When does Dynamax Monday take place? Today, on August 17, 2026, you will encounter Magikarp in Dynamax battles almost all day long. The Dyna-Monday runs until 9:00 PM.
Why should I participate in the battle? The fish is considered the epitome of uselessness, but it essentially carries this name unjustly.
- On one hand, Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, a very strong Pokémon. Its Dynamax variant is also useful if you are lacking good water attackers.
- On the other hand, winning against Magikarp today will earn you an XL Rare Candy every time!
The great thing is: Since Magikarp is only Dynamax Level 1, the battle should be easy for you. The XL Rare Candy is a fantastic reward for the effort.
How to easily earn XL Rare Candies today in Pokémon GO
What is an XL Rare Candy? With XL Rare Candies, you can strengthen a Pokémon over Level 40. They are not easy to obtain, especially for legendary Pokémon, they require a lot of effort. An XL Rare Candy, on the other hand, can be easily used on any Pokémon.
How do I earn XL Rare Candies today? Every successful local battle against Dyna Magikarp will earn you one XL Rare Candy.
Important: You must be on-site. A remote raid pass will not earn you an XL Rare Candy.
How many XL Rare Candies can I collect? That depends on the number of Dyna battles you can conduct – determined by the amount of your Dyna particles.
How do I defeat Magikarp? This should not be an issue if you use Grass or Electric attackers. Options include Dyna Venusaur, Dyna Electivire, Dyna Zapdos, or – it gets really easy – Gigantamax Pokémon of the right type.
Even with weaker Pokémon of these types, you should not have any issues with Magikarp.
