Rank 5: Dark Sister

Dark Sister is one of the two legendary swords that House Targaryen brought from ancient Valyria to Westeros. It was thinner and more elegant than a regular longsword, and was presumably forged for the hand of a woman.
The first known wielder of the sword was Queen Visenya Targaryen, the older sister and wife of Aegon the Conqueror. She was a fearless warrior, dragon rider, and responsible for the establishment of the Kingsguard.
On his 13th birthday, Visenya gifted the sword to her son Maegor, who was already an outstanding swordsman at a young age. However, in doing so, she overlooked her elder son Aenys, who was considered frail and soft, but nonetheless was the official heir. Many interpreted Visenya’s gesture as a direct attack on Aenys’s position, further undermining his authority. The sword was a direct harbinger of the war between Maegor and his brother that would later follow.
Three generations later, Dark Sister fell into the possession of Daemon Targaryen. In the prequel series House of the Dragon, we see, for example, how Daemon masterfully wields the sword in battle on the Stepstones.
Later, during the time of Game of Thrones, Dark Sister is considered lost. However, in the books, it is said to be in the cave of the Three-Eyed Raven, whose human form was the last known owner of the storied sword.
