The Xbox Series S is the weakest next-gen console. It offers less power than the Series X and less memory, but it only costs around 200 euros.
On reddit, a user recently showed a picture of his Xbox Series S. He was playing Borderlands and the game crashed with the message that the video memory was full. This has reignited the discussion about whether 8 GB of video memory is simply too little by now.
Are 8 GB of video memory still enough in 2023?
In general, the rule is: The higher the resolution, the higher the load on the video memory. This is where the textures are cached. If the video memory is insufficient, it usually leads to annoying stuttering. In the worst case, the game simply crashes.
But are 8 GB of video memory still enough in 2023? The tech colleagues from GameStar checked with several games, how much video memory games actually need in 2023. They reached the following conclusions:
8 GB should definitely be enough for Full HD, and at least 10 GB for WQHD.
6 GB VRAM or less is simply not future-proof anymore. Anyone who wants to play in WQHD should steer clear of graphics cards with 8 GB.
The problem, however, is that each game uses varying amounts of memory. Games like Anno 1800 or Age of Empires IV require little memory, while other games like Call of Duty: MW2 can easily use 12 GB. Games like Diablo 4 cause a ‘Memory Leak’, filling the graphics card’s memory to the maximum without compromise and leading to crashes.
In the future, these 8 GB could become tight. Many players are already indicating this as they watch the next graphics cards with concern.
What about the Xbox Series S? The Series S is also a special case. Although the Series S offers 10 GB of GGDR6 memory, it is “shared”: The console does not have a proper graphics card but relies on a processor with an integrated graphics chip. As a result, the processor and graphics chip share the memory among themselves. This tends to wrap up much faster than with a graphics card that has a full memory complement.
8 GB of video memory already causes discussions with RTX 4060 and RX 7600
Which graphics cards are coming next? With the RTX 4060 and the RX 7600, two new graphics cards are already presumably on the starting blocks. But even before the release, discussions are taking place about the specifications (via videocardz.com). And the speculated 8 GB of video memory is not making many users happy.
Many players also state that they would be willing to pay more for a graphics card if the memory size would ultimately be right.

What are the developer’s plans for the future? Surprised by the success, developer WEMADE has now changed its corporate strategy. In the most recent conference call, the revenue for the first quarter was discussed. It was explained that the game generates around €1.4 million a day through the South Korean app store and Google Play Store.

Teredor is a new indie MMORPG that is not only being developed in Germany but is initially also set to be released only here. The developers have already made headlines with their unique monetization model and have announced the launch of the first alpha.

What defines Diablo is that he is the “supreme evil” or wants to be, the worst of the demon lords who all stand for some kind of sin or negative emotion. Diablo is the lord of terror and is considered one of the hardest bosses in the game.

Will we see Diablo in Diablo 4? Strictly speaking, Diablo is already in the game, at least partly (and literally). Lilith is holding the skull of the supreme evil in her hands, presumably using it as a magical artifact.

Update 11.05.2023: The Bungie team has now released another statement regarding the two-second change and announced a decrease in the “swap time” for the start of Season 21.
They stated via Twitter: “We would like to provide some additional context regarding the weapon swap delay. The shotgun exploit was not the only issue we observed. To reliably address the underlying problem, we had to introduce a global shot delay when swapping weapons through the inventory screen. Due to the network differences between players and environments, we cannot guarantee that the exploit will be fixed with the shortest possible delay.
After carefully observing the current behavior in live play, we have enough information to fine-tune this further and plan to reduce the weapon swap delay shortly after the start of Season 21 this month to about one second.”
This way, the developer is following the demands of the top players, who had already noted that the time window should be reduced to at least 1 second.
What has upset players in Destiny 2? The latest Update 7.0.5.3 of Destiny 2 went live last night. The patch fixed various bugs that blocked progress in the Guardian Games or the issue with the Catalyst of the Guardian Games Exotic “Legitimate Heir”.
After the update, the loot shooter struggled with error codes late into the night and even had to be taken offline again with an emergency maintenance. Yet all this became secondary when the Guardians studied the patch notes and discovered the following change:
“There is now a two-second window in which a weapon cannot be fired after it has been swapped from the inventory screen.”
With this, Bungie not only ended a known weapon exploit but also upset some streamers and speedrunners.

Why did Bungie implement this rule? The reason for the adjustment is, among other issues, a recently discovered weapon exploit with the shotgun “The Fourth Horseman”.
If one kept switching back and forth between a regular slug shotgun and the exotic shotgun, it led to absurd damage to enemies.
Actually, a change to the weapon fire delay for the shotgun archetype would have sufficed. However, Bungie applied it to all weapons. Probably because other intrinsic weapon swaps might inadvertently increase damage in the future.
With this solution, the developer ensures that the bug cannot happen again with other weapons.
How the Community Responds to the Change
Many casual players found the change not really dramatic. Also, because it helps make the game fairer.
However, Guardians trying to master dungeons or raids alone now have drastic disadvantages. For them, a large part of the damage relies on fast weapon swaps and an efficient weapon arsenal.

In the Destiny subreddit, there are players who agree with him, like AegisTheOnly, who also see a problem in regular raids.
The final bosses of several raid bosses in competitive mode sometimes require switching to a primary or sniper weapon with high damage as soon as the heavy ammo runs out. Imagine having to wait 2 seconds to shoot while Rhulk pummels you with penetrating shots.

Overall, this change certainly affects only a small portion of Destiny 2 players, but those impacted certainly feel directly restricted. However, with Bungie now changing the delay in Season 21 to 1 second, many have shown to be more reconciliatory.

What kind of game is this? Black Desert Online is one of the most beautiful MMORPGs from the Far East. It is an open-world title characterized by sieges and conquest wars, but also features a sophisticated life skill system. However, there is a comparatively high amount of grinding, an almost open PvP system, and a shop with a Pay2Progress label.

Undead Stygian Dolls (Diablo 2)
What looks like the skeleton of the rather harmless little fetishes is one of the worst enemies in Diablo 2. It can be seen that the PS5 version has a more detailed gate with a steel grate. Additionally, the path to the outside is clearly visible, as an open hanging bridge without a roof was installed.
However, the PS4 version offers hardly any details at the arched gate. Furthermore, the steel grate has been omitted. The apparently interesting thing here is the hanging bridge, as it has been completely removed and replaced with a closed corridor with a roof.
How do players react to the discovery? Fans on Reddit are surprised, as they had to compare the images for a few minutes to realize that these are indeed the same locations. Onemortal writes: “It took a minute to realize that it is the same location.”
Others, however, wanted to admonish the post creator to please use the correct location for comparison until they realized that this is indeed the same location. nolimits59 writes: “Honestly, I thought: ‘Dude, at least take photos from the same place.’ I thought that the first two and the last two were a PS4/PS5 comparison.”
And even though the different versions cause confusion, this design decision has a valid reason.
Why is there such a significant difference? Those who have played Hogwarts Legacy may know how performance-intensive the game can be. While powerful gaming PCs and the next-gen consoles can handle it well, the Xbox One and PS4 are different.
They have outdated hardware and therefore can process Hogwarts Legacy more slowly and with greater difficulty.
However, since the game takes place in an open world and many things must be processed in the data, the developers likely decided to connect certain areas to reduce loading times and processing load. The result is locations that look different but are located in the same place.

Is Ignivor worth it? Ignivor itself does not play a significant role in battles, but its evolution Ramoth is a different story. While it doesn’t fare well in PvP, it excels as a strong Bug attacker in raids and gyms. Additionally, it can also shine as a Fire attacker.

As already mentioned, it is currently extremely difficult to get Ignivor, let alone Ramoth. You need a lot of luck for it to hatch from an egg, and then the candy collecting begins. Therefore, one should not expect to get a Ramoth anytime soon.
