Path of Exile 2 faced many issues at the launch of its Early Access, and many of these problems still exist today. Step by step, the studio is addressing them, and even though 2025 is nearing its end, a final major update is expected to surprise players.
What has been announced? In a new post on pathofexile.com, the community team from GGG reports on new plans for Path of Exile 2. The developers had announced that both hack-and-slash games would run simultaneously and provide new content every 4 months. Path of Exile 2 has almost surpassed its next 4 months, and fans are wondering if an update will still come at the end of 2025.
According to the team: Yes. A new update is in the works, and it is set to be released in early December. The developers can hardly wait to show you the new features they have developed. A livestream is also planned, but a date is yet to be announced.
For many, this could be a reason to celebrate, as every major update fixes issues and brings features to the game that fans have long hoped for. “Issues” is a good keyword, as there are a significant number in Path of Exile 2.
Path of Exile 2 still needs to find itself
What problems are bothering the fans? Aside from the fact that Path of Exile 2 is still in Early Access, there are significant issues that have dampened the enjoyment of many fans for some time. Above all, the performance on consoles, which is abysmal. Some players report severe stuttering in packed maps that are responsible for one or another death.
Another problem is the game’s identity crisis. GGG’s plan was to create a tougher and slower Path of Exile, leaning towards Dark Souls. As far as movement is concerned, the developers have surpassed themselves, but the endgame leaves much to be desired.
Few are enthusiastic about the towers that influence the maps, and now, with the change of the way stones since the “Rise of the Abyss” update, the system reminds one of the scarabs from the predecessor.
Many are wondering to what extent Path of Exile 2 will stay true to itself when GGG aligns the latest changes to resemble its predecessor. Path of Exile 1 did many things right, but if part 2 simply adopts older ideas to become better, GGG could have given part 1 a new movement system and a graphic update.
It remains to be seen what the developers have planned for the future. Perhaps fans can look forward to a new class soon, as the druid almost made it into “Rise of the Abyss,” but the studio was not satisfied with its animation. Therefore, it has been postponed.
Are you excited about the upcoming league of Path of Exile 2? Just in time for the holidays, the Exiled would have something to keep them busy until next year. However, there might still be some time before the reveal, but it’s good that part 1 just recently released a new league. With it, there is once again much to discover: Path of Exile leaves its successor behind with its new league, making it much easier for everyone to get started
