Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler is known alongside his Twitch streams for his two products Happy Chips and Happy Slice. He recently gave an update on the status of both products and what the future looks like.
What happened to Happy Chips? Happy Chips launched as an influencer product by Twitch streamers Trymacs and Knossi in 2024. The product line included various flavors of potato chips. However, the product is no longer available. The reason was explained by Trymacs during a presentation in a Twitch livestream (highlights on YouTube).
Although the sale of the chips was initially going well, Trymacs claims they were losing money with every single bag of chips sold
(Source: YouTube from 08:41). The problem was the heavy rainfall in Central Europe in 2024, as it led to many crop failures and consequently very high potato prices.
The company Happy Chips had already signed fixed contracts with retailers. 10 million bags of chips had a fixed selling price but a flexible raw material price, which skyrocketed. This resulted in each sale of a bag of chips effectively being a loss.
The specific amount of the losses is not stated by Trymacs, but he says: “We lost millions on the chips; in the millions range.” (Source: YouTube from 09:19).
And what about Happy Slice? Happy Slice was Trymacs and Knossi’s other product. They sold pizza, but without having fixed locations, instead using so-called ghost kitchens
. Restaurateurs could provide their resources to make the pizzas and deliver them to customers.
In his presentation, Trymacs explains that Happy Slice was somewhat successful, but the resources used should be redirected to the new project.
What does Trymacs plan for the future? In his presentation, Trymacs also introduces the new
project: Loco Chicken. Loco Chicken has been around for a while. It is a fast-food shop focused on chicken, similar to KFC.
Now Trymacs is adding his personal touch to the fast-food shop, as there will be limited protein wraps available. Just as Trymacs likes it: without vegetables.
What do you think of Trymacs’ discontinued products? Did you enjoy them or did you have no contact with them? Let us know in the comments! Other major projects by Trymacs take place on Twitch. In particular, the Trio-Soullink-Challenge excited a large part of his community last year. However, it is now on hold indefinitely: Trymacs and Chefstrobel are arguing about the intensity of a Pokémon battle, pausing the 1-year challenge on Twitch
