Pokémon GO starts full event with new monster, new shiny, new mega levels

Everything new in Pokémon GO: The upcoming event Mega Squads has a lot to offer if you enjoy collecting. We’ll show you the contents.

When does the Mega Squads event start? It starts on September 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM. It ends on September 14, at 8:00 PM.

Which Pokémon are new? For the first time, the Pokémon Maschiff appears in the game. It’s a Dark-type dog Pokémon that can evolve into Mabosstiff.

Which Shinies can I catch? Flamigo appears for the first time as a shiny variant in Pokémon GO. In addition, you will have an increased chance to catch Shiny Pidgey from September 8 to 11 (each at 10:00 AM). Afterwards, you can catch Carvanha with an increased shiny chance until the event ends.

Which Megas are new? You won’t get any new Mega Pokémon, but you can unlock the Super Max Level for Beedrill and Houndoom for the first time.

What bonuses are still active during the event?

During the event, a GO Pass is active that brings you milestones at rank 10 and rank 20.

  • The first bonus is the chance to receive Mega Energy when you catch Weedle, Pidgey, Houndour, Carvanha, or their evolutions.
  • The second bonus doubles the Stardust when hatching.

Additionally, spotlight hours will take place on September 10 and 11, each starting at 6:00 PM.

  • On September 10, you will encounter Weedle, Kakuna, and Beedrill.
  • On September 11, Houndour and Houndoom are around.

In the wild: The event is also split here.

  • Pidgey and Rookidee appear from September 8 to 11.
  • Houndour and Carvanha will be around from September 11 to 14.
  • Weedle and Flamigo are available continuously.

In eggs: From September 8 to 11, from and until 10:00 AM, you’ll find the following monsters in 5 km eggs:

  • Emolga, Fletchling, Rookidee, and Flamigo

Afterwards, this continues until the end of the event.

  • Sandile, Pancham, Maschiff, and Flamigo
