What is The Eminence in Shadow about? Cid Kagenou dies and is reincarnated in a medieval fantasy world in the best isekai manner. For him, this is the fulfillment of his dreams, as there is magic in this world. Here he can finally realize his dream and rise to become the Shadow Eminence – the mysterious puppet master in the background who guides the fate of the world and is always one step ahead of both heroes and villains.
Why is the protagonist evil? Cid Kagenou, or “Shadow,” often acts childish and without much thought for the consequences. Even though he helps many people, ultimately, he is only concerned with increasing his reputation as a Shadow Eminence. To do this, he not only kills ruthlessly but also enjoys committing war crimes just to collect “style points” – such as detonating a nuclear explosion in a city simply to prove his point.
