If you have no plans on the holiday, you can spend the day as an Anime fan on a German TV channel. Because there are seven movies about Dragon Ball.
When and where should you tune in? For almost 20 hours on May 1, 2026, many animes will be airing on the TV channel ProSieben Maxx (read on TVSpielfilm). If you don’t have a TV connection, you can also follow the channel via stream over the internet.
- It starts at 5:25 AM. The day kicks off with reruns of Detective Conan, One Piece, and Dragon Ball Super.
- From 1:40 PM to 8:15 PM, there will be seven movies from the Z era of Dragon Ball. This includes The Dead Zone of Garlic Jr., The Decision Battle, The Strongest on Earth, Super Saiyan Son-Goku, Revenge for Freezer, Cooler’s Return, and Attack of the Cyborgs.

Even after midnight, there will be more animes like Demon Slayer. In fact, you can get your 24 hours of anime content. You definitely shouldn’t miss the movies about Dragon Ball.
Spend the holiday with Dragon Ball
Why are the old movies worth it? On rating platforms like IMDb, the seven Dragon Ball Z movies are rather situated in the solid midfield, mostly with ratings between 6.5 and 7.1 out of 10 stars.
Although they lag behind newer blockbusters like Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, there are still good arguments for not missing them.
The movies still exude that nostalgic charm from the 90s. Instead of computer-drawn characters, there are still hand-drawn animations that bring their own dynamics.
Most of the movies run for only about 45 to 50 minutes. So there are no endless dialogues or stretched build-up phases, as can sometimes be the case in the series. The movies get to the point quickly and deliver action-packed battles.
If you miss one of the movies, it’s no problem as they have their own stories that are not interconnected. Another major plus is the legendary German voices of Son-Goku, Piccolo, and the other characters.
Another argument for watching the movies is the iconic villains that sometimes don’t even appear in the anime. In a separate ranking, we have listed the ten most powerful movie villains of all time from Dragon Ball: Dragon Ball: The 10 most powerful movie villains of all time in the Power Ranking
