Destiny 2 is dead and the future of the franchise is uncertain. But now there is a video where you can experience the lore of the shooter, even if Bungie eventually takes down the servers.
On June 9, 2026, the final update for Destiny 2 was released. Afterwards, the looter-shooter entered maintenance mode. A Destiny 3 is currently not in development.
The options for Destiny fans to pass the time are currently quite limited. If you spend your free time watching the player numbers of Marathon (Bungie’s latest game) on SteamDB or hopelessly waiting for a successor to Destiny 2, there is now a video you can watch instead – or in the meantime.
12 years in 11 hours: History lesson on Destiny
What kind of video is this? A month after the end of Destiny 2, the well-known YouTuber Evaze released a video summarizing the complete story of Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 over the past 12 years.
Evaze has around 307,000 subscribers on YouTube and is known for his detailed lore videos on Destiny. The latest video on his YouTube channel is nearly 11 hours long and covers everything related to the franchise: the various factions, the Dark Age, the events from both games up to Monument of Triumph, and much more.

The 11-hour summary is well received by the Destiny community. Many players thank him for the effort and are looking forward to watching the video. Many state that it helps them follow the lore – especially since a significant part of the story ended up in the content vault and was lost.
However, on Reddit, some are hoping that the YouTuber “My name is Byf” will also release a similar video. While Evaze is considered very concise and gets to the point in his videos, Byf is seen as more theatrical. Some simply prefer this style of storytelling, although they do not want to deny the quality of Evaze’s videos.
