Dragon Ball Daima has been nominated as the best cartoon for a children’s award. If enough votes come together, it could become the first anime winner at the awards.
What award is it? Dragon Ball Daima is nominated as the best cartoon at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. This is an award show aimed at a young audience. There are also shows and stars nominated that go beyond the Nickelodeon universe.
In addition to categories like “Best Musical Album” and “Best Actress,” there is also an award for best cartoon. Pokémon was the first anime nominated in this category in 2000. Since then, no anime has made it to the awards – until Dragon Ball Daima.
Dragon Ball Daima – New Trailer Shows the Demon Realm
Dragon Ball must compete against strong competition
Who else is nominated? In order for Dragon Ball to win the prize, the anime must compete against 5 other series that are tough competition:
Monster High
The Simpsons
The Loud House
SpongeBob SquarePants
Teen Titans Go!
Especially against SpongeBob SquarePants, it could be hard to win the award. The series has already won the award 21 times. And last year, the list of nominees was almost identical – only Big City Greens was replaced by Dragon Ball.
How can you vote? To vote for Dragon Ball Daima (or other cartoons), you need to go to the official site of the award show. There you can vote as often as you want. There is no limit.
This could potentially lead to the cartoon that most fans like not necessarily winning. The winner is determined rather by those who manage to get the most votes for their favorite series.
Would this be an important award? The award show has been around for 38 years and is especially known for its slime attacks on celebrities. Therefore, it would be a nice landmark if an anime won an award here.
By the way: It has not yet been confirmed that Dragon Ball Daima will be continued. However, some hints have already been made and indications of the existence of a sequel have been given. You can check the chances for a second season in the following article: Dragon Ball Daima ends after 20 episodes – Here’s how things stand for a continuation

The esports scene of League of Legends is huge in many parts of the world. Besides the official European league, the LEC, there is the Korean league called LCK. A new top team has achieved the perfect result of the tournament there.
What milestone has the team of Faker and Gen.G achieved? Each split of the LCK is its own tournament. The current split is called LCK 2025 Rounds 1-2 (via lol.fandom.com). In a series of best-of-3 matches, teams must compete against each other. In the spring split of the LCK in 2022, Faker and his team T1 achieved a perfect split (via lol.fandom.com). This means they won every series of the tournament with a final score of 18 wins and no losses.
Until May 31, 2025, that was a record held only by T1. With the series against the team OKSavingsBankBrion (BRO), Gen.G has also reached this milestone.
In the video, you can see the trailer for Season 2 of 2025 in League of Legends:

What’s next for Gen.G
What does the future hold for Gen.G? By achieving first place in the LCK split Rounds 1-2, Gen.G will next play in the LCK 2025 Road to MSI on June 13, 2025. Their opponents will be the second-placed Hanwha Life Esports. The winner of the best-of-5 series will be the first of two teams to represent the LCK at the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).
What is the MSI? The Mid-Season Invitational is one of the most important tournaments for League of Legends after the World Championships (Worlds). In the first global meet of the season, the strongest teams from different regions such as Europe (LEC), China (LPL), North America (LCS), and Korea (LCK) demonstrate who is the best. The winner of the MSI qualifies for Worlds 2025.
In Pokémon GO there are some changes to monsters and attacks. These could have a significant impact on an aspect of the game.
The new season “Delightful Days” has just started in Pokémon GO. It runs from June 3, 2025, to September 2, 2025. As usual, the new season brings you some new content to the game. Additionally, on June 28 and 29, 2025, the big GO Fest 2025 will take place during the new season.
In the context of the new season, there have also been some changes to attacks and monsters. These could indeed have implications for a part of the game.

Pokémon GO starts new season Pleasant Days – Trailer for the season
These are the changes
Which attacks have been altered? The following attacks have been adjusted in Trainer battles:
Ember: energy generation has been increased
Bug Bite: 4 damage instead of 3
Fury Cutter: 3 damage instead of 2
Acid: energy generation has been increased
Bullet Punch: 8 damage instead of 6
Metal Sound: 5 damage instead of 3
Double Iron Bash: 55 damage instead of 50
Doom Desire: 80 damage instead of 75
Crunch: probability of reducing the opponent’s defense has been decreased
Wrap: opponent’s monster’s defense is guaranteed to be lowered
Parabolic Charge: energy costs have been reduced, and the user’s defense is guaranteed to be increased
Which Pokémon can learn new attacks? In addition to the changes to attacks, there are also some monsters that can now learn new attacks.
What effects do these changes have? The changes are likely to be particularly interesting in the area of the battle league. With the multitude of new attacks that some monsters can now learn, some monsters may receive a boost and become more flexible in their use.
Among the attacks that have been adjusted, it is noticeable that only Crunch has been degraded. All other attacks that were modified have been improved and strengthened.
How exactly the meta changes as a result and which monsters will perform better than before will become apparent only in the coming weeks.
In Pokémon GO, not only a new season has started, but also a new month. And as usual, it brings you some events and content. What they are and when they take place, you can find out in our overview with all events in June 2025 in Pokémon GO.

The MMORPG Blade & Soul: NEO starts today on Steam and brings with it an event that allows newcomers and veterans to quickly get into the game.
What kind of MMORPG is this? On February 25, 2025, Blade & Soul: NEO was launched. The MMORPG is a revised version of the once-popular Wuxia game and wants to shine with several new features upon its return:
Unlimited Windwalk: The “Infinite Wind Path,” previously limited by stamina, can now be used indefinitely in NEO. This way, you can get from A to B in no time.
Visual Overhaul: Blade & Soul: NEO presents itself with improved textures, optimized lighting, smoother animations, more impressive hit effects, and more detailed environments. However, an upgrade to Unreal Engine 5 is not available.
Improved Character Editor: The revised character creation tool now offers you significantly more options for customizing your heroes.
Dynamic Combat System: The martial arts combat system returns to the roots of the classic version, focusing on skill combinations, counters, and flexible group roles.
Diverse PvP Opportunities: In NEO, you can expect numerous PvP activities, including exciting field battles, intense faction wars, and organized 6v6 battlegrounds.
The MMORPG has always been popular for its brilliant martial arts-style combat system, which is also considered one of the best in the genre. Since then, the first content updates have already been released. Thanks to the launch, these should quickly provide more content. Blade & Soul: NEO now opens its doors on Steam and immediately holds an event designed to make the launch appealing.

Blade & Soul NEO: Trailer announces release date for the graphical remaster
Launch Event Promises Easy Catch-Up
What do the developers plan for the launch on Steam? Blade & Soul: NEO is set to launch today, June 4, at 3:00 PM on Steam. Unlike previously announced, there will now be crossplay between the version on the proprietary Purple Launcher and the Steam version.
New players can still look forward to their own servers. The developers are launching the new server “Fishbelly Pub” in Europe, while in America, players will start fresh on the server “Hogshead Hamlet.” However, the existing servers are also open to new players, allowing them to choose their destination.
How should one catch up? To ensure new players can quickly reach the level of the current player base, the developers are launching an event. All players who are new or have been inactive for over 30 days will receive a bonus event that will help them acquire current items more easily and close the gap with the existing player base soon. Therefore, the event is worthwhile for both newcomers and veterans who have not been online in the last 30 days.
The event will also be activated on existing servers. Additionally, all servers will always be on the same version, allowing all players to directly check out the updates from the last few months.
For anyone looking to start anew in an MMORPG or for veterans wanting to return after a long break, this event and the new servers in Blade & Soul: NEO are a perfect opportunity. Otherwise, a survival MMO, Dune: Awakening, will also launch on Thursday, June 5: Dune: Awakening – All about the release on PS5, Xbox, and PC.

Half Sword is currently one of the most popular demos on Steam. MeinMMO author Ody has also played it – and for much longer than he actually intended.
Actually, I wanted to try out several demos last week: to expand my horizon a bit and perhaps discover a game worth writing about. After all, my job at MeinMMO is to find and present exciting games for you.
So I downloaded three demos right away:
Morgenstern: A dungeon crawler with quirky humor and a heavy metal soundtrack that really blasts against your eardrums.
Sumerian Six: A tactics game that fascinated me mainly with its setting – lost civilizations like the Sumerians always get me.
Half Sword: The only one of these three demos that I have really played so far – for over 10 hours in just 2 days. And that, although I just wanted to have a quick look.
You can see a trailer for Half Sword here:

Half Sword: Trailer for the medieval fighting game on Steam
Brutal battles with surprising depth
Half Sword is a physics-based combat simulator and currently the demo with the second most players on Steam (via steamdb.info). In it, you throw yourself into an arena with medieval weapons and armor, where you battle exhilarating duels and group fights.
In the current demo on Steam, there are three different game modes:
In “Gauntlet Mode”, you climb your way up a ranking ladder from the bottom. With each level, you receive better weapons and armor, but you also face tougher opponents.
In the “Abyss”, you face waves of enemies that become increasingly dangerous over time. Along the way, you collect gear to stand against them.
In “Free Mode”, you can play as whoever you want – whether a skinny beggar or a noble knight. You only need to unlock the Baron by winning the Gauntlet first.
Those who have gotten used to the somewhat clunky controls will be rewarded with an outstanding combat feel. This is also due to the extremely realistic damage model in the game: If I hit my opponent’s main artery with my sword, every fight ends in a few seconds – whether it’s a simple foot soldier or a boss enemy.
Such a duel can be over quickly if someone lands a devastating hit.
Pain, frustration, and pure fascination
At the beginning of the Gauntlet, you are a beggar and only have your fists. Occasionally, the game hands you a knife or you can pick up items from the ground to use as weapons. Your goal in this game mode is to collect points: Duels give one point, fights with multiple opponents give two or more.
Once you have collected enough points, you face a boss: If you defeat him, you unlock the next level. If your character dies in battle, you must start all over again. From the second level on, you can save your character if you clear some fights in the Abyss. However, this will become harder the further you have progressed.
And you will die: very often and sometimes very quickly. An (un)fortunate hit to the head can make the battle end in just one stroke. The controls are very clunky at the beginning, but once you’ve learned them, the fights feel incredibly satisfying.
I suffered for about 80% of my time in this game and cursed it severely. However, the remaining 20% were so good that I just can’t be angry at Half Sword. Although it is still only a tech demo, it has already developed a pull that I find very hard to resist. So it will hardly stay at the 10 hours I currently have in the game.
Since Half Sword only ranks second in the list of most played demos, you might now be wondering: “Who is in first place?” That would be an unexpected PS5 hit that has finally made it to PC. You can read more about it on MeinMMO: You can now try Stellar Blade on Steam and keep your save

The new MMORPG WalkScape rewards you only for walking – and in real life. If you want to progress, you have to move.
What kind of MMORPG is this? The MMORPG WalkScape is a special fitness MMORPG that requires you to move in real life. Instead of sitting for hours at home in front of the PC or console, you always have the MMORPG with you on your phone and advance with every step.
However, WalkScape is not just a simple step counter; it hides a real MMORPG with lifeskills that is heavily inspired by RuneScape.
Here you can see the teaser trailer for WalkScape:
Start video
The teaser trailer of WalkScape shows what matters: You have to run to loot
Looting and leveling through movement
What can you do in the MMORPG? WalkScape offers over 15 different skills that you can train and master in the game. Additionally, there are various materials to collect, which you can then turn into equipment or other items through crafting. The skills in the game include abilities like woodcutting, foraging, or fishing. All skills increase with the steps you take in real life.
WalkScape has a story that spans different continents, so you have plenty to do as you walk from A to B. Furthermore, dozens of NPCs with their own quests and services await you scattered throughout the world.
The game is a true MMORPG; you can team up with your friends to work towards goals together, without having to be physically in the same location.
How does WalkScape differ from other apps? While WalkScape has a major competitor in the sector of gamified fitness apps with Pokémon GO, there are some points the developer has intentionally designed differently:
No GPS signal is needed; WalkScape only analyzes the steps of the phone
The game world is not synchronized with the real world, so you can go anywhere, even if you are only walking in your neighborhood in real life
There are no ads and microtransactions; the game is financed through a low-cost subscription model and is solely supported by the community
How can you play it? WalkScape is currently still in a closed beta, which you can access in two ways. Either you support the developers with about €3-4 per month on Patreon and immediately gain access to the beta, or you sign up for free on the website WalkScape.app and hope to get access this way.
On Reddit, the developer recently promised to invite more beta testers from the list in the future. So if you want to save money and can wait, you might be able to play for free with a bit of luck.
A new event starts in World of Warcraft. Several bosses attack at the same time – can you withstand this pressure?
If World of Warcraft excels in a particular area, it is in the design of exciting dungeon and raid bosses. Other MMORPGs often envy this. The developers have apparently recognized this strength and thought: how about a new game mode that focuses on bosses?
That is exactly the event “Cunning Duos,” which is playable from today (June 4, 2025).
Start video
WoW player finds his old guild again – but it’s quite sad
Where can you participate in Cunning Duos? Registration for Cunning Duos is possible in several locations. Primarily in the current capital Dornogal, but you can also join from Stormwind or Orgrimmar.
How does it work? In a large arena, you can face bosses with your group – multiple at the same time. Two (or more) bosses want to make your life hell at the same time, so you need to coordinate overlapping boss mechanics while beating the bosses’ health points down to 0.
Depending on how quickly and flawlessly you played, there will be a score at the end that you can boast about in front of other characters.
At the beginning, there are 4 different bosses, but as the event progresses, more will be unlocked, so in the end, there will be a pool of a total of 10 bosses who will give you a hard time. The bosses include:
Baron Silverlaine (Shadowfang Keep)
Broggok (Blood Furnace)
Chrono-Lord Epoch (Stratholme’s Redemption)
Foe Reaper 5000 (Death Mines)
Glubtok (Death Mines)
Hydromancer Thespia (Steam Vault)
Lord Walden (Shadowfang Keep)
Makgineer Steamrigger (Steam Vault)
Rattlegore (Scholomance)
Watchkeeper Garlgomar (Hellfire Citadel)
Besides the bosses, there are some additional effects. You will find bombs in the arena that you can throw at enemies. If you defeat them with it, you will get bonus points for your score.
Even though the event visually resembles the combat guild, you are with your own group in a separate area. So you don’t have to be nervous because other heroes are constantly watching you – you have the whole space to yourself and can be defeated in the most embarrassing ways as often as you want without being exposed to the shame of the server afterwards.
What rewards are there? As this event is primarily a fun event, the rewards are also mainly cosmetic in nature. During the event weeks, there are big quests for which completing them unlocks a toy, a pet, and a mount. Especially the podium toy is interesting because you can upgrade it to show your average item level.
How long does Cunning Duos last? The event is only temporary and lasts for a duration of 6 weeks. This means that you can try to chase a high score until July 15. This also means that during the event, the next patch 11.1.7 will be released, which will bring some new features and special aspects.

In the movies of Harry Potter, Jason Isaacs plays the character Lucius Malfoy. However, this is not the only role the actor has taken on.
Who plays Lucius Malfoy? In the role of Draco Malfoy’s father, the actor Jason Isaacs could be seen in the film adaptations of Harry Potter.
He made his first appearance in “The Chamber of Secrets.” Even then, he seemed highly sinister and untrustworthy – which was partly due to his arrogant demeanor and way of speaking.
In Jason Isaacs’ voice, there was always something cold during his portrayal of Lucius Malfoy. One could not imagine that he could be warm as a family man and husband.
The creative minds behind the films likely thought similarly. For during the time of “The Chamber of Secrets,” Isaacs was spontaneously engaged for a second role. However, this was never widely communicated, which is why only a few knew about it at release.

A Voice in the Wall
Whom else did Isaacs play? PLAYING a villain was probably not enough, so the actor took on yet another, even more horrific role. We are talking about the Basilisk, the great monster from “The Chamber of Secrets,” which is one of the most dangerous creatures in Harry Potter.
While the giant snake is only seen in full glory at the end of the film, Harry keeps hearing its voice throughout the school year. In some scenes, he walks alone through the corridors of Hogwarts at night and hears a sinister hissing in the walls.
It was exactly this “voice” that Jason Isaacs took on. While he was doing some additional recordings as Lucius Malfoy during the post-production of “The Chamber of Secrets” in the sound studio, the people in charge liked what the actor could do with his voice. In a conversation with Sky Cinema, Isaacs explains:
I was in there (in the studio) and was probably goofing around at the microphone and making funny voices while everything was being prepared. And Chris Columbus (director of Harry Potter 2) said: “You are good with voices and accents. How about a snake?” And I said: “I don’t know any snakes. I don’t know what their voice sounds like.” Chris replied: “No, I mean the Basilisk.”
In the studio, Isaacs’ voice was experimented with. It was altered in pitch and manipulated with effects. Thus, the actor managed to appear twice in the same film.
The result is impressive: The scenes where the Basilisk is heard in the walls are among the eeriest in the 2nd film. Even as Lucius Malfoy, Jason Isaacs made a wonderfully fearsome figure and rightly finds himself in the following list on MeinMMO: Harry Potter: The 10 most dangerous Death Eaters in the Power Ranking

Boluses (in English Boluses) are among the usable items on your expeditions in Nightreign. Yet many players ignore them, even though they are very powerful.
Why do players ignore the important items? Players already know Boluses as a usable item from the main game of Elden Ring. There, they provide temporary bonuses that primarily heal or prevent negative status effects (like poison, bleeding, or madness). They are found, bought, or crafted, and used to counter harmful influences.
Because the effect in Elden Ring only lasts for a short time, they are often ignored in Nightreign, as other items seem significantly more useful. However, they are among the most powerful usable items in the game and can even determine victory or defeat in crucial moments.
Start video
Elden Ring Nightreign drives solo players to the brink of madness
“Yup. Time to eat off the ground.”
What makes the Boluses so powerful? Unlike in Elden Ring, the Boluses in Nightreign provide permanent buffs in the form of resistances for your run, which you can see under your buffs. The catch: It is not explicitly stated in the item descriptions, which is why many players don’t know, as a thread on Reddit currently shows:
itstheFREEDOM writes: “I feel dumb for ignoring them … wow …”
Pharabellum notes: “I started using them yesterday and became much sturdier as Iron Eyes, a solid strategy.”
arsenicknife comments: “I love how everyone approaches the items with the fundamental mentality of Elden Ring, of which 99% are junk, and then realizes that almost every one of them is incredible in Nightreign. Really a wonderful comeback story for the items.”
bedtimers continues to advise: “This is groundbreaking. Never carry Boluses around, just use them from the ground (Triangle and up on the D-Pad on the PS) and you will gain the resistance for the run.”
LinkCelestrial replies: “Yup. Time to eat off the ground.”
And thus, user bedtimers points out a fact that makes the Boluses even more powerful.
The description does not indicate that they provide permanent buffs.
Because you can simply pick up the Boluses and consume them directly to gain a boost for the respective status resistance. This way, they take up no space in your inventory, and you can benefit from the long-term effect of the items. As a small bonus, they also provide temporary HP regeneration.
If you let some time pass between them, it is also possible to further increase the resistance with additional Boluses. By paying attention to the type of damage the Night Lord prefers to deal, you can secure a significant advantage for the final battle.
In Fantasy Life i: The Time Thief, players must master 14 professions. Although the role-playing game looks like a cozy game, it proves to be a hard grind.
What kind of game is this? Fantasy Life i describes itself as a “relaxed slow-life role-playing game”, but it competes fiercely with other titles like Monster Hunter Wilds in terms of “collecting and crafting”.
Players can learn 14 professions. These include everyday professions such as cook or tailor, as well as adventurous professions like mage or paladin.
To level up a profession, you must gather resources, defeat monsters, and craft items. The higher you level up, the more valuable the materials become and the stronger the monsters you need to defeat.
You can freely choose between the professions and switch at any time. This way, you always have something to do.
You can level the 14 professions up to level 100, some of which depend on each other. So it takes quite a while for everyone to reach the maximum level, which turns it into a real grind fest. The game is presented in a cute 3D style, which does not suggest how long it will keep you occupied.

Fantasy Life i Reaches New Milestone
How good is it? The development team announced on X that it has reached a new milestone: About 2 weeks after the release, over 800,000 copies of the game have been sold, which is an impressive achievement.
This is also reflected in the reviews: On Steam, the role-playing game has a 92% positive rating.
Many players praise that the game literally steals time. It keeps players occupied for a long time, plus it has fun gameplay. Crafting and decorating the island are said to be enjoyable.
On the other hand, the multiplayer mode is facing criticism. It is possible to visit an island with up to 4 adventurers and experience activities on it. However, many players are bothered by the 30-minute time limit, as it prevents the main story from progressing.
The YouTuber and Twitch-streamer Sascha “unsympathischTV” Hellinger opened his own vegan burger shop in Hamburg a few weeks ago. Suddenly, the neon sign above his shop was missing. His suspicion: theft, but the content creator seems to partly be to blame for the disappearance.
Who is it about? The Twitch streamer unsympathischTV was able to open his own burger shop on May 3, 2025: BETR. Right in the middle of St. Pauli, he offers his vegan burgers, fries, and oatshakes.
With Twitch streamers Trymacs and Varion, unsympathischTV has the podcast Offline + Ehrlich, where he talks about the latest events surrounding his shop.
Vom Pizza-Lieferant zu einem der größten deutschen Twitch-Streamer – Leben und Karriere von Trymacs in 2 Minuten
“Who of you was that?”
On May 23, 2025, unsympathisch posted a video on one of his TikTok channels where he showed, outraged and helpless, that the neon sign of his shop is no longer there. He asked: “Who steals an LED sign? (…) Who of you was that?” (via TikTok).
In the latest episode of the podcast Offline + Ehrlich (via Spotify, from minute 03:38), unsympathischTV now reveals that it actually happened quite differently with the neon sign.
unsympathischTV reports that he was in the USA for content filming and thus could not be on-site at his shop. A colleague sent him a photo of the front of the restaurant with the removed sign.
The Twitch streamer assumed it was stolen and then made his TikTok video. However, he later learned that the sign had to be removed by his team because they did not have a building permit.
They were just in the process of getting such a permit. unsympathischTV thought he could leave the sign up until then, that was at least his last stance.
He believes that one of the locals complained about the neon sign, as he further states: “If no one complains, then the city doesn’t know about it.” In his opinion, the forced removal can only be related to a report from one of the locals.
Further, unsympathischTV states that although it is the locals’ right, he just finds it “ridiculous.” He still wants to do everything “by the book” and get a permit for everything that requires one.
Two of the group members from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 you might know from other video games – at least their voices. Initially, the developers had no idea who they were dealing with.
How can this be? As CEO Guillame Broche revealed in an interview with Pirate Software (via YouTube), his development studio conducts blind auditions. This means they select voice actors solely based on their voices for the characters in the video game.
Thus, neither appearance nor reputation decides who gets hired. What matters is the talent that the selected individuals must use to convince the development team. The team sifted through countless anonymous voices.
Broche explains that the studio did not know to whom the voice samples belonged that they had received. As fate would have it, two talented voice actors were cast who you know from Final Fantasy 16 and Baldur’s Gate 3.

Ben Starr is the protagonist Clive Rosfield from the English version of Final Fantasy 16 and is even talented enough to sing in the soundtrack of Expedition 33. He voices Verso.
By the way, you will encounter Ben Starr once again as Prometheus in Hades II, which you should definitely play on Steam. Jennifer English is likely currently preparing for her role as protagonist Gwendolyn in Tides of Annihilation, which is set to release in 2026 on Steam.
Dead by Daylight has already thrilled its fans with several new skins. Now, fans of The Witcher can rejoice, as the Witcher and several characters from his universe are coming to the game.
What kind of game is this? It is Dead by Daylight. This is a multiplayer horror game where you play as either killers or survivors.
The killer must, as the name suggests, find and kill all survivors. The survivors must find their way out of the nightmare and solve several mini-games to do so. Each killer and character has their own abilities to utilize.
The game was released 9 years ago and has since been a constant success, partly because it regularly brings new content and skins. Now, the skins from The Witcher universe have been added.

For one character, there are also new voicelines directly from the original voice actor: The voice of Geralt of Rivia, Doug Cockle, will reprise his role as the Witcher and record new takes for the character for Dead by Daylight.
The developers of Dead by Daylight also have a very specific message for their players, which fans of the Witcher will understand: “If all else fails, offer the killer a game of Gwent.”

Here you will find all guides to the Nintendo Switch 2 at a glance: From tips for getting started to new features that you can use with the console.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch worldwide on June 5, 2025. To ensure a smooth launch with the console, guides are particularly useful. If you need tips and tricks for Nintendo’s new hybrid console, you will find here a collection of all important guides to the Nintendo Switch 2 on MeinMMO.
At Unreal Fest 2025, we got our first insights into the tech behind CD Projekt Red’s latest game: The Witcher 4. MeinMMO editor Sophia Weiss already feels almost at home.
The Witcher 3 was the first game I played on my self-bought PS4 in 2016. In total, I spent about 180 to 200 hours playing, after having watched 90% of Gronkh’s Let’s Play beforehand. Gerald and his friends are very dear to me.
Moreover, Velen and especially Kaer Morhen remind me a lot of my home, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen region. Admittedly, it resembles the mentioned region in the muddy autumn or spring. But somehow, it feels like home, with the moor landscape and snow-covered mountains.
The developers of this (to me) cozy game, CD Projekt Red, are currently working on the next installment of The Witcher. This time, with Gerald’s adopted daughter Ciri taking the lead. Fresh insights from the State of Unreal 2025 were recently shared, including glimpses into the new region Kovir.
And when Ciri first gazes over the vast valley during the tech demo, I have that feeling again as if I were at home. Gerald could easily be standing there – it wouldn’t have made a difference to me.
I had the opportunity to watch the tech demo a bit earlier and also got to ask Julius Girbig, the Senior Technical Animator, some questions. You can read my impressions here.
If you wish to see what the buzz is all about, this is the demo:

The tech demo of The Witcher 4 provides insights into the technology of the new game by CD Projekt Red
Ciri will be something special – and I think that’s good
The setting of the demo, the snowy peaks of Kovir, pushes all the right buttons for me, with the deep forests, mountains, and vast valleys. I am incredibly curious how Ciri’s trusty horse Kelpie will be portrayed in the final game – right now it looks like a new game is in the making for horse fans.
Kelpie is also my personal highlight because the developers are putting in real effort to simulate a realistic horse. They even implemented entirely new systems for this.
The muscles beneath the skin and fur are supposed to provide realistic movement animations. A small but fine detail.
And then, of course, Ciri comes on top. As a regular gym-goer and hobby swordswoman, I am exactly the target audience for characters like Ciri and her stories.
Based on my own experience, I know that women tend to fight (with swords) slightly differently than men. Accordingly, I wanted to know if that would affect Ciri’s animations and fighting styles in The Witcher 4.
Julius Girbig replied that they would definitely take that into account. Gerald is simply a powerhouse. Ciri is too, just in a different way. However, he couldn’t reveal more yet.
I personally speculate that with Ciri, one must approach fights more cautiously and use more tricks. For example, I’m thinking of her chain from the first trailer, traps, or her magic.
Pretty looks is not what I personally focus on as a player. For me, the graphics of The Witcher 4 already look really good – somehow cozy. What’s important to me are the story, a coherent world, and as few bugs as possible.
But all the tools presented should cover most of that: a coherent gaming experience without annoying loading screens and errors, with a consistent, vibrant world. If CD Projekt Red can implement all that as they intend. And that is quite a lot.
How CD Projekt Red dips their toes into the Unreal Engine
Ciri’s game will be the first CD Projekt Red game built not with the Red Engine, but with Unreal Engine 5. However, The Witcher 4 does not look like Unreal Engine, but rather like Red Engine.
That was intentional, Julius Girbig explained. They are putting in real effort to ensure that the look and feel their games are known for are not lost. They are also working closely with Epic to ensure the engine does everything the developers need.
One of the first things to appear in the demo is indeed Ciri’s horse Kelpie – a truly beautiful Friesian mare. As a former horse girl and Friesian fan, I am naturally a bit biased and think she is just great. However, she doesn’t only look good:
The team shows that they are very serious about the realistic movement of the animal. For this, they packed muscles beneath its fur. The tool ML Deformer is supposed to enable the following realistic movement through machine learning and a large pool of training data.
Kelpie is also animated as Root Motion Animation. This means that the mare’s animations are not entirely predefined, but are supposed to emerge from the character itself. For example, jumps will not always look the same: the animation from takeoff to landing is based on Kelpie, her position, whether with or without a rider, the ground, and finally the landing spot.
On top of that comes something called a Multi Character Motion Move Set. This is supposed to ensure that multiple characters interact coherently with each other. Specifically, Julius Girbig mentioned the tool in connection with Kelpie and Ciri:
When Ciri wants to mount her horse, the game selects from a series of animations the one that would produce the fewest animation errors based on the current positions of the two characters, the environment, and the situation. This way, Ciri should be able to elegantly mount her mare at any time.
More realistic daily routines with AI and new systems
Just before the village of Valdrest, the journey with Kelpie ends and Ciri enters the village. Here, too, a number of new systems are at work, which CD Projekt Red and Epic have designed together. Above all, the Unreal Animation Framework (UEF) and the Mass System. These are supposed to simulate bustling markets like the one in Valdrest in tandem.
The UEF is supposed to offer advanced blending, state machines, and procedurally generated animations. A state machine can be thought of as a sequence of events or a schedule for a game element like an NPC. So, for example, it is set whether an NPC will go to buy fish or drink at the tavern. In the specific case of The Witcher 4, there should even be a larger selection of possible activities that such an NPC can carry out on a daily basis.
The Mass System, on the other hand, is supposed to manage so-called agents, i.e., NPCs, and ensure realistic scenes and complex interactions.
This is particularly evident in large group scenes: According to CD Projekt Red, during the demo alone within Valdrest, about 300 NPCs are supposed to follow their daily routines, controlled by the two systems.
Artificial intelligence is also in use. According to Julius Girbig, however, this should not just generate thousands of new interactions out of nowhere. The developers are currently working on a large selection of interaction and reaction possibilities from which the AI will select and match the most sensible ones, similar to the multi-character motion move set.
Not every day in Valdrest is supposed to be the same – and neither is any demo run: If Ciri takes off her hood, someone might spit at her feet. If she keeps it on, that won’t happen.
However, the innovations in the world of The Witcher 4 should also be visibly apparent to the players. With the stronger base hardware of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, CD Projekt Red aims to raise the level of detail in the overworld. In the demo, for example, they zoom in close to a tree crown, presenting individual leaves on branches with correct lighting.
And with the so-called Fastgeo streaming, the environment is supposed to load especially quickly. This aims to prevent suddenly in-popping structures and slow loading. This also means fewer loading screens for the open world. This tool is also one of those created by CD Projekt Red in cooperation with Epic.
Overall, the demo, as well as the conversation with Julius Girbig, gives me the feeling that CD Projekt Red is very concerned about ensuring that what makes a Witcher game remains intact for this fourth installment. Just better on the technical side.
Kovir reminds me of the Alps. Yes, such beautiful views exist in real life too.
The Witcher 4 could be MY game
With the new setting in Kovir, Ciri as the main character, and Kelpie, I feel right at home. High mountains, snow-capped peaks, and a badass lady in the lead. I feel truly seen. Almost as if CD Projekt Red found my Christmas wish list and thought, let’s make a really cool game for Sophia, so she doesn’t have to go LARPing anymore.
Yes, I would like The Witcher 4 right now. Immediately. (Please.) But the game is still in development.
In terms of the intended outcome, I also hope that the developers have all the time in the world to make The Witcher 4 the best game it can be. My expectations for the game are now set accordingly, and I am curious whether the devs will deliver what they promised: a great Witcher game.

In Pokémon GO, a new season is starting. We take a look at some of the highlights. Which Pokémon should you catch?
A new season “Delightful Days” has begun in Pokémon GO.
It started on June 3rd at 10:00 AM and will run for nearly three months. Plenty of time to catch many Pokémon. But which ones are particularly worth it?
From the announcement of the season, we can already pick out some highlights. Therefore, we will take a closer look at a few Pokémon: Which ones should you pay special attention to?
Zacian and Zamazenta – Crown Forms
Start video
Pokémon GO starts new season Pleasant Days – Trailer for the season
Zacian and Zamazenta have been around in Pokémon GO for a while, but the crown forms are appearing in the game for the first time this year. According to current information, they will be among the best Pokémon in the PvP Master League.
Both will appear at the GO Fest in their special crown forms, in raids. From these raids, you can obtain the necessary energy to change the forms of the monsters.
Voldi and Bellektro
The little electric dog comes from the Pokémon games Sword and Shield. Unsurprisingly, it also belongs to the Electric type.
While Voldi primarily impresses with its cuteness, its evolution Bellektro is known for its speed: According to the Pokédex, it can enhance its legs through electricity, allowing it to run fast and long distances.
With both, you probably shouldn’t expect top attackers. But collectors can look forward to something new here.

Nigiragi
With Nigiragi, you probably shouldn’t hope for great attacking abilities, but this Dragon-Water Pokémon is also something for collectors.
Nigiragi has three different forms: the hanging, the curved, and the stretched form. Here too, you can do some serious collecting.
Hisui-Dressella
Dressella in the new trailer
Dressella, as an evolution of Lilminip, is already in the game, but the Hisui form is still missing. Hisui-Dressella brings the type combination of Grass and Fighting.
Looking at the previous Hisui forms, it is likely that we will not evolve Hisui-Dressella but will have to catch it in raids.
Miniras
Miniras is a dragon that evolves first into Mediras, then into Grandiras. Grandiras is a Dragon-Fighting Pokémon that belongs to the “pseudo-legendary” Pokémon: monsters whose stats are so strong that they should actually be legendary.
Other monsters from this line include Dragoran, Trikephalo, Knakrack, and similar ones. These monsters in Pokémon GO are also known for being very rare for a long time – just like Miniras.
However, this is changing now as it will have its own Community Day on June 21st in Pokémon GO. So you can catch it in large numbers – and also secure the Shiny!
Gierspenst
The little coin Pokémon unexpectedly appeared in Pokémon GO some time ago, with a special debut and especially a special way of catching. It is not easy to obtain, and its evolution Monetigo is even more complicated.
To what extent it will be highlighted in this season is still unclear, but it is noticeable that it is visible in the trailer. Additionally, its golden PokéStops appear in the season graphics.
Some players suspect that it will play a role as Pokémon #999 during this year’s Pokémon GO anniversary. That would make sense, as we are celebrating the ninth birthday of the game.
Lunala
Lunala in the new trailer
It is also unclear how Lunala will be involved in this season, but it appears at the end of the trailer. This Pokémon could only be obtained very limitedly before, by evolving a Cosmog into Lunala – and that was also only rarely possible.
The trailer now hints that we will get a new chance to obtain Lunala. This time, maybe in raids?
Articuno with Special Background
Many of you may already have this Pokémon. But if not, you can now get it quite easily: The free GO Pass in June rewards you with an Articuno at level 100. It even comes with a special background if you need a special collecting incentive.
Articuno is a legendary Ice-type Pokémon from the first generation that has many fans. If you still don’t have it, make sure to complete the GO Pass during the month.
More interesting Pokémon: In addition to those mentioned so far, there are a few more highlights that we will quickly list here.
After Gigantamax Gortrom, Liberlo and Inteleon also enter the game in their Giga forms. You can catch them if you have enough players – since defeating Gigantamax monsters is pretty difficult. At least you can now do it from a distance.
Speaking of Gigantamax: according to the trailer, we can expect a Gigantamax return of Lapras.
Mehikel appears worldwide at the GO Fest if you have a ticket. It has only been available at Safari events until now.
Clavion also appears for ticket holders at the GO Fest. It has only been available in France until now.
And finally, you can also catch Volcanion at the GO Fest – with a ticket.
Some Pokémon have thus been announced, but we firmly expect that further interesting Pokémon and debuts will appear in the game during the season. As always, we will keep you updated! And if you want to know what’s coming up next: Here are all events in Pokémon GO in June 2025.

In Elden Ring: Nightreign there are up to 8 classes with which you can plunge into the fray, but not all are meant for every play style. We show you the best classes in our tier list and explain what strengths and weaknesses you can expect.
How did the ranking come about? The ranking was compiled by our Souls expert Christos. To reach an informed judgment, he compared things like versatility, the effort to master the class, and the advantages and disadvantages of each class.
Additionally, he unlocked each class and tested them in co-op as well as solo to see how well they actually perform. Feel free to leave your opinion about the respective classes and discuss it with other players in the comments. But now let’s get to the ranking.

The launch trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign shows atmospheric scenes and boss fights
Rank S – The best classes for all occasions
Wylder
Wylder
Why is the Wylder so good? The Wylder is the all-round class and one of the most beginner-friendly classes available in Nightreign. His claw shot makes him very mobile, as he can use it for movement as well as in combat to pull enemies towards him or temporarily latch onto them to close distances.
As far as damage is concerned, he can deal considerable damage. When the Wylder uses his ultimate ability, the Charge Strike, an iron spike is rammed into your enemies with a large explosion – in the best case, they will be knocked back to make room for a critical hit.
Last but not least, the passive ability “Sixth Sense” comes into play, allowing you to survive a fatal hit. This is very practical for both veterans and beginners, as it allows you to enter combat more relaxed and tolerate the occasional mistake.
Pro
Sixth Sense forgives mistakes
Ulti is strong to unbalance enemies
Focus on strength weapons to deal a lot of stance damage
Very mobile thanks to claw shot
High stamina allows for many attacks
Contra
Focus on melee combat
Low FP, thus poorly usable for talents and magic
Rogue
Rogue
Why is the Rogue so good? The Rogue is simply a walking bulldozer that crushes every enemy into the ground. You have a lot of health, great balance, and the power to wield devastating weapons effectively. But let’s move on to his skills, which emphasize his power even more.
First comes his character talent, the Revenge. This skill allows you to give your enemies a headbutt that deals little damage but can impair enemies in their stance. In the best case, you can even land a critical hit after a Revenge. With his passive skill, you will additionally not be knocked out of your Revenge even if one of the Night Lords hits you with full force.
Regarding his ultimate ability, you summon a giant gravestone out of nowhere. This deals significant area damage, increases balance for you and your allies, and also creates a platform to temporarily escape the fight. Overall, the Rogue is an aggressive tank that can take a lot of punishment but can also deal it out. You can even run into a horde of enemies and hardly need to fear dying.
Pro
Can take a lot of hits
High damage
Can break the stance of enemies and bosses with ease
Ulti can be used defensively as well as offensively
Excels with weapons that require high strength
Contra
Often plays like a sluggish tank
Ranged combat, magic, and talents suffer from low FP
Shines mainly with aggressive players
Rank A – Solid classes that are difficult to master
Iron Eye
Iron Eye
What makes Iron Eye good? The Iron Eye is a solid class and the best choice if you want to play a ranged character. Equipped with his bow, he attacks his enemies but is not averse to stepping into melee to eliminate his opponents. Through his passive ability, Iron Eye also discovers more loot than others, which benefits his teammates.
Due to his background as an assassin, Iron Eye possesses the talent “Marking”. With this ability, enemies are marked with a dagger. This marking creates a weakness that can then be destroyed to stagger enemies.
In the ultimate ability, you shoot a supersonic arrow through everything that lies on the trajectory of your projectile. This can be useful for breaking weak points, eliminating groups of enemies, or bringing back distant and concealed allies to life. The Iron Eye is thus a very effective class, especially for those who prefer a tactical approach.
Pro
Finds more loot for himself and his allies
Safe combat from a distance
Can stagger enemies
Wounded allies can be easily revived with a well-placed ulti
Contra
Has low health points
Problems with stamina
Does not have much balance
Passive playstyle may be boring for some
Executor
Executor
What makes Executor good? The Executor is one of the best classes in the game when it comes to fighting enemies, but only if you can master him.
One of the most important talents is the cursed sword of the Executor. Players can draw the sword and parry almost any attack at the right moment – even those from bosses and spells. If you parry consecutively, the blade glows, and you can unleash a strong counterattack that can kill or knock back enemies. Unfortunately, drawing the sword slows your movement.
With the ulti, you transform into a beast of the crucible and can crush enemies, deal heavy damage to bosses, or bring back allies. The form is somewhat clunky, but with some practice, you will also learn to be quick on your feet with it.
The Executor naturally has a high arcane scaling, which benefits players who rely on status effects. Bleeding, poison, rot, and frost can thus be activated much faster.
Pro
Strong in one-on-one combat
Can parry almost any attack
Beast form makes you a powerful tank to save allies
High chance to trigger status effects on enemies
Contra
Cursed sword slows you down
Beast form is clunky
Class is only powerful when you learn to parry, which is difficult
Guardian
Guardian
What makes the Guardian so good? The Guardian is the second tank on the list, but this one focuses on a more defensive playstyle. The Guardian has a lot of stamina and the highest number of health points of all classes – he is designed to take damage.
As an eagle, this class naturally possesses wings that he can use in combat. With the skill “Tornado,” a whirlwind is summoned that pulls enemies to the center and deflects projectiles. The ulti, on the other hand, is a strong option to achieve two things:
Rush into an area of enemies and take control of the area
Revive allies
The second point is very practical, as no matter how many health bars your colleagues possess, if they are on the ground, they can both be revived with an ulti if they are within the impact radius. This can decide victory or defeat in critical situations or during the final boss fight.
Pro
Has the most health points and forgives many mistakes
Effective tank/supporter
Can dominate the battlefield with his skills
Perfect for drawing aggro from bosses
Also aggressive playstyle possible
Contra
Has no dodge roll
Often plays like a sluggish tank
Poor magician and little FP for effectively using talents
Rank B – Good classes, but not for all occasions
Countess
Countess
What makes the Countess solid? With the Countess, you have a solid choice as a fighter/support. In combat, she deals less damage compared to the listed tanks, but her skill “Reenactment” repeats the last executed attacks, effectively doubling the damage.
As a supporter, she can make herself and allies invisible for a certain time thanks to her ulti. This can be especially useful when you want to escape critical situations or revive allies.
What makes the Countess even more interesting is her passive ability “Balance”. With this, you can dodge twice in a row and in general reduce your stamina consumption during these actions and while attacking. The Countess has much more FP compared to the other classes, so a hybrid build of magic and melee is worthwhile here.
However, one of the most significant downsides is her available HP and the lack of talent to withstand hits, as she cannot do that. In capable hands, the Countess can deal well in a group, but solo, it is difficult to survive with her.
Pro
Versatile playstyle possible
Can act as a supporter
Doubling damage thanks to skill
Very agile and mobile
Contra
Few health points
Strengths are mainly evident in a group
Little damage without “Reenactment”
Poor at breaking stances
Low balance
Rank C – Strong classes but too niche
Hermit
Hermit
Why is the Hermit niche? The Hermit is the sorceress par excellence, and she demonstrates this with her skills on the battlefield. She marks her enemies with her ulti “Soul Blood Song” and ensures they take more damage – additionally, the LP and FP of the sorceress are restored.
In Limveldt you will also find various wands that can perform different types of magic. Depending on the element, you can absorb this with the talent of the Hermit and then create your own magic that can debuff enemies or bombard a large area. This can be powerful, but only if you are in a group and have the time to execute the action – solo, it’s almost impossible.
Lastly, she can restore FP for herself and allies through her affinity traces. All in all, the Hermit is solid, but only if she is in a group. Alone, she often has no chance, as she has far too little health, relies on FP, and almost gives way in melee.
Pro
Strong damage
Focus on safe ranged combat
Constantly has the opportunity to regenerate LP and FP
Possesses a variety of options for casting elements through sorcery
Contra
Few health points
Without FP, you’re in trouble
Unsuitable in close combat
Ghost
Ghost
Why is the Ghost niche? The Ghost is the summoner in the group and can summon useful spirits in battle with her skills that are versatile. To do this, she uses her lyre and can choose between a Pagan, a large colossus, and a gigantic skeleton. Each of the spirits has different fighting styles and robustness.
What makes this class invaluable in the group is her ulti “Immortal March”. With this skill, you and your group become temporarily immortal. Used correctly, this skill can decide life or death.
The Ghost can be effective in both melee and ranged combat, but her low health points force her to avoid direct confrontation with an enemy and prefer to act in the background as a supporter.
Pro
High FP for miracles and sorcery
Can make the group and herself immortal
Can summon spirits
Contra
Has low health points
Defense is very weak
Spirits do not withstand much damage
