If you want to succeed in “Mythic+”, you need more information in World of Warcraft than the game is willing to provide. That is about to change.
The success in Mythic+ in World of Warcraft depends not only on skill and good gear but also on the amount of information available to players. Therefore, various addons can help provide a slight edge that players without these addons do not possess. This is a thorn in the side of the developers, after all, WoW should also be playable well without these interface extensions. For this reason, there will be an adjustment in the upcoming patch that will make Mythic dungeons easier.
Addons still provide advantages, but they are getting smaller
What is changing? In Patch 12.1 Curse of Ula’tek, all enemies in Mythic Keystone dungeons (“Mythic+”) will have an additional display in their tooltips. With the patch, you can see at any time how much percent progress defeating each enemy brings. This is important because you need to defeat a total enemy strength of 100%, in addition to the bosses, for a dungeon to count as successfully completed.
How was it before? Currently, most players rely on various addons to display these values accurately in the game. This is a clear informational advantage that could only be gained through interface addons until now – something Blizzard has actively tried to combat since the start of Midnight.
Even though many addons have limited functionality or have been almost completely disabled, such as the famous WeakAuras, many still rely on various interface extensions to secure advantages.
Cortyn says: Since the group I primarily play with rarely sticks to the optimal routes from the internet, this feature is quite convenient for us. We often run our own routes and try to figure out how much is still missing more or less spontaneously. This occasionally leads to quite stressful situations where you find out after the final boss: We’re still missing one percent, but time is running out. If you can’t see at a glance how many points a group or a single enemy gives, it quickly becomes daunting. Not being reliant on an addon makes it easier. It’s a good step that reduces the need for addons.
Mythic+ becomes significantly more accessible as a result. This is a sensible addition that should be just as well received, like marking enemy groups for tank beginners, allowing them to keep a solid route in view without having to memorize it.
