A player was fed up after a decision in Battlefield 6 and demanded a refund on Steam for the shooter. Steam could not only understand his anger but also refunded him the full price, despite the former fan having already invested over 470 hours into the game since its launch.
What prompted the player to take action? The player and Reddit user ExplorEverythingOnce informed the Battlefield community that after 470 hours in Battlefield 6, he had finally had enough. He found it annoying that modes like “King of the Hill” and “Deathmatch” were removed from Battlefield 6.
However, when his favorite mode “Rush” was also set to be removed, he could no longer justify having paid so much money for this game, and turned to support. He wanted his money back – and Steam could understand that very well.
Steam support is on the player’s side
How could he convince Steam support of his request? The player explained to the employee that almost a year after release, several modes were removed, and that especially without any warning. He provided a link to the official mode list of Battlefield and the community broadcast that confirmed this.
The Steam support employee agreed with the player that it was not okay, and subsequently refunded him the total of 109.24 US dollars he had paid for the Phantom Edition at the release of Battlefield 6. He proved this with a screenshot of the transaction on Steam, after the narrative sounded too good to be true for many players from the subreddit.
The player concluded: “Battlefield Studios, you can’t just remove the game modes that I play and still keep my money.”
