In Palworld there is an annoying enemy that wants to blow you up as soon as it sees you. But you can use this to your advantage.
What kind of Pal is this? It is Tocotoco, the toucan-like Pal from the desert areas and dungeons. It looks harmless at first glance, but runs towards you, throws exploding eggs at you, and ultimately blows itself up. Since Tocotocos are usually found in groups, they quickly become a real nuisance.
How did the player turn it into a powerful weapon? In a clip on X, a player shows their massive Tocotoco running towards a boss like a ticking time bomb. The Pal uses the skill “Megaton Self-Destruct,” which triggers a gigantic explosion but usually costs its life.
To prevent Tocotoco from dying, the player has equipped it according to Reddit with the passive skill Fortress. This grants immunity to explosion damage – thus also against its own detonation.

Is it worth it? In a Reddit thread discussing the video, there are some enthusiastic voices. Some players want to test it themselves, equipping their Pals with the Megaton Self-Destruct and unleashing them on enemy Pals.
Users like NekCing or HyakkiGousen are already joking about entire Tocotoco armies for raid bosses, while others want to try the trick with Beegarde or Lamball.
However, there are also disadvantages:
- High effort: The passive skill “Fortress” is difficult to breed.
- Long cooldown: As The Pal Professor shows in a YouTube video, the skill does huge damage but has a long cooldown.
- No accuracy: In the YouTube video, The Pal Professor also notes that the skill does not always seem to hit, which is particularly frustrating given the long cooldown.

By the way, if you want to protect yourself from explosion damage from enemy Pals, you can cook and consume seafood pasta or wear explosion-resistant underwear. However, the latter is only unlocked at level 76 in the technology tree.
