Currently, there is a really strong GO Pass in Pokémon GO. Some trainers have already completed it, even though it shouldn’t actually be possible.
What kind of GO Pass is this? On Monday, July 6 at 0:01 AM, the Path of Legends started. The event marks the beginning of the big global GO Fest that will take place this weekend.
Part of the event also includes a special GO Pass. This is packed with rewards such as many candies for legendary Pokémon as well as a Lucky Egg in the free rewards and additional rewards like a Mewtwo with a special background and a golden bottle cap in the Deluxe variant.
As has now become known on Reddit, there are some trainers who were able to make considerable progress before the Pass was released – or even finished it.
A lot of money, many raids, much progress
What kind of error is this? Normally, there is a restriction on the points that can be earned daily for most of the GO Pass duration. Only at the end of a GO Pass can you usually collect as many points as allowed by the activities and tasks in the game for a few days.
However, there was a curious error with the GO Pass for the Path of Legends. Due to the time zones of the world, the event started earlier in some areas than in others. And it was here that the error occurred.
Trainers were able to participate in the event’s raids in other time zones via remote raids. Even though the Pass was not yet active for the respective trainers, they were still able to collect points for it – without a daily limit.
This meant that trainers who completed many remote raids during this time were able to reach several levels in the GO Pass before it was even activated for them. It is unlikely that the trainers were aware of this in advance.
Since trainers could only participate in the raids via remote raids, they had to obtain a corresponding number of remote raid passes. These are hard to get with the limited number of coins that you can earn daily in the game.
It can therefore be assumed that the trainers had to dig deep into their pockets for their – presumably unplanned – advantage in the GO Pass.
