Azeroth will find an end. That is what a leak says about World of Warcraft, which seems quite credible.
The World Soul Saga is said to conclude an era of World of Warcraft. But how exactly that could look was not quite clear until now. Now a new leak with considerable credibility is causing a stir and says: We will be fighting against Azeroth.
Where does the leak come from? The leak originates from last year, specifically from August 2025, when most of us were frolicking on K’aresh. A Reddit user casually explained what else would happen in the World Soul Saga.
Why is the leak trustworthy? The person who made this statement is “5thYatch”. Some might already know the name, as he also published the last major leak – a supposed timeline of upcoming WoW expansions and other games in the Warcraft cosmos. This leak is now considered credible by almost everyone. This, in turn, lends the leaker a certain credibility for other statements. The leaker’s account has since been deactivated.

What does the leak say? The leak comes from an old Reddit post, where 5thYatch responds to a post about K’aresh. A user speculates that K’aresh was only created later and was not originally planned for The War Within. In response, 5thYatch states:
That is correct. The next expansion will revisit the story of the Black Blood / Azeroth as the final Titan, who will then awaken and seek to purge the planet (including the players) – the last expansion will conclude it, as we must kill Azeroth to restore her. Then we move on to WoW 2.0.
What sounded like a far-fetched idea back then gained more significance after the correct leak. But how could that look?
This is the assumption: The currently most plausible theory is that Xal’atath largely succeeds with her plan and can corrupt Azeroth – although not completely. The World Soul then awakens as a confused, angry monstrosity, trapped between the hunger of the Void, the ingrained desire for order (from the Titans), and its own wishes. The World Soul begins to eliminate all negative influences that have manipulated it so far – it tries to do so for the entire world and defeats the Titans who want to stop it. It is literally “the last Titan” and will ultimately be overcome by the players and the united forces of the world and sent back to sleep. In doing so, it loses a large part of its power.
The analyst Bellular also draws attention in his latest YouTube video to another detail that fits well with this story. The 3rd expansion of the World Soul Saga is titled “The Last Titan”. Most believe that it is referring to Azeroth, yet Azeroth is never referred to as such in the game. In the game, her title is always “The final Titan”. This may seem a minor difference, but the distinction between “final” and “last” is that “last” can also be interpreted as “the last survivor” in this context.
This, in turn, would mean that all other Titans are defeated and killed during the expansion.
The credible leaks to Classic+ from 5thYatch were also discussed in a major talk by GameStar and MeinMMO:
What comes after? After the end of The Last Titan, it is highly likely that what has been predicted in many places will take place: a sort of “reset” of World of Warcraft, concerning themes and power levels. Some call it “WoW 2.0”, but it will not be a completely new game, rather the storyline will take different directions.
Once the World Soul of Azeroth as a major element has been dealt with, most cosmic powers are unlikely to be concerned about Azeroth anymore – at least not to the extent that has been the case in the last 11 expansions. This gives developers an opportunity to establish a new status quo for the world and refocus on more localized stories. Such as the Arathi Empire in Avaloren, Queen Azshara and the Naga, or simply other problems arising from conflicts between Horde and Alliance, mad mages, or completely new characters.
Keep in mind that all of this is primarily an unconfirmed leak and speculation – even though they sound very plausible.
Cortyn says: I love diving into such theories, and I find this one quite plausible. World of Warcraft needs a reset of powers. For almost 20 years, one threat has always followed another, growing larger each time, which has taken on increasingly absurd proportions, so we are now battling against Void Lords and Titans. Taking this spiral to the maximum – that is, the fight against one’s own World Soul – seems to be the logical step to be able to start anew afterwards.
I like the current story and look forward to experiencing it – but I am equally curious about what World of Warcraft will make of a world where not all cosmic powers want to descend upon Azeroth anymore. That offers potential for many new stories, but also the risk of insignificance. I am curious. And you?
