In Call of Duty: Warzone, a new contract arrived in the war zone with update 1.20. Although it is actually pretty cool, many players are complaining about it. Because another important contract was removed.

Update 1.5. 10:42 AM: In an emergency patch on April 30th, the change of contracts in Call of Duty: Warzone has been reverted. The protest was apparently too large.

What is this new contract? Since the huge update 1.20 on April 29th, you can earn the strong rewards of a new contract in Call of Duty: Warzone. If you activate “Most Wanted” you will be visible on the maps for 5 minutes as a small, red crown and thereby exposed to a large risk.

If you survive your bounty timer, the contract grants your fallen team members a respawn. So instead of stuffing the $4,500 into the buy stations, you bring your buddies back to the battlefield. At least if everything goes smoothly – Unlike the CoD streamer “TimTheTatman” who celebrated too early.

In “4 player BR” you can save up to $13,500 with 3 fallen team mates. The highest reward a contract can yield in the Warzone and a strong opportunity for surviving players to give their team a new chance. But the contract hasn’t been received as well as one might think at first glance. Because another important contract almost completely disappeared from the Warzone: The bounty hunting.

“Most Wanted” displaces “Bounty” – Significantly changes the match flow

Why was bounty so important? In the Warzone, matches often follow a certain pattern:

• Landing at a hot spot with full action
• Somehow maintaining concentration during the mid-game
• In the endgame, things heat up every second and opponents can come from all directions
  • The obligatory visit to the gulag in between

To spice up the rather dull mid-game and not lose focus during that time, bounty contracts were often relied upon. Here you got a target displayed on the map and could then hunt the enemy specifically. Often, the target was also part of a team, which was almost like a side quest completed at the same time.

This brought several minutes of action that would otherwise probably have been spent camping or with the rather quiet contracts “Recon” and “Looting”. While it could always go wrong, bounty hunting was the best contract to maintain your momentum after a good start. Here again are the contracts at a glance:

How does this now affect the matches? Especially now at the start of the new contracts, the matches are playing out quite differently for some players. Instead of promoting action in the mid-game with bounty contracts, the inclination to camp increases as wounded teams want to revive their members with the contracts.

There were already many ways to participate in the game again after being knocked out:

• Team mates can revive
• There are self-revive tokens
• After a complete death, you go once to the gulag
• Fallen team mates can be bought back for $4,500

Now, there is one more respawn opportunity, and towards the end, even more players are likely to be populated in the match. During a round on the update day, there were up to 7 “Most Wanted” contracts activated simultaneously. In a “BR 3 player” mode, that means potentially 14 opponents returning to the battlefield.

While this could settle down a bit when more aggressive teams start hunting the camped “Most Wanted” players, overall, the mid-game is likely to suffer from this subtle change, making the endgame even more intense. However, this now gives us more time to uncover the secret story about the bunkers.

Pro says “Bad decision” and thousands complain along

What do the players think about it? There is some backlash here, although the criticism is not specifically about the new contract, but about the swapping of the contracts. Even some prominent players voiced their opinions, like former world champion Tyler “TeePee” Polchow from 2014.

He says on Twitter: “Removing bounties from the Warzone is a very, very bad decision and I am not happy about it at all.”

The tweet has already received over 13,000 likes and the comments below speak a clear language:

• @Potthoff: “Most of the time, teams were on the bounty hunt to give the game some meaning until the last circles, sigh.”
• @OlafFBLV: “Wait… They added this [contract] and removed bounties? What a mess, man.”
• “@Maven: “The flow of the game feels really strange now. I was used to hunting from bounty to bounty to bounty, haha.”

There are sporadic reactions that are quite glad about the change. Players who prefer to play quietly, sneak or hide during phases of the match instead of pushing, no longer have to worry about being randomly selected as a bounty target. These players can now execute their tactics undisturbed.

Will this stay like this? If the negative opinions solidify in the coming days, a reaction from the developers is quite expected. It is very likely that we will soon see bounties back in the major BR game modes of the Warzone.

By the way, bounties are still available in the solo BRs. In addition, trucks are back in solo mode. After long complaints, the unfair vehicles that turned the endgame of the Battle Royale into more of a demolition derby have disappeared.

The Twitch streamer TimTheTatman was on the verge of completing the new contract “Most Wanted” in Call of Duty: Warzone. He was already celebrating, but at the proverbial last second, he got taken out.

This is the reward: In Warzone, the new contract “Most Wanted” has been available since the last update. This allows your entire team to return if you survive for a few minutes. The special thing is: During that time, a bounty is placed on you. All the opponents hunt you.

TimTheTatman had activated exactly this contract. He took cover in a house and seemed to be completing the contract, but just before the timer expired, he failed.

Last-second kill prevents the respawn

This is the clip: TimTheTatman had just taken out an enemy team that was hunting him. Only a few seconds remained, and his whole team would have been back in the battle:

His teammates and he were already counting down, but with 3 seconds left, he was suddenly caught from the side. A sniper on the roof of another house had seen him and took him out with a headshot.

After a brief shock and the statement “Oh my God, I got sniped!” he and his team burst out laughing. The kill just a few seconds before the timer expired was probably too funny, as he and his team were already looking forward to the respawn of their teammates.

What is this contract about? For many players, it is probably the ultimate reward to bring back their entire team into the game. After all, until now, you could only occasionally bring back your teammates for a fee of $4,500.

Especially towards the end of the round, such a contract can be truly invaluable. Because with it, you can bring back 3 players at once in the “4-man BR” and gain new momentum for the rest of the match.

However, achieving this reward is quite difficult. A bounty is placed on the player for a full 5 minutes, and he is openly visible to all opponents on the Warzone maps. You are literally hunted across the entire map. So if you are not yet experienced in Warzone, you should choose one of the other contracts.

The greater the joy when you succeed with the contract, the more bitter it is when you get taken out in the proverbial last second.

Call of Duty: Warzone will focus on events like Fortnite and also advance the story running in the background. This hidden story apparently continues with the new update 1.20. Players are increasingly encountering mysterious access cards. Are they the solution to the great bunker mystery?

New update is here: On April 29, CoD: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare received the new major update 1.20. This brought several changes to the game, including some not listed in the patch notes.

There are now, among other things, mysterious red access cards with which players have not yet been able to do anything. However, data miners have discovered something exciting in the new game data: The mysterious bunkers might soon open.

Warzone and story? Recently, the developers at Infinity Ward announced that Warzone will focus on events like those in Fortnite. This aims to advance the story and develop the world and characters of the battle royale.

They want to pursue the approach of storytelling through the game that Fortnite has successfully used since 2018:

• Things should just happen, without much explanation
• These “things” should lead to changes, events, or occurrences
• In doing so, CoD wants to be “more mature and darker” than Fortnite.

And after the recent update, it looks like that is exactly what is happening.

Recently, the mysterious bunkers on the CoD: Warzone map have sparked debates. Many players are anticipating an exciting development. So far, the bunkers are not accessible. Now, mysterious access cards have come into play. How is everything connected? What might we expect at Warzone soon?

Mysterious access cards are in the game: Since the last update, players have occasionally stumbled upon a new item – the red access card.

As for what it is for, so far it is unknown. Nothing has yet been discovered that shows what the card does or where it can be used. However, many assume it is directly related to the bunkers – even though it probably won’t directly open the protective structures.

What is the deal with the bunkers in Warzone? Bunkers are the big mystery of Call of Duty: Warzone – and apparently also part of the background story. Numerous of these protective structures are scattered across the battle royale map but remain inaccessible thus far (at least normally).

Players have been speculating for a while about what these bunkers are, whether and how to get inside, and what we might find in them. Some have managed to glitch into some bunkers in CoD Warzone, but not much has been discovered inside so far. It is mostly empty or unfinished areas of the game world. However, they are sure: something is coming, something will develop.

So far, players have not been able to open the bunkers normally – not even in connection with the many phones, keypads, or computers on the map that were thought to be the solution.

It is confirmed – the bunkers will open: Until now, there were no indications in the data that the bunkers can actually be opened. That has now changed.

With the latest patch, a new animation was introduced, showing the bunker door opening clearly. Additionally, sound files have emerged that are related to the opening process of the bunker door. So it seems that we will soon be able to open and enter the bunkers – possibly with the help of the red access card.

What can we expect in the bunkers?

The topic is being actively discussed, and there are numerous theories about what we might find in the protective buildings. This seems to be the kind of development and storytelling that Infinity Ward wants to focus on.

Keep in mind that these are still just theories and speculations, not confirmed facts. Here are some of them:

New loot: The most common theory is that there are so-called loot bunkers in the style of the vaults from Apex Legends. Many assume that if one manages to open a bunker, they will be rewarded with high-quality loot.

Data also supports this theory, as it suggests that the bunkers (or the surrounding areas) should provide the best quality loot.

Safe hideout: Some speculate that the bunkers might not only offer loot but also protection. Some players think it is possible that certain events could be triggered in the future in Warzone as an additional element – for example, a zombie attack or a nuclear strike. One would thus have to fight for the bunkers to take shelter from this danger.

Vehicle: Others assume that there could be a new vehicle waiting for players in the bunkers – for example, a powerful armored truck like in Ground War. So whoever manages to crack one of these bunkers could potentially secure a decisive advantage in battle.

New areas: Others believe that the map of Warzone might change soon and that the bunkers could represent entrances to new areas where battles can take place.

Finally, Infinity Ward has announced that they plan events in the style of Fortnite that should not only develop and change the story but also the world of Warzone.

What’s next in Warzone? Whatever the developers have in store with the bunkers and the red cards – the big secret is likely to remain hidden for much longer. After the recent data and map findings, it should not be long before we can finally see what is behind the thick bunker doors.
