After his criticism of Cuba’s casino deal, Trymacs has to face accusations of double standards. On Twitch, he explains his position.
This is the current situation: The German Twitch community is currently discussing the casino deal of streamer KubaFPS. He announced in early July that he had moved to Malta to show gambling on Twitch there. Many of his colleagues view this critically. Trymacs, who got along well with Kuba, even had quite strong words.
In return, however, Trymacs also had to listen to criticism: Some accused him of double standards after his statements. After all, he continues to interact with streamers like MontanaBlack or Knossi, who were huge on Twitch with gambling a few years ago. Additionally, Trymacs himself used to create a lot of content around FIFA games (now EA FC), whose pack mechanics are often lovingly referred to as “children’s casino”.
In a recent stream, Trymacs addressed the criticism.
Trymacs finds a lot on Twitch “really crap”
What does Trymacs say about MontanaBlack and Knossi? Trymacs states clearly: He doesn’t agree with everything his colleagues do, but that is not a reason for him to cut off contact. In fact, there are quite a few things he wouldn’t do himself or finds “really crap”. This includes things like sports betting, constant vaping in the stream, or “multi-millionaires”, who have activated their donations on Twitch. Because they would profit from the pocket money of their young viewers.
The core conflict lies in the fact that some people think: It’s all the same; you can’t condemn one and not the other. However, Trymacs says he differentiates there. Everyone has to decide for themselves where the line lies – and for him, it is crossed with a casino deal.
The crucial difference for Trymacs between MontanaBlack and Knossi is that both have acknowledged their mistakes and no longer show that kind of content today. Both could, according to Trymacs’ assessment, easily receive gambling deals worth 10 or 15 million euros or might even have such deals already. Nonetheless, they would not engage in it.
What does Trymacs say about FIFA/EA FC? Here too, insight is the crucial factor for Trymacs. He perceives his content about FIFA today as a big mistake – even though it was his most successful format. We reported here about his change of heart: Due to gambling, Trymacs wants to boycott FIFA 23.
Overall, he himself has also done a lot of “crap”. Trymacs emphasizes: He is not a moral compass. But making mistakes is okay as long as one acknowledges them at some point.
