The next era of Star Wars: The Old Republic is called “Masters of the Force” and aims to bring back the enjoyment of the original launch phase alongside fresh content.
What’s coming for SWTOR? The new chapter of Star Wars: The Old Republic is titled “Masters of the Force” and is set to deliver a full content package to the servers with the first update. Highlights include:
- the story chapter “Galaxy in Chaos“: The legacy of Darth Malgus has been passed on to every Force-sensitive being across the galaxy, causing chaos and unrest. Will this news awaken hope, fear, or a desire for revenge? Whether for good or ill, the galaxy is forever changed.
- traveling to Ryloth, the homeworld of the Twi’leks
- new difficulty levels for the overworld
- alternative starter experience with Classic or Expert characters
- a 3-boss operation named “Children of Nul”
- an increase in the level cap to 85
- new abilities for all disciplines and equipment updates
We will take a closer look at two particularly noteworthy innovations – the difficulty levels and the Expert characters – below.
As challenging as 2011
What’s behind the difficulty levels? For the open-world content of SWTOR, you should be able to choose between 3 difficulty levels with Update 8.0:
- Story
- Veteran
- Master
This way, you will have the choice of whether you prefer a story-driven adventure or a challenging MMO experience. The mode strongly resembles the difficulty system that was implemented a few months ago in Elder Scrolls Online.
In both games, the selected difficulty only affects the contents of the world, and in both cases, players are supposed to be able to play together despite different difficulty levels.
What is a Classic or Expert character? When starting SWTOR, you will soon have the choice to create either a Classic or Expert character. Depending on your choice, additional activities and tasks await, through which you can earn unique rewards.
The developers’ goal is to “invoke the feeling of the classic SWTOR experience.” With both innovations in combination, veterans can certainly look forward to a challenging experience that also puts Jedi and Sith to the test.
When exactly the new chapter starts is currently unclear. Over the coming months, the developers want to reveal more details about the individual innovations.
