What makes the game stand out? Once again, we have an MMORPG that has been inspired by the genre classics of past days. And the developers seem to have successfully transported the strengths of the great predecessors into the year 2026. In the Steam reviews, the comparison to the first Ragnarok Online keeps coming up again and again.
SpiritVale also relies on a deep class system with learnable specializations, motivating character progression, and simple monster grind. In addition, it features a fair payment model. While there is an in-game shop besides the purchase price, it only contains cosmetic offers.
This mix obviously appeals to many genre fans. Since the early access launch, SpiritVale has seen increasing player numbers. The all-time high on Steam is a strong 20,253 simultaneously active players – and that was on a Monday.
Not surprisingly, the servers are struggling with such a surge in players. Additionally, many troublemakers seem to have entered the world through the initially provided demo – that’s why the developers have temporarily disabled the demo.
These issues currently lead to a rather mixed average rating on Steam. However, don’t let that discourage you. The basic gameplay experience is supposed to be perfect for anyone looking for a motivating grind.
