Purifying Crypto Pokémon in Pokémon GO is not always the best choice if you want a strong Pokémon. Especially after the GO Fest with Crypto Mewtwo, -Articuno, -Zapdos, and -Moltres, you should reconsider this decision.
What is it about? After the GO Fest 2020, some trainers among you who purchased a ticket had the chance to secure special Crypto Pokémon. Among them are Mewtwo and the legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
Many want to purify these Pokémon from their Crypto status. But that’s not the best choice. Trainers from the community are warning against it.
To Purify Crypto Pokémon or Not?
What does purifying bring? With the “Purify” function, you return the Crypto Pokémon from their battle status to their normal state. This also results in an increase in Combat Points (CP). Additionally, the IV values increase by 2 points upon purification if they are 13 or lower.
This may sound good at first, but the Crypto status is even stronger and should be retained. Trainers on Reddit also warn against it. User ac_faraway writes there, “Do not purify Crypto Mewtwo, do not purify the Crypto birds” – user Teban54 writes, “Reminder: DO NOT purify your Crypto Mewtwo”.
But why?
That’s why purifying is not the best choice: One of the biggest advantages of Crypto Pokémon is that your attack is 20% stronger (DPS). However, the defense of these Pokémon also decreases simultaneously. This makes these Pokémon particularly exciting for raids, as the lower defense value plays less of a role there than the stronger attack.
Teban54 explains on reddit: “The real opponent in raids is the countdown, not the raid boss. This means that, at the same level, a Crypto Pokémon beats a raid 20% faster than its non-Crypto variant. And it is strictly better.”
Additionally, here are the following reasons from skewtr on reddit:
Crypto Pokémon are rarer than non-Cryptos
IV values are not as crucial as the Crypto status with 20% more DPS
In PvP, Cryptos deal the same damage
It is impossible to turn the purified form back into a Crypto Pokémon
Crypto Mewtwo is likely the strongest Pokémon currently available in the game
Other players find the Crypto Pokémon so visually cool that they don’t want to purify them.
As you can see, there are many advantages to not purifying your Crypto Pokémon and keeping them in this status. Even if you currently have too few Stardust or candies to boost their CP values. It’s better to wait for more resources than to purify them.
Amazon is hosting a limited-time stress test for the MMO New World. We will let you know who can participate in the article.
What kind of test is this? Amazon refers to it as the “Density Test”. Essentially, it is a regular stress test. The goal is to allow as many players as possible onto the servers to test their stability under stressful conditions.
Have you not had the opportunity to try out the MMO New World yet? Maybe you will succeed during the stress test.
Test New World with a bit of luck
Who can participate? The developers invite everyone who was already part of the Alpha and did not cause any issues. However, the “New World” creators do not clarify what this means exactly.
Additionally, all those who pre-ordered New World through Amazon or Steam before July 26 are included.
Also, some players will receive an invitation who signed up for the beta before July 9. Amazon will make a random selection from these players.
This is how you will be informed: If you pre-ordered the MMO New World through Steam, you need to check the “Steam Feed” or the community page of the game for details on the test. You will not receive an email indicating whether you are eligible to participate in the stress test.
If you pre-ordered New World directly through Amazon, you will receive an email with the Steam key and details.
If you have already participated in the Alpha, you will also receive an email informing you about the participation in the “Density Test”.
If you have signed up for the beta and are selected for the stress test, your participation will be confirmed via an email which will also include a Steam key.

You might soon experience New World yourself instead of just watching videos of the MMO.
Can players report on the stress test? No, the test is under an NDA. Only later in the further testing phases should the NDA be lifted.
When exactly does the test start? The “Density Test” of the MMO New World begins on July 30 at 11 PM. The invitations should now be sent out gradually.
By the way, the game will be played on the US server North America/IAD/us-east1.
How long will the test last? Three days are currently planned, during which you should achieve different goals in the MMO for testing purposes.
July 30 – You must complete the tutorial and reach a settlement
July 31/ August 1 – Complete missions to reach at least level 10. Join one of the factions.
August 1 / August 2 – Try to reach level 20 through quests.
Originally, it was planned to open the server only at certain times on the respective days – mainly in the middle of the night our time. However, since this was not very convenient for European players (August 1, 3 AM to 6 AM and August 1, 10 PM to 1 AM on August 2), it will now remain open continuously.
Whether the stress test will last even longer beyond this is currently still unknown.
Snipers are frightening enemies in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Warzone. If you want to be one of the feared soldiers as a controller player, take a look at a technique here that makes all the difference.
If you want to be really good with the sniper rifle in Call of Duty, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel or have a PC mouse. There are a few techniques you can refer to. These include:
Quick-Scoping
Hard-Scoping
Drag-Scoping
Exciting for controller players: Drag-Scoping. With this technique, you don’t rely on your precision with your right thumb, but rather your reaction with the trigger. This makes hitting much easier, and the longtime CoD sniper and streamer “IceManIsaac” even says: “It changed my life” – which he might very well mean seriously given his high playtime.
In one of his YouTube videos, “IceManIsaac” explains Drag-Scoping for controller players with the right settings and behaviors. MeinMMO has summarized his insights for you, and we embed the English video here:

Drag-Scoping – Explanation and Settings for Controller Players
How does it work exactly? In simple terms, you increase your chances of hitting because you rely on a different mechanic.
With Drag-Scoping, you don’t even try to have the enemy directly in your crosshairs when aiming, but rather aim beside them and then move the crosshair over the enemy to pull the trigger at the right moment. The exact steps:
This technique is aided by aim assist with the controller
To benefit from the mechanic, aim with your large scope a good distance beside the enemy
Then pull your crosshair towards the opponent
Once the crosshair is on target, fire the bullet from the barrel
You aim past the opponent, pull the crosshair over the opponent, and take the shot at the right moment.
Why is this technique so good? With the controller, this is really strong in the current Call of Duty because the aim assist supports you. As soon as the crosshair gets too close to the opponent, CoD: MW 2019 reduces the sensitivity a bit, and it feels as if your scope is slower for a moment.
You can use this “reduction” to train your muscle memory. “IceManIsaac” believes that with enough practice, you almost automatically hit the right moment to fire, as you have the moment when the assist kicks in as a point of reference.
What settings should I use? The streamer recommends that you, as a sniper, should use relatively low sensitivity settings. Too high values jeopardize a secure shot, but you might be slightly faster with your hit. It depends on your preferences.
Here are the settings that “IceManIsaac” recommends:
Aim assist scaling with field of view: Enabled (PC only)
Additionally, we encourage you to make other settings that improve your view and free you from annoying filters. It’s also important to be aware of the details of aim assist. “IceManIsaac” uses the “Standard Assist” due to his habits. However, for snipers, switching to “Precision” or “Focused” is worthwhile, as the “Inertia Effect” is even stronger.
Technique, settings, practice – that’s all a good sniper needs.
Stay in Motion and Refine Your Technique
What else is there to know about Drag-Scoping? With this technique, the focus shifts from precise aiming to proper timing. Yet both are important to be really good.
If you practice Drag-Scoping, your goal should be to achieve headshots with this technique. Especially in battle royale Warzone, headshots with sniper rifles are important, as this is the only way to knock out your enemies with a single hit. In regular multiplayer, a single bullet to the chest is enough with the large sniper rifles.
The “dragging” over the opponent doesn’t always have to be horizontal. However, to trigger the “trigger moment” of aim assist, there always needs to be a little space between the crosshair and the defenseless enemy.
Stay in motion while “scoping” to be a more difficult target. Move without a system from left to right, duck, jump, move out of sight, run a bit, and aim again at the opponent. All this helps you to stay in motion, but it also helps you take fewer hits. Especially “jumping” and “ducking” are important to keep your head at a different height.
Why should I use this technique? As a controller player, you should get used to “Drag Scoping” with snipers, as it offers significant advantages over directly aiming at the enemy.
Just like with “Slide-Cancel”, your muscle memory will gradually imprint the shooting sequence. As soon as aim assist triggers, your brain knows that it’s time to shoot at any moment. The more often you do it, the better your timing will become.
Try it out, and you will be surprised at how easily enemies can be hit even without much practice.

In Destiny 2, some Guardians recently experienced a strike of a different kind. More than 20 players landed at the boss and took him down quickly.
This is how strikes usually go: Strikes are a type of mini-dungeon in Destiny 2. Essentially, they are slightly longer missions designed for smaller teams. However, the maximum number of players is actually limited to 3 Guardians. If you want to team up in PvE with more than 3 Guardians, you have to resort to raids or the Menagerie.
However, the Reddit user and Destiny player C_Lav604 now reports of a strike experience of a different kind that happened to him during the Season 11.
Player lands in a strike with more than 20 other Guardians
Guardian reports on a special strike experience: C_Lav604 shared a special moment on Reddit that he recently experienced while playing Destiny 2. He had just logged into the game and was initially on his way to the Tower as usual. However, he never arrived there.
The strike “The Corrupted”
After Destiny 2 took a while to load, he found himself unexpectedly in the strike “The Corrupted” – with already 3 other players. Shortly thereafter, one of the 3 left the strike, but C_Lav604 decided to continue the strike with the 2 randoms.
When he arrived at the boss arena, things took an unusual turn. Neither the boss nor other Guardians were visible. However, when he took a quick look around, he discovered more than 20 Guardian names above him. Suddenly, the boss music started playing, and the final battle began. At the same moment, over 20 Guardians were teleported to C_Lav604 in the arena.
C_Lav604 in the strike (Source: C_Lav604)
What followed was a real slaughter fest. Supers were everywhere, and within seconds, the usually most frustrating strike boss lay defeated. The more than 20 Guardians grabbed their loot and celebrated together for a moment before heading back to orbit.
How did this happen? This experience is certainly unique but not entirely new. Players have occasionally reported that they – apparently due to errors during the matchmaking process – end up in the instances of other groups. Thus, strikes, raids, or other activities can sometimes be tackled with more players than normally intended.
The overview after the strike (Source: C_Lav604)
What do other players say? On Reddit, many players appreciate this experience and celebrate it. Within about 11 hours, the corresponding post has already received more than 2,300 upvotes.
Many a Guardian wishes for exactly what C_Lav604 experienced – namely PvE activities that go beyond the usual team sizes and allow for large-scale battles in strikes, escalation protocols, or even during patrols. This wish has been circulating in the community since Destiny 1.
Some hope for truly challenging versions of strikes or raids, where they can team up with more players. But what do you think? Have you also had such extraordinary experiences? Would you like to see more players or larger teams in the various activities of Destiny 2? Would that fundamentally change your gaming experience?
The most annoying people in World of Warcraft are finally getting punished. Advertising for boost runs is apparently finally facing penalties.
A large part of the endgame of World of Warcraft consists of visiting “Mythic+” dungeons. Those who don’t have a fixed group look in the search tool instead and try to find players. However, finding a “normal” group is not always that easy. Often, the search tool is flooded with annoying offers. Blizzard is apparently taking action against this now.
What is the problem? Many players have already fully completed their characters and are waiting for the new expansion Shadowlands. They want to earn decent gold until then. Thus, these players are now offering boosting groups. Here, one player pays for the entire group and is pulled through a tough dungeon. Good loot and a strong chest at the end of the week await.
However, the problem is that these boosting groups have taken over for a while now. The entire search tool is often overcrowded with them, causing “normal” groups to be completely drowned out. Promoting such groups within the search tool is actually prohibited.
What happened? Now there is finally a glimmer of hope. Because a screenshot has appeared in the World of Warcraft subreddit. The user NargoEUW shows an image of the notification for a temporary account suspension.
The message states that the affected account was suspended for 24 hours because it had offered “boosts and carries” in the group finder.
This little news was extremely well received by the WoW community. More than 5,000 upvotes rained down on this post. Apparently a topic that interests many people. This is also reflected in the comments.
Sometimes Blizzard does take action.
Is advertising for boost runs allowed? In principle, advertising is allowed – however, only in the trade channel and only if the compensation involves gold. Selling boost runs for real money or promoting these groups in the group search tool is, however, prohibited and has been for quite some time. The fact that Blizzard is now apparently cracking down and issuing mild suspensions could pay off in the long run.
Reporting groups is simple – 2 clicks are enough.
How can you report such groups? This can be done directly from the group finder menu. Just right-click on the respective group and select “Report” – then you just need to choose the correct reason and a report will be sent to Blizzard.
Of course, one can only hope that this was not an isolated case and that Blizzard will now take action more frequently against such cases.

The MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online has been suffering from performance issues for years. This is particularly severe in Cyrodiil, the PvP area. Extensive live tests are now expected to take place there. Zenimax also communicated ideas to improve performance. However, these ideas have sparked heated discussions: some players foresee a broken gameplay.
Update July 29: We have added a counter-position from players in the article who are happy about the adjustments or at least neutral towards them. Additionally, some players have proposed other solutions, which we have also included for balance of opinions.
What is ESO’s problem? About a year ago, in July 2019, the developer Zenimax announced that they would address some technical issues of ESO. Among these was performance, which is particularly problematic in Cyrodiil, the place where 3 factions fight against each other.
What has happened now? The next step is to specifically improve performance in PvP. To this end, Game Director Rich Lambert has published a detailed post explaining the problem and providing 4 proposed solutions, which are to be tested live in the game (via ESO Forum).
However, none of the proposals seem to convince. Some players fear that their beloved MMORPG will become less dynamic and that classes will lose their uniqueness.
The combat system in ESO is considered very dynamic. Players do not want to lose this.
AoE abilities are the big problem
Why are there performance issues? Lambert explains that a major issue in Cyrodiil is that players frequently use many AoE abilities. This was not originally intended and places a heavy load on the servers.
In principle, resources like Magicka and Stamina should limit the use of abilities by players. However, over time, new content like the Champion System, new equipment, and new skills were added to the game.
Players are now capable of continuously using AoE abilities in larger groups without running out of resources.
What do the proposed solutions look like? Lambert presented 4 solutions in his post that are to be tested live in the game:
Solution 1: A global cooldown of 3 seconds – This change aims to ensure that every player has a 3-second cooldown on all AoE abilities upon using one.
Solution 2: An individual cooldown of 3 seconds – With this change, each AoE ability receives a 3-second cooldown after use.
Solution 3: Increased costs – In this step, there is no cooldown; instead, all AoE abilities should consume more resources.
Solution 4: A combination of 2 and 3 – Abilities should have their own 3-second cooldown and adjustments in costs.
The basic code for these tests has already been deployed to the test servers and is set to be released with Patch Update 27 on August 24. The tests are expected to last for a week and will be announced in-game. They are also directed only at the PC version of the MMORPG.
In the new dungeons from Stonethorn, you will face many dangers.
Less dynamism strengthens performance – but at what cost?
How do players respond to the solutions? Many comments have already gathered under Rich Lambert’s statement. However, most of them are rather negative. They fear that many mechanics and the dynamism of the game will be lost in favor of performance:
MasterPleb: “This would probably look good in the data, but I pray this isn’t permanently adopted, as it would destroy the game for anyone who plays small group PvP.”
NirnStorm: “This test is basically: ‘Let’s see, if we make the dynamic combat system less dynamic, it will improve performance.’ Of course it will. But at what cost?”
Alienoutlaw: “A 3-second cooldown for AoE abilities will destroy the game for many PvP fans. 3 seconds in PvP is an eternity […]. Increased costs have no effect in large groups, as they use many buffs to never run out of resources, and would primarily hurt solo players …”
Especially with the Templar, many readers see problems as “their job basically consists of spamming AoE”. This class could suffer under the changes.
According to Rich Lambert, however, an adjustment to the AoE abilities must be made because these performance problems exist, despite many other bugs having already been fixed:
Over the years, we have found and fixed many performance issues in Cyrodiil, and we continue to do so. We have resolved significant problems, uncovered new ones, and find more with each update.
But a fundamental problem remains. At some point, we crossed a threshold where most players in PvP were able to cast unlimited AoE abilities without ever running out of resources […]. That was not what we intended…
Are there also positive voices? Yes, some players agree that performance adjustments in the areas are more important than cooldowns or higher costs for AoE abilities. They look forward to the tests and also appreciate that Zenimax is not simply implementing one of the options but is openly discussing the reasons and the tests:
Rahar: “Everyone knows that organized ‘ball grouping’ with AoE spam is a problem. If no change is made, players are angry. If potential changes are brought up, players are angry. But honestly, although I view number 3 (with reservations) as the best solution, why was it not possible to revise the skills themselves?”
Gatekeeper13: “The best news I have heard for this game in a long time. If these changes are actually implemented, not only will performance improve, but we will also see the end of the atrocious ‘ball grouping’.”
Additionally, there are players who may not agree with Lambert’s solutions but are posting their own constructive suggestions to improve performance, including:
A buff for single-target abilities to provide more incentives for their use.
Adjustments to visual effects or the number of targets hit by AoE abilities.
Adjustments to some classes instead of “all AoE abilities”.
A stricter cap on players on the maps.
Dedicated servers just for Cyrodiil.
Auto-Invite, a mod to find players for Cyrodiil faster.
If not only the performance but also the interface or some basic functions of ESO are bothering you, we at MeinMMO have compiled 18 mods for PC that may help you.

In FIFA 20, the new event “Pre-Season” is coming up. So far, little is known about the event – fans are already speculating what the Pre-Season could bring.
What we know about Pre-Season: What is really certain is the start time. The new event “Pre-Season” starts on Wednesday evening, July 29, at 7 PM. This is known from various loading screens.
These screens are also what FIFA players are puzzling over. Various special cards have been shown. First, there were RTTF cards, then it continued with TOTY and TOTS cards.

In past events, EA has often hidden hints about what cards players can expect. The latest loading screen shows new coordinates – pointing to the Allianz Arena (Bayern Stadium) and Stamford Bridge (Chelsea Stadium). The transfer logo is also visible.
Fans speculate (via reddit) that this points to cards like Sané (went to Bayern) and Werner or Ziyech (both to Chelsea), who recently transferred clubs. However, some fans hope for more than just improved cards.
“Pre-Season” with rewards for FIFA 21?
What fans hope for: A “Pre-Season” typically describes the preparation period for a new season. Here, EA is likely hinting at the upcoming FIFA 21. The event title leads to theories.
Theories have emerged in the FIFA subreddit and also on YouTube that the Pre-Season could bring rewards for FIFA 21. For instance, YouTuber Zweback HD suggested that the color scheme from the loading screen could indicate Ones-to-Watch cards that one could get for FIFA 21.

His idea: Through SBCs, one could unlock cards like a Chelsea version of Werner in FIFA 20. This, in turn, could be used for challenges that unlock rewards for FIFA 21 – such as an OTW-Werner card.
Such considerations also exist on reddit. For instance, one user stated: “The design looks almost identical to FIFA 21, so I expect something like ‘Now and Later’ packs or summer transfer special cards” (via reddit).
Is this likely? While some fans support the idea of rewards for FIFA 21, there is also criticism. After all, the early phase of Ultimate Team is shaped by the build “from scratch” and would be significantly altered.
Moreover, it seems unlikely that players should be able to earn things like OTW cards for FIFA 21 already. Such a card, for instance, belongs to the offering of the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 21, and is therefore effectively sold.
The final answer will be given on Wednesday evening at 7 PM. A FUT event that allows players to earn cards for the next FIFA installment has not occurred in this form and would be quite surprising.
Update 8:15 PM – The playlist update is now live and brings the changes promised in the blog post as well as two additional unannounced modes for multiplayer. The playlist now looks as follows:
With their “Weekly Briefing”, as part of the CoD blog on an Activision website, the developers provide advance information on which modes or features you can expect this week in CoD. And the list looks good. The popular 24/7 modes “Shoot House” & “Shipment” return individually to the playlist, and Warzoners will be able to rock a hardcore mode that has only been available for a few days: Juggernaut Royale. Additionally, there will be double XP on the weekend.
It burns, it bangs, it crashes – Shipment is back!
CoD – Playlist update July 28 with Shipment 24/7 & Shoot House 24/7
When do the new modes start? Since 8:15 PM on Tuesday evening, July 28th, the new modes have been live. You can log in now and start playing immediately.
Only Juggernaut Royale is not playable yet. In the last 2 weeks, the “special modes” have always only come on the weekend with a separate playlist update on Thursday or Friday evening. This is likely to be the case this time as well.
When does the double XP event start? According to the blog post, it starts on Thursday evening around 7 PM our time. It is likely that the Jugger mode will start in Warzone at that time as well. There are double points for:
The account level
The weapon levels
The battle pass levels
This will run until Monday, August 3rd, again at 7 PM. If you are still missing points for the battle pass, you will have a good opportunity to catch up on a few levels.
What can the MW modes do this week? The fan favorites “Shipment 24/7” & “Shoot House 24/7” send you into a chaotic battle on the rather small maps until your fingers or eyes hurt. Here, 24/7 only means one map in changing modes. A fun experience for everyone who enjoys a lot of action in CoD.
“Deathmatch Domination” is an exciting mix of “Domination” and a “Team Deathmatch”. In “Domination” you usually score points only by holding flags. In “Domination-Deathmatch” you also score points for your team account by getting kills. Just like with coffee, the mix can enhance the experience, though it may not suit everyone’s taste.
“Drop Zone” is more akin to a “Hardpoint” match. There are changing areas that the teams must hold for points. However, as a twist, you do not have the usual “killstreaks”. The pesky gadgets are only available when your team holds the “Drop Zone”. Then, every now and then, a “supply crate” will fly in, providing one of the carefully packaged team advantages.
What can the Warzone mode do? In “Juggernaut Royale Quads”, you and your squad of four enter the Warzone and fight, as usual, for the title of the last survivors. But on the map, there are a few crates with nasty Juggernaut suits available. As a “Human Tank”, you are heavily armored and can withstand a lot of fire, plus you have a minigun, and your helmet plays a radio that makes your reduced movement speed hardly matter.
Juggernauts terrorize the Warzone again – but likely only on the weekend.
What happened last week in CoD? The past week was all about the new Season 5. The CoD makers sent mysterious video snippets to major content creators, and the community has been guessing their meaning since then. Based on the videos, we presented three possible map changes for Warzone on MeinMMO.
In addition, a former hacker addressed the players and developers on reddit, giving tips on dealing with hackers. Cheaters are becoming an increasingly significant problem in CoD, and despite a announced ban wave from developer Infinity Ward, players remain skeptical.
Next week, the new season is likely starting soon and will bring a new battle pass and content for the current CoD titles. In the meantime, check out how many CDs the massive CoD would have needed back in the day. With counting, you’ll be ready just in time for the season start next week.

The Community Day in August has found its star Pokémon: Magikarp will determine the next event in Pokémon GO.
When does the Community Day take place? The Community Day featuring Magikarp will take place on August 08. This coincides with the Enigma Week, which starts the day before and brings powerful monsters.
Magikarp itself isn’t exactly the overpowered Pokémon, but is still popular. And its evolution, Gyarados, has been a fan favorite for years.
These bonuses are available during the Community Day with Magikarp
What’s in store for the Community Day in August: First and foremost, a lot of Magikarp will spawn. This is important because you’ll finally get candies for Gyarados if you don’t have one yet. The small splashing fish requires 400 candies to become the dangerous water-dragon. Additionally, you should have a good chance at shiny Magikarp and Gyarados.
There are also two bonuses that you can use during the Community Day.
The incense item lasts a full 3 hours. If you stack two, you’ll have a total of six hours of boosted spawns.
You receive triple stardust for catching Pokémon. If you use a star piece, the amount of stardust will be further increased.
This is the special move: If you evolve Magikarp into Gyarados during the event period, it can learn the move Aqua Tail. By the way, Gyarados is one of the Pokémon that can Mega Evolve – an exciting detail, as this feature is expected to come to Pokémon GO soon.
Especially for players who do not own a Gyarados yet, the Community Day with Magikarp is likely to be interesting. And that Magikarp aren’t completely useless was demonstrated by a trainer in battle against Giovanni, even though they were primarily used as cannon fodder here.

In Red Dead Online, the new update “The Naturalist” is available. This prominently brings nature to the forefront – and how you handle it.
This is the new update: In the already announced free update “The Naturalist”, which is available now, everything revolves around the diverse wildlife of Red Dead Online. One of the biggest points is the new legendary animals that you can track in the wild. But how you ultimately deal with them – that’s where “The Naturalist” becomes really interesting.
Conservationist or Big Game Hunter – choose your side
This is the dilemma: You are, of course, not the only ones dealing with the wonders of the animal kingdom in the new update. At the welcome center in Strawberry, you will meet Harriet Davenport and Gus Macmillan.
Harriet is a conservationist who wants to deepen her knowledge about wildlife. For her, you should carefully tranquilize the animals and collect samples. She is the option for animal-loving players.
Gus, on the other hand, is a retired big game hunter who now sends you hunting. For him, you should kill the animals – and he offers you stylish clothing made from the materials you collect.
It will probably not be possible to please both: Gus has no regard for conservation, while Harriet will notice if you decimate her beloved wildlife for stylish clothing.
In the update, you can become a researcher – or a poacher
What brings which advantages? With Gus, high-quality clothing and animal amulets lure you, which provide different bonuses.
With Harriet, you get new tranquilizer ammunition for the varmint rifle to tranquilize the animals. In addition, you can use animal revivers so that no predators prey on helpless animals.
You keep track of your results in the animal field guide. Here, all data about the animals you find are documented and researched. The more you fill your compendium, the further you progress in the role and unlock rewards. These include:
A new horse breed for naturalists
Clothing
New recipes and tonics – for example, for weight loss or gain
The new ability “Final Blow”
Additionally, you can set up a new wilderness camp and stop poachers who keep animals captive.
What’s still in the update? In the update, you will find more content such as an improved camera and new weapons. There are also new free roam events centered around the new animals. You can find more content in the official patch notes (via Rockstar).
The new major update is certainly an important step for Red Dead Online. For a long time, the game has been stingy with new content; the last major update was “Moonshiners” in December 2019. The long wait has drawn criticism from many players.

Gabe Newell leads one of the world’s most well-known software companies, Valve. He is a prominent figure in the gaming industry and has now explained in a talk show which of the next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X he prefers.
Who is speaking? Gabe Newell is the head of Valve, the company behind the gaming platform Steam. Newell is also listed among the 400 richest Americans in the world according to Forbes. He is currently stuck in New Zealand due to the Corona crisis.
What he says: When asked in a talk show whether the Xbox Series X or the PS5 is better, he chooses the Xbox Series X without hesitation. When asked by the moderators why, he replies:
Because that’s the way it is. I’m not interested in this race [Xbox vs PS5]. Of course, we develop most of our products on PC, but between the two, I would definitely use an Xbox.
What Newell also discussed: When asked what the next important step in VR (Virtual Reality) would be, Newell explained that the next step would be “Brain Computer Interfaces”, meaning interfaces directly with the brain:
“Instead of going through eyes and senses [like with VR headsets], we are able to produce these things directly in your brain.”
Xbox Series X and PS5 are expected to be highly powerful
And the next console generation has significantly more power than the current generation with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As Xbox chief Phil Spencer told MeinMMO in an interview, the Xbox Series X would become the most powerful next-gen console. The design is therefore only functional and would look like a tower PC.
Here you can find moreinformation about the Xbox Series X: Want more information about Microsoft’s new console? We have the most important news about the Xbox Series X summarized for you and keep you updated.

Valorant is revising the ranked system with the upcoming “Act 2”, making many aspects clearer and introducing new features. Some of the changes are the new ranks and badges that document how well you play and display that in your profile.
What is changing in Ranked? The basic idea behind the revision of the ranked system is that everything will be a bit clearer. For example, Valorant wants to move away from the system that only shows how good you are based on the matchmaking rating (MMR). However, this can vary greatly depending on the day’s performance and has caused significant issues for stronger players.
Instead, only your best performances will be shown. How you finish the current act and start the next one will depend on those performances. The performance will then be immortalized on your profile at the end of an act.
A preview of the badge that you will soon be able to show off.
There will also be a new rank system and badges that document your best performances. The rank updates continuously during an act, and you will receive the badge at the end of an act. Other changes to the system include:
shortened placement matches – you only need to play three matches instead of five to be ranked
individual performance in the first matches counts much more, allowing you to climb to the rank that suits you faster
placement matches do not count towards earning the act rank
The performances from Act 1 will be carried over to the upcoming Act 2. However, there won’t be a badge for that yet. Riot believes you should first know what to expect, which is why that feature will only come at the end of Act 2.
What are Rank and Badge? Rank and Badge are the two major new features for Act 2. The rank updates while you play Ranked. The rank is divided into triangles, which represent different victories.
The new act rank in Valorant.
The act rank is somewhat like a record of your best victories in Valorant. It builds up as follows:
each triangle represents a victory in ranked
your rank when entering the match determines how this victory is counted. So if you move up from Bronze to Silver due to a win, it still counts as a Bronze victory
wins at higher ranks replace older wins at lower ranks
the frame changes when you achieve a different number of wins, specifically at 9, 25, 50, 75, and 100 wins
At the end of the act, you will receive a badge based on your act rank. The badge displays the nine best victories from that act. So if you want to receive the Diamond badge, you must have earned at least nine victories at the Diamond rank.
Your matchmaking rank determines how your act rank and later your badge looks.
You will then find your badges along with a history of your previous rank on your profile. This allows you to show your friends how well you have played over the past months.
How does it work? Act ranks do not replace the matchmaking rank, which still corresponds to the current rating. The ranks only accumulate your best achievements and form your badge at the end of the act.
Stronger achievements overwrite weaker ones. For example, if you have already filled the rank with wins in Bronze and Silver, and then achieve wins in Gold, those Gold wins will replace the older displays.
You can learn more about the ranked mode of Valorant in our guide:
Recently, the ranked system in Valorant has repeatedly caused problems. Players find it somewhat opaque and even a bit random. However, Riot is working on this, as noted in a final note.
The goal is to improve the “transparency and clarity of the changes”. Recently, Riot had problems with the fact that there is no one taking care of the ranked system – the original person responsible is no longer there. How Act 2 and Ranked will perform in the future remains to be seen.

In summer 2016, Pokémon GO was released and immediately caused a huge hype. Our editor Alexander Leitsch couldn’t escape it either. However, after a short time, his interest waned. Due to his work at MeinMMO, he returned to Pokémon GO and has particularly enjoyed it in recent months.
My past with Pokémon GO: I’ve actually been accompanied by Pokémon since my childhood. I played the Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, and Gold editions multiple times and even collected almost all 151 or 251 Pokémon from that time – only Mew is still missing from my collection. The Game Boy Colour and I were good friends; I still have the trading cards from back then.
But with age and new handhelds, our paths parted for many years, until Pokémon GO was released as an app for smartphones in 2016. I couldn’t resist the hype and, like almost all the younger people I know, went hunting for the cute monsters.
My highlight came in August when I made the beach of Kijkduin unsafe with hundreds of Dutch people. There was free Wi-Fi everywhere, several PokéStops next to each other, plenty of seating, and modules running continuously. I can still hear the outcry proclaiming a Gyarados was found right at the water today. Everyone, without exception, suddenly stormed down.
At that time, I also spoke with many gamers in a funny mix of German, Dutch, and English. For those who want a glimpse into those experiences, you can find them captured in a video on YouTube:

What happened next? With the autumn/winter season, my interest in the game faded. There were missing features and tasks, and at home, then still in Neuss, the community was much smaller and less interesting than in Holland. At the beginning of 2017, I got a new smartphone, and Pokémon GO had no place on it.
This changed again only at the end of 2019, with my permanent position at MeinMMO. Through our author Noah Struthoff and the many articles I was able to read and correct, my interest in the game grew.
And now, in the summer of 2020, I am experiencing something like a second spring with the game.
Collecting Fever and the GO Fest as a Highlight
What fascinates me about Pokémon GO right now? Actually, I am an MMORPG fan when it comes to video games. I like:
the vast game worlds
the seemingly endless number of tasks
collecting equipment, pets, or mounts
the sociability with other players
Much of this can surprisingly be transferred to Pokémon GO, especially the vast worlds (in this case, the RL) and the collecting of monsters. Once you get caught in the whirlpool, you just want to catch all Pokémon. It was already like that in my childhood.
About the author: Alexander Leitsch is responsible for MMORPGs at MeinMMO. He has already spent over 7,700 hours in Guild Wars 2, but also regularly plays the predecessor GW1, Black Desert, SWTOR, WoW Classic, or ArcheAge.
Pokémon GO, on the other hand, is currently a welcome change for him.
What I underestimated for a long time, however, was the sociability. I only discovered that in December by making my first friendships via the app, exchanging gifts and Pokémon, and even finding friends in real life with whom I can go out hunting.
I still benefit a bit from the Corona adjustments, which have accompanied me for more than half of my entire playtime, including:
Longer incense
Eggs hatch twice as fast
More Pokémon
A greater range at PokéStops and arenas
These led to me being able to catch many Pokémon and to spin a stop from my apartment without leaving the house.
But the real highlight that increased my love for the game was when I experienced the GO Fest 2020.
Why was the GO Fest so wonderful for me? At the GO Fest, I again experienced that feeling I had in 2016 in Holland. I met a group of players in the city center, at a place with many PokéStops and an arena, who were sitting together, battling Team GO Rocket, exchanging and laughing.
And I joined them.
Although there was a slight distance and some discomfort due to Corona, we had fun together and even went for ice cream. Just like that. With complete strangers.
During the afternoon, the group dispersed, but you kept encountering people with smartphones in their hands, of whom you just knew were also on the hunt for Pokémon.
You nodded to each other, smiled, and even had conversations with a few. For me, it was essentially something like a real MMO, only I wasn’t wearing any cool armor. That, however, did not apply to the people I met.
Some individuals even used the event for cosplays and looked like Ash or Misty. I even came across a Pikachu.
Ash and Pikachu somehow really belong to the Pokémon franchise.
Another highlight for me was the rewards. I found plenty of new entries in the PokéDex, finally encountered the legendary flying Pokémon Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, and also found 12 Shinies.
While I completely understand our editor Noah Struthoff when he says that he wasn’t so enthusiastic about the GO Fest, for me it was the best experience I’ve had with the series so far.
I was not the only editor at MeinMMO who got caught up in the Pokémon GO fever of the editorial team. Philipp Hansen, who is primarily responsible for Destiny 2 at our place, also reinstalled the app.
However, he faced some obstacles, as he shares in an experience report:
This is what my return looked like: Early Saturday morning, Pokémon mania broke out in the MeinMMO editorial team – the GO Fest was to blame. Somehow all of that spilled over to me. Just like our editor Alexander Leitsch, my phone was Pokémon-free for years. That was supposed to change, but my old profile just wouldn’t reactivate.
I spent almost an hour trying to lure my old self onto my new smartphone. Ultimately, I had to create a new account and log out of it to finally have the option to log in correctly via Google Play (of course, I also had to have a new password sent to me).
When I finally got started, it felt like rummaging through long-locked attics for memories. “Ahh, this Vaporeon named Rainer rings a bell!” A warm feeling of familiarity spread.
What surprised me about PoGO: Not only was my account from 2016, but my knowledge about PoGO also came from the past. Barely started, I was overwhelmed: The friendly professor bombarded me with quests and information.
Field research, raids, a buddy that I should feed with berries, and Team Rocket grunts wanted to fight – all new and somehow overwhelming for me.
I was like the Psyduck in the series.
But after the first breathless excitement and, as a good editor should, I did some research, I had a lot of fun. Because now I had clear goals in mind.
The highlights of my first weekend were:
A Rocket balloon was patrolling over my house – they should have thought twice about invading my airspace.
I got my first Shiny – a golden Magikarp that will soon become an angry Gyarados.
I soloed a raid – The enemy was a Meditite, a little guy who still wears diapers and was far too weak.
Now I am the proud owner of a flying robot crab: Metagross – which is now my buddy and already has 15 kilometers under its belt.
I had a lot of fun at this PoGo weekend, only my sore calves have complained since then.
On the right is my new buddy: Metagross.
Is starting or returning to Pokémon GO worth it?
With Pokémon GO, a love of mine and Philipp’s childhood (Pokémon) has paired with a love of mine in the present (MMORPGs) and at least gave me a wonderful moment that I will probably often remember.
With now 5 generations, numerous Shinies, quests in the form of field research, PvP leagues, and raids, Pokémon GO currently offers plenty of content that is truly worthwhile for newcomers and returnees.
In my opinion, the game is most enjoyable when you have a few friends around to go hunting together. Of course, you should also have a good connection to Pokémon and the collecting aspect.
In recent weeks, players made a crazy amount of money with the apartment glitch in GTA Online. Now it seems this is finally out of the game.
What happened to the glitch? Suddenly, dataminers announced that Rockstar Games fixed the apartment glitch in GTA Online on Monday, July 27. At first, people were unsure if this was true. But shortly after, several players confirmed that the glitch no longer works.
And this is particularly frustrating for some users of GTA Online, as the glitch worked so strongly in recent weeks that it flooded players’ accounts with millions of GTA dollars. Those who took full advantage became multimillionaires in a matter of minutes, and with extensive use, even earned billions. Buying the fastest cars of 2020 in GTA Online became a piece of cake.
However, in a way that Rockstar Games doesn’t like – glitching goes against the rules of the game.
What made the apartment glitch so special?
That’s why the attention: You might be wondering “Rockstar certainly fixes many glitches in GTA Online, why is this one so important?”
This is because the developers have been trying repeatedly over the past weeks to get rid of the glitch. But they never really succeeded. Players found a workaround that made the glitch functional again within hours after Rockstar’s fix.
While some players are still eagerly waiting to see if the “glitchers” find a new workaround and get the apartment glitch “running” again, others have already thrown in the towel and waved goodbye to this method. They don’t believe that a new workaround will come.
How did the glitch work? Basically, it was an interplay between the first and second character in online mode. You would buy expensive and cheap apartments, deactivate your internet during a specific loading process, and then sell the cheap apartments for a high price. Within minutes, you had millions in your online account through this glitch. Of course, this is not allowed.
In Fortnite: Battle Royale there is now a new cool emote from TikTok available for free to every player. However, anyone who wants to get the emote should hurry before it is no longer available.
The winner of this competition is Michael (TikTok: michaelmejeh). His dance is now available as an emote in Fortnite. This is what the dance looks like in the game:

How do you get the emote? Unlike emotes that you have to buy in the item shop or complete special challenges for, this dance is available easily and for free.
To obtain the emote, you just need to log into Fortnite by Thursday, July 30 at 2:00 AM and a notification will appear that you have received the emote as a gift. You also do not need to participate in an event for this.
So make sure to check it out if you want to have the emote before it might no longer be available in Fortnite.
What was the original plan for the emote? Originally, players were not supposed to receive this emote just by logging in. Epic had planned to give the dance only to the players who participate in the “We the People” event.
What kind of event is this? The “We the People x More Than A Vote” is a talk series where various personalities from sports and entertainment discuss the topic of “voter suppression” and encourage others to take action.
The entire event will be broadcasted in Party Royale mode on the big screen. The talk starts on July 29 at 1:00 AM and will be shown again every 2 hours over a span of 22 hours.
Important: During the “event”, Epic wants everyone to behave respectfully and will therefore disable all emotes during this time.
League of Legends is particularly popular and successful in Korea. Icons like Faker are known to players worldwide. Now, they are looking for a new superstar and have launched the casting show “LoL The Next” for this purpose.
What kind of show is this? Riot Games is hosting a kind of casting show in Korea. In “LoL The Next”, the next superstar is to be found, who might become as famous as Faker, whom Riot has even portrayed as a god.
It doesn’t matter whether this person is a player or a shoutcaster.
The show takes place as part of the 10th Anniversary of LoL and starts on August 2. From then on, it is scheduled to be broadcast every Sunday at 3:30 PM.

100 participants compete for a spot in the finals and receive mentors
How exactly does the show work? In the first round, 100 participants are selected to take part in the show. They will be assigned 4 mentors:
Lee “Wolf” Jae-wan (featured image), who has played for SK Telecom T1 almost continuously from 2013 to the present.
Heo “PawN” Won-seok, former player of KT Rolster and Kingzone Dragon X.
Jang “MaRin” Gyeong-hwan, who was a member of SK Telecom T1 from 2013 to 2015 and “retired” in 2019. Since then, he has been working as a coach and streamer.
Kim “PraY” Jong-in, who played for Kingzone DragonX and most recently for KT Rolster in 2019.
The 100 participants will be eliminated show by show until only 5 talents remain who will then proceed to the finals.
Riot Games Korea already revealed that while they are following the classic elimination principle found in television shows, everything will be a bit “more interesting” and “relaxed” (via MMOCulture).
You can watch the show on the YouTube channel of League of Legends Korea, but only in Korean.
Amazing, a German LoL player who was successful as a professional and is now working as a coach.
There is a bonus for trainers that makes the event even more interesting. This Tuesday is all about the Water-type Pokémon Bamelin.
Spotlight Hour in July with Bamelin
When does the event take place? As always, it starts at 6:00 PM local time. The event is active for about an hour and ends around 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are there? You will encounter Bamelin significantly more often in the wild.
As a bonus, you’ll get double XP for catching Pokémon. So save some Poké Balls and catch many specimens to make the most of this bonus.
Bamelin and its evolution Bojelin
Is there a Shiny Bamelin? No. Shiny Bamelin is not available in the wild in Pokémon GO, and therefore it will not be found as Shiny tonight in Pokémon GO.
Who is this event for? For shiny hunters, the Spotlight Hour tonight is not a must-attend event. Since the shiny form is not available, one should focus on other things.
The XP bonus is interesting for many players who still need a few experience points to level up. Combined with a Lucky Egg, you will even receive four times the amount of XP per Pokémon catch during the event.
Before the big CDL Championships at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, numerous pros warn of a minimap exploit and urge the developers to fix it before the start of the World Championship.
What is the World Championship about? In August, the CDL Champs start at Call of Duty. This is the playoffs of the professional “Call of Duty League” (CDL). It is expected to be the largest event in the history of the “Call of Duty” series.
The event is essentially a world championship, where the best professional players of the Modern Warfare season of Call of Duty will be determined. A total prize pool of $4.6 million is at stake.
Normally, this event is held in a LAN format, but due to restrictions caused by the Corona virus, it will be held online for the first time in 2020.
A CDL event
What does the exploit have to do with it? Currently, the excitement for the tournament is overshadowed for many pros by an exploit that has recently been at the center of the community’s attention – the so-called “start glitch”, which actually has its roots in CoD: Modern Warfare 2.
This exploit apparently also affects the multiplayer of the current Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and creates tense atmosphere and mutual distrust among the pros before the start of the online World Championship.
Numerous prominent CoD players warn of the potential consequences of the glitch on the upcoming tournament and urge the developers to resolve the issue before the event starts.
FormaL from the Chicago Huntsmen also demands a quick fix for the start glitch (source: Activision)
What exactly does the exploit do? During the kill cam, the start glitch gives players a brief opportunity to see the positions of enemy players on the minimap, thus providing themselves with a tactical advantage.
What are the pros saying about it now? After the exploit has led to mutual distrust and has been widely discussed in recent days, numerous professionals from various CDL teams are demanding that the developers at Infinity Ward fix this exploit before the World Championship starts. After all, it’s about 4.6 million dollars.

Moreover, there are also concerns regarding the integrity of the league, as even if one ignores this exploit – one does not know if the other team is not exploiting it. Pros who take advantage of it should be ashamed.

What about a fix? It remains to be seen how the developers will respond to the ever-growing criticism ahead of the World Championship on August 20. An official statement has yet to be made.
Although there is still enough time for a hotfix, especially with the major update for the new Season 5, things could still change. However, currently, the glitch is not on the list of issues that the developers are looking at. And some pros are less optimistic and point out how long it took Infinity Ward to nerf the MP5 properly.

The release of ARK Genesis Part 2 has been delayed by a few months. In the blog, the developers from Studio Wildcard explain what is behind the delay.
What is it about? In February 2020, the expansion “Genesis” for ARK: Survival Evolved was released. Originally, the first part of the expansion was supposed to be released in December 2019, but it was postponed to February. A similar fate now befalls the second part.
Home office leads to a later release of Genesis Part 2
When is the new release? In a blog post on Survivetheark.com, the team addresses the players. They explain that Part 2 of Genesis will now be released in March 2021. And then on all platforms simultaneously.
What’s behind it? In a letter to the players, the studio explains that they switched to “remote work” around the beginning of the year. So they are no longer working together in an office, but from home.
While they have made significant progress in the development of Genesis Part 2 since then, they also faced some challenges while working remotely.
After taking a closer look, they now have a better understanding of the schedule for Genesis Part 2 and therefore postponed the release to March 2021. They write:
We understand that you are eager to dive in and this news is disappointing; however, we are passionate about delivering something truly special, memorable, and accordingly epic.
This additional time allows us to provide a better and unique experience and is well worth the investment.
This special year is causing some game releases to struggle:
What is planned: To sweeten the wait for Part 2, you can dive into other content that will still be released for ARK: Survival Evolved in the coming months.
The “The Crystal Isles” DLC will be available for free on consoles. The release is planned for the last week of August
The “Tender Love and Care Pass 3” patch is expected to bring some quality-of-life changes and tweak the core gameplay. TLC 3 Pass is planned for October 2020
