Sometimes, just a detail is enough to experience failure in World of Warcraft. Even a small comma can cause chaos.
Visiting a dungeon in World of Warcraft can fail at many points. Sometimes someone accidentally pulls the wrong mob, sometimes the tank loses aggro, sometimes the healer is sure that “the heal was actually done”, and sometimes the DPS players are calmly standing in deadly fire. But something much smaller can lead to failure: a missing comma.
What happened? The player Weak_Hedgehog2507 showed the community a screenshot of the discussion with their group. The timer during the dungeon apparently was not met, and the group discussed the mistakes. The shaman noted that “the communication was not good”, to which the druid reacted completely incomprehensibly, believing that their statements were clear.
In the conversation, it became clear that the druid evidently thought that “lust” should be activated – this is the short form of “Bloodlust”, known in German as “Kampfrausch”. One of the most powerful buffs in the game that can only be activated every 10 minutes.
During the respective boss fight, one of the players likely asked whether to save Bloodlust for the next boss. The druid’s reaction was:
“no lust this boss”
A statement that led to significant confusion.
Group misunderstands due to grammar
Both the shaman and the caller decided not to activate Bloodlust. After all, the direct interpretation of the statement is: “No Bloodlust for this boss”.
The end of the story: A small comma would have made the instruction clear. Because then it would have been “no, lust this boss” and there would have been no misunderstanding at all.
However, the druid was not pleased about this and complained that one should not expect “punctuation during a key” and then kicked the person.
Here are the reactions: In the WoW subreddit, people are having a great time over the incident. It is an experience that many have had when the leader of a group believes they are in the right – when they are not. Accordingly, the comments reflect this:

Of course, the classic comma example from many schools is also included, which receives a quite peculiar meaning without a comma:

Even if it is not so easy to write something in chat in the heat of a stressful “Mythic+” dungeon, clear communication can work wonders. However, it is important to know that reading and writing skills among younger generations have significantly declined. A larger societal phenomenon, as we now know.
