Chromite is one of the rarer metals in Palworld and finding larger quantities of it can prove tricky. Therefore, we show you how to obtain the material as easily as possible.
How to obtain Chromite? There are various ways to collect Chromite:
- With a metal detector primarily on Feybreak Island in caves and dungeons
- You need level 56 to unlock the recipe
- Catching a Smokie that can dig up the Chromite and provide passive bonuses
Both methods are useful and can be efficiently combined. Therefore, we will show you which locations are best for mining Chromite and where you can obtain a Smokie to assist you.
Finding Chromite – The Best Locations
To find Chromite, you need to go to Feybreak Island in the southwest of your map and bring a metal detector. You can also use it while riding a mount. Once there, watch out for oddly shaped piles of stones and listen to your detector. The closer you are, the faster it beeps.
You can search the open world and follow the sound of the detector or stick to the following locations, as Chromite veins spawn more frequently there:
- Near the waypoint “Scorched Hill”
- In the caves of the island (for example at coordinates -916, -1321)
- Alpha-Pal caves (with 4 mining spots each)
- -1128, -1298
- -1047, -1201
- -960, -981
- -732, 1028
If you want to harvest as much material as possible, it makes sense to catch a Smokie beforehand. This will help you collect the metal and also provides a passive bonus, allowing you to receive more material even if you don’t have it with you.
Being Efficient: Catching a Smokie and Passively Farming More Chromite
Where to find a Smokie? If you want to farm larger quantities of Chromite, it’s worth catching a Smokie first. Otherwise, you can find regular Smokies in the northern part of Feybreak Island, both during the day and at night.
You can also find a huge alpha version of it in a dungeon at coordinates -879, -1467 in the southeast of Feybreak Island, in the orange-beige area of the map.
However, to gain access to the dungeon, you need to defeat several Pals beforehand:
- Kitsun Noct (Green Circle, Level 57)
- Gildane (Blue Circle, Level 58)
- Warsect Terra (Red Circle, Level 59)
What does Smokie bring? Once you have secured Smokie, it will keep digging up Chromite for you while you have it with you, collecting material passively. Even if you don’t have it with you, it still gives you a bonus on the Chromite you mine, increasing the amount you receive.
Are there any other ways to obtain Chromite? Yes, you can also obtain Chromite in larger quantities by opening treasure chests, or 2-3 if you defeat the Pal Silvegis. You can also occasionally receive Chromite when completing tasks for the Conceited Palkritiker.
