In some side quests of Monster Hunter Wilds, you need to find and capture certain endemic creatures. One of them is the Dapperwing. What you need it for, where to find it, and how to catch it, can be read here.
What do I need the Dapperwing for? The side quest is given to you by the NPC Samin in the base camp of the Windebene. To complete the quest “Samin’s Research Report,” you need to capture a Dapperwing. To get the quest, you must have first completed “Dareel’s Research Report.”

Best location to find a Dapperwing
Dapperwings are at home in the Karmin Forest. You can most easily find Dapperwings in area 6:

They usually sit on branches and can easily be overlooked due to their green color:
How do I catch the Dapperwing? Once you spot a Dapperwing, you need to equip your net, aim, and the bird will land in your net if you haven’t startled it away. Sometimes, the birds may fly around, so you need to be patient or catch them in mid-air.
Tip: They are more colorful during abundance
What can I do if I’m having trouble finding the bird? If you’re having trouble spotting the Dapperwing, you can also set the season to “Abundance” because then their colors are brighter and more noticeable.
How do I set the environment to “Abundance”? You can do this either in your tent or at your grill using the “Rest” function. For this, you need to invest 300 guild points.
