After the success of Fallout, Amazon will soon launch the next adaptation of a popular video game. Everything you need to know about God of War can be found here.
What is God of War? Contrary to what the name might suggest, this is not a new title in Sony’s video game series, but rather an adaptation of it in the form of a series.
The focus is on the reboot that shows Kratos within Norse mythology. This is not about Kratos within Greek mythology, as showcased in the first three games.
When is the release of God of War? A date for the series premiere has not yet been announced. This is not surprising, as filming has not yet begun. According to Nexus Point News, filming is expected to start in March 2026. Therefore, a release before 2027 is rather unlikely.
Is there a trailer? Unfortunately, no trailer for the series exists yet. However, Amazon has released a first image of the series showing the protagonists Kratos and Atreus.

God of War: Episodes, Stream, and Cast
How many episodes does God of War have? The first season is expected to have 10 episodes. A second season has already been confirmed by Amazon.
Who is streaming God of War? The brand comes from Sony, but for the production, the Japanese company has partnered with Amazon MGM Studios. Therefore, the series will be exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video.
Who stars in God of War? On July 16, Deadline reported that Ryan Hurst will no longer play the role of Kratos after he sustained an injury during filming.
God of War is nothing new for him as he has already been part of the games: In God of War Ragnarök, he played Thor and was even nominated for a BAFTA, the British film award that has been recognizing games for several years now.

Who else is involved in God of War? Behind the scenes, Ronald D. Moore is taking care of the series as showrunner. He is also an executive producer and part of the writing team. In his career, he has already worked on series, notably Battlestar Galactica and the Star Trek franchise. The latter will soon receive a new series aimed primarily at young people.
God of War: All about the story
What is God of War about? To the disappointment of some fans, the series tells the story of the reboot from 2018 and leaves out the old games along with Greek mythology.
The story follows the hero Kratos, who lives with his son Atreus in Midgard. Together, they set out to the highest mountains to scatter the ashes of Kratos’ deceased wife. The journey is a difficult test for both and presents them with numerous challenges that help them grow character-wise.
It is to be expected that the first season will cover the first game, and the second will eventually focus on God of War Ragnarök. If there are any updates on the series, you will find them here.
