts an emotional moment from Season 4 of Dragon Ball Z, specifically from the Boo Saga.
The image shows Majin Vegeta, just before the moment when the proud Saiyan prince sacrifices himself to save his family and the Earth from the villain Majin Boo.
This image has such enormous emotional value mainly because it highlights Vegeta’s character development. Previously, he is a ruthless villain who seems to have no emotions or compassion for his comrades.

No wonder that a fan paid a lot of money for this original image. But it is truly astonishing how high the sale price really is.

Never before has so much money been made from a single auction of an item from Dragon Ball. In second place is a production drawing of the legendary scene where Son-Gohan fights Cell. In comparison, it only brought in $11,000 (~€9,500).
