How to obtain Chromite? There are various ways to specifically gather Chromite:
- With a metal detector especially on Feybreak Island in caves and dungeons
- You need level 56 to unlock the recipe
- Catching a Smokie that can dig up Chromite and provides passive bonuses
- Breeding the Pal Silvegis with another specimen and slaughtering it
Both methods are viable and can be efficiently combined. Therefore, we will show you the best locations for mining Chromite and where to get a Smokie to assist you.
Finding Chromite – The Best Locations
To find Chromite, you need to head to Feybreak Island in the southwest of your map and bring along a metal detector. You can also use it while riding a mount. Once you arrive there, keep an eye out for oddly shaped piles of stones and listen to your detector. The closer you are, the faster it beeps.
You can search in the open world and follow the sound of the detector or stick to the following locations where deposits spawn more frequently:
- Near the waypoint “Scorched Hill”
- Dungeons on Sakurajima Island
- In the caves of Feybreak Island
- for example, you can find a large one at the coordinates -916, -1321
- Alpha-Pal Caves (with 4 mining sites each)
- -1128, -1298
- -1047, -1201
- -960, -981
- -732, 1028
If you want to gather as much material as possible, it makes sense to catch a Smokie beforehand. Because this helps you in collecting the metal and also provides a passive bonus that allows you to gather more material even if you don’t have it with you.
Be Efficient: Catch a Smokie and Passively Farm More Chromite
Where to find a Smokie? If you want to farm larger amounts of Chromite, it is worth catching a Smokie first. Otherwise, you will find normal Smokies in the northern part of Feybreak Island, both during the day and at night.
You can also find a huge Alpha version of it in a dungeon at coordinates -879, -1467 in the southeast of Feybreak Island, in the orange-beige section of the map.
However, to gain access to the dungeon, you must defeat several Pals in advance:
- Kitsun Noct (Green Circle, Level 57)
- Gildane (Blue Circle, Level 58)
- Warsect Terra (Red Circle, Level 59)
What does Smokie provide? Once you have secured Smokie, he will continuously dig up Chromite for you when you have him with you, passively collecting material. Even if you don’t have him with you, he still provides a bonus on the Chromite you mine and increases the amount you receive.
Are there other ways to get Chromite? Yes, you can also obtain Chromite in larger quantities by opening treasure chests, or 2 – 3 when defeating the Pal Silvegis. Additionally, you can occasionally receive Chromite by completing tasks for the Imaginary Palkritiker.
