In Path of Exile 2, loot is at the top of the list. More and better loot means even stronger characters that can grind even more and better loot. It’s particularly frustrating when you just die as a good item drops.
Who is it about? On Reddit, a desperate player spoke up. He was apparently engaged in the favorite pastime of all “Path of Exile” players: grinding.
The player shows a screenshot of a defeated boss enemy and an item before him: a unique jewel, more specifically, a unique diamond. The problem, however, is that the player’s character likely died at the same time as the boss.
Thus, he cannot loot the rare item anymore, because upon respawning, he would spawn outside the map and could no longer enter it. Concerned about losing his diamond, he turns to the community, which has some creative solutions ready.

Items can be saved
How can the item still be saved? With his call for help on Reddit, the player seems to hit the nail on the head of the community, as they know his pain all too well. Accordingly, many players come forward with their tricks on how to save items in this case.
One player on Reddit suggests inviting a friend to the group to loot the diamond. But this doesn’t work for unique jewels like in this case.
Another player knows a better trick. He explains that the defeated player should not click “Respawn,” but instead return to character selection. Then he can go onto the same map with another character and loot the item.
This is probably the best way, especially since it doesn’t require help from other players.
How did the player finally solve it? The helpless player did end up getting his diamond. He asked a friend to join the group and revive his character. This allowed him to resurrect and loot the unique item.
While players in the comments are happy about the successful rescue, there is also a funny idea that the developers could implement instead of the workaround. The player “Bacon-muffin” suggests on Reddit that defeated players could crawl very slowly across the ground and loot.
The Path of Exile community once again shows how helpful they are and how one can emerge from difficult situations. However, they wish for the next update not only that downed players can crawl across the ground, but also an important change that is at the top of the request list: Players demand one thing for Path of Exile 2, saying everything stands and falls with it
