Pokémon GO: Dyna Battle Day with Gigantamax Gortrom – Content and Tips for the Event

The Dyna Battle Day with Gortrom is coming up in Pokémon GO. MeinMMO shows you what content the event brings and what to watch out for.

What kind of event is this? The Dyna Battle Day is a 3-hour event focusing on Gortrom in its Gigantamax form. During the 180 minutes, you will not only have the chance to defeat and catch many Gigantamax Gortrom but also to obtain the monster as Shiny for the first time.

When does the event take place? The Dyna Battle Day starts on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM. From then on, you have until 5:00 PM to defeat the powerful boss.

What bonuses are active? During the event, the following bonuses are active:

• Gigantamax Gortrom can appear as Shiny for the first time
• you will find Gigantamax battles at all power sources
• additional power sources are active and power sources refresh more frequently
• the collection limit for Dyna particles is increased to 1,600
• you will receive 8 times the amount of Dyna particles from power sources
• up to 3 special trades per day

From 12:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the following additional bonuses are available:

• double the amount of Dyna particles from walking
• 1/4 walking distance needed to receive Dyna particles from walking

Additionally, from August 1, 2026, at 2:00 AM to August 2, 2026, at 5:00 AM, the following bonus is active:

• the remote raid limit is increased to 20

What’s included in the event ticket? For $4.99 (about €5), you can also purchase an optional ticket for the event. Here you will receive double the amount of experience points in Dyna battles as an additional bonus for the event. Moreover, you will get a limited research task, which includes the following rewards:

• a Dyna mushroom
• 25,000 experience points
• 6,400 Dyna particles

Tips for battling Gigantamax Gortrom

Which monsters should I use? To quickly fill the dynamometer, you should use strong defenders with fast quick moves. The following defenders are particularly suitable, as they have good resistances against Gortrom and the boss’s attacks:

• Dynamax Honweisel with Bug Bite, Fury Cutter, or Poison Jab
• Dynamax Krarmor with Sandstorm
• Dynamax Charizard with Fire Breath (a Top TM is required for this)
• Dynamax Venusaur with Vine Whip
• Zamazenta (King of Shields) with Metal Claw
• Dynamax Registeel with Lock-On or Metal Claw

Make sure to only use quick moves and no charged moves. This way, you can fill the dynamometer faster.

Additionally, if you are responsible for attacks during the Dynamax phases, you should bring strong counters against Gortrom: the best counters against Gigantamax Gortrom.

Also, remember to level up the Dyna attacks of your monsters to the maximum level and to raise your monsters to a high level as well.

What should I pay attention to in battle? Since the battle against Gigantamax Gortrom is very intense, you should definitely distribute roles correctly in your respective 4-person groups. Coordinate who is responsible for healing or shields and who deals damage during the Dynamax phases. Accordingly, your team should be organized.

Also, remember that you should not start the battle with just a 4-person group. Gigantamax battles are among the toughest challenges in Pokémon GO and should not be underestimated.

Additionally, you should switch in your attackers and supporters only during the Dynamax phases. Before that, you should rely on your defenders.
