The last major patch of World of Warcraft Midnight has been leaked – by Blizzard itself. A classic.
It is a story where you immediately think: “Typical Blizzard.” Because in the upcoming Patch 12.1 Curse of Ula’tek, a small detail has snuck in that already spoils the final patch of Midnight for us. It’s another leak triggered by Blizzard itself.
What has been leaked? Although the upcoming Patch 12.1 is currently being tested on the PTR, a detail from the next major update, Patch 12.2, has already sneaked into the game data.
Information about a new Fame faction called “Radiant Core” has been discovered.
An icon has also become known: The icon shows a blue-yellowish crystal that clearly looks like the material Azerite – the lifeblood of the planet. In the background, there is crystal that looks strongly like diamond.
What does the icon and the name mean? The most obvious explanation is that the “Radiant Core” is a faction of Earthen that has been transformed from Azeroth into diamond – the legendary “Thraegar”. We have already heard about them in The War Within when Magni was believed to be such a Thraegar.
The Thraegar have regained their free will from Azeroth, so they are no longer bound by the Titan’s instructions. Since then, they have been working to free Azeroth from its prison of the Titans.

What happens in Patch 12.2? Even though we don’t know the exact story yet, we know from the leak of the Radiant Core and the description of a cinematic from Patch 12.1 that Xal’atath is on its way to the World Core, where the final patch will also take place.
Orweyna suspects that Xal’atath does not simply want to devour Azeroth, but rather “wants to become it” – essentially taking over the World Soul and thereby fulfilling the planet. This would make her the most powerful being in the cosmos. This is indicated by the data mining from wowhead.
What is still uncertain? Even though the leak already reveals which location we will travel to and which grouping we will meet there, it is still not entirely clear how the events there will turn out.
It is possible that Xal’atath will succeed with its plans and ascend to the World Soul herself. However, it is also possible that Azeroth awakens in a panicked, disturbed state and begins to cleanse the entire world – including the players. It could be the biggest, world-changing event that WoW has ever seen. This would also align with another leak that predicted exactly this ending for Midnight.
