Nintendo has closed the doors to the eShop in Russia. In an email to all publishers, the company announced that sales ended on May 31, 2023. Therefore, it is no longer possible to purchase digital games or redeem download codes in Russia.
Why is the eShop being closed? Nintendo cites the “economic outlook” of its Russian subsidiary as the reason for the closure (via gamedeveloper.com).
Is the eShop completely closed? The eShop will remain partially operational. Players can still re-download their previous purchases. Nintendo aims to fulfill its “commitment to its customers in the Russian market.” Thus, at least a limited service will be offered as of May 31.
As compensation, Russian players can look forward to a new gaming event initiated by President Putin:
Nintendo’s announcement is even an improvement for Russia: The Russian eShop has been under maintenance since early 2022. The reason was the cessation of transactions in Russian rubles by payment providers.
Thus, it was no longer even possible to download previously purchased games from the eShop. Now, players in Russia at least have a claim to their digital titles.
As a result of the partial closure, all payment information linked to Nintendo accounts will be deleted. Should the Russian eShop ever become fully operational again, affected players will need to re-enter their PayPal and credit card information.
Therefore, it is now no longer possible to purchase new titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom digitally in Russia. They must look for alternatives.

What is so special about the catch? As Reddit user Tickluh shows in his post, he encountered a Milza in the wild. The small dragon Pokémon from the 5th generation of games is one of the monsters that usually only show up rarely and are thus hard to catch.

In an interview, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy spoke about gambling streams and the problems he sees with the providers.
What is the deal with gambling on Twitch?
Gambling streams have long been considered a problem on Twitch. Streamers made deals with online casinos, earning a lot of money and could offset their losses – but that wasn’t the case for their viewers. There were accusations that the streamers were leading their viewers into addiction and bankruptcy.
Since October 18, 2022, stricter rules have been in place, and online casinos like Stake.com are banned in live streams.
What does the Twitch CEO say now about gambling streams? Dan Clancy is the CEO of Twitch. In an interview with the streamer filian, the 59-year-old talked about gambling on Twitch, the ban and the operating sites.

Clancy then explains his personal opinion on the matter, saying that it depends on whether these sites agree to be regulated and accept the consumer protection regulations of the countries.

What kind of quest is this? In the quest: “Unyielding Flesh”, you help a woman search for her missing husband. He has apparently disappeared in the nearby woods and she can no longer find him.
You receive the quest in Yelesna, probably the second village you find after leaving Kyovashad. The quest giver’s name is Krystyna.
The quest is quite short and only takes a few minutes if you complete it directly. Just a few steps away from the village and behind a few rather weak ghoul hordes, you will finally find her husband. Alive, more or less.
What makes the quest so special: We don’t want to spoil anything, but although Krystyna’s husband Feodor apparently isn’t doing too well, he is still alive and… happy. We won’t reveal his exact circumstances, but at least his fetish: BDSM.
This stands for “Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, and Masochism”, thus encompassing several rather brutal preferences. Feodor has definitely come very close to his ultimate pleasure. We recommend this quest (almost) to everyone playing through.
Because although Diablo 4 is rated 16, we wouldn’t suggest this scene to anyone under 18 – not even, or especially not, when playing with mom. But here’s a tip: play at least this quest in English, otherwise the pun at the end won’t make much sense.

Diablo 4 is full of exciting stories
MeinMMO was invited to test Diablo 4 before its release and was able to explore the game fully, including all main and side quests. The main story alone is worth it for the exciting encounters with old acquaintances and new enemies.
You need about 20-30 hours just for the plot if you watch all the cutscenes and listen to the stories. However, it is worth it to look at the sides and complete some side quests.
“Unyielding Flesh” is already one of the best quests in the game, but the best one I’ve encountered so far can be found in Act 5. There you are supposed to solve murders and encounter a girl who seemingly makes pacts with demons.
Many further quests follow that weave a story like some of the best quest lines in World of Warcraft, just not quite as extensive as in the MMORPG. For hack-and-slash standards, the storytelling in these side quests is exceptionally strong and reminiscent of the “good old days” of “old Blizzard”.
And especially Diablo 4 is likely to have many first-hour Blizzard fans who still remember how strong the company used to be:
Many people are looking forward to Diablo 4, Assassin’s Creed, and more. But the game that our author Mark Sellner is probably looking forward to the most this year is called Palworld (Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series). It thrives on the fact that you capture (Pokémon-like) monsters, arm them, and make them work for you.
What makes Palworld special? What is cooler than Pikachu? If your answer to this question is also simply “Pikachu with a machine gun,” then Palworld could be your game of the year 2023 as well. But let’s start from the beginning.
It works like the spiritual predecessor, where you first weaken them in battle and then throw a “Sphere.” This wobbles three times, and the Pokémon Pal is captured. The battles themselves, however, do not take place in rounds or instances, but simply in real-time in the open world.

What are the core features? Apart from the unusual way of capturing the little companions, you can do a lot with them in Palworld. The game offers you practical options, such as riding and flying on different Pals, but also macabre ideas.
For instance, you can arm your buddies and make them fight for you, send them to work in mines and factories, cross them to create new Pals, or even, if it comes to the worst, eat them.
According to the developers, “slaughtering” Pals, capturing endangered Pals, or other malevolent methods are prohibited by in-game law. However, they say just a few sentences later: “It’s not illegal if no one sees it,” presumably to tease your moral gray area a bit.
In gameplay, this all boils down to 9 core features, which are as follows:
Survival – In the world of Palworld, there are malicious Pals, nasty people, and harsh conditions. Weather and hunger, among other things, will cause you trouble. Here, the mechanic comes into play that you can eat your Pals in case of emergency.
Exploration – By utilizing the abilities of various Pals, you can fly, swim, ride, and even dig underground.
Base building – Palworld is said to come with a comprehensive building system where you can create all sorts of different constructions. Your cute critters will work hard on your construction site. The developers kindly point out that there are no labor protection laws for Pals.
Life – Overall, your long-term goal should be to lead a quiet life with your Pals and make yourself comfortable.
In your factory, the poor little guys have to toil
Farming – Yes, here you can build your own farm. Various Pals are said to have abilities like sowing seeds or watering flowers. Some of the colleagues should even be able to clone themselves when you plant them.
Automation – Once your base, along with farms and factories, is established, you can start automating workflows. To do this, you simply place Pals in your facilities. According to the developers, “they will work forever as long as you feed them.”
Dungeons – Dungeons are expected to become a staple, and one of the places where you can expect challenging battles. Diverse boss enemies will also await you, demanding a lot from you and your Pals.
Breeding and Crossing – In a dedicated menu, similar to Pokémon, you can hatch Pals. However, in Palworld, you can mix all sorts of different monsters to create the strongest Pals.
Poaching and Crime – In the world of Palworld, there are protected zones where endangered Pals live. It is illegal to catch them here. However, if you don’t care and don’t get caught, you can make a lot of money from it.
By the way, you can do all this together with your friends, because Palworld can be played entirely in multiplayer. However, how many people can travel together is currently still unknown.

Survival game on Steam mixes Pokémon and shooter – Reminds of familiar pocket monsters with its creatures
The bad Pokémon is partly to blame for my love of Palworld
While Palworld is not tied to a Switch and will be released for PC and Xbox, it plays in a completely different league in terms of graphics and performance. The world feels alive, colorful, and authentic. None of this I could feel in the last Pokémon attempts, which is of course sad on one hand, but it also gets me incredibly excited about Palworld. But that is certainly not all.
I like the step that Palworld takes further than its spiritual predecessor. The game offers me so many possibilities to do exciting things and does not end when I have caught all Pals and defeated all gyms. Instead, I can build my base, automate it, and continue to tinker in many areas.
I believe it will be really good because Palworld is not from completely unknown developers. The project is backed by the Japanese developer studio Pocket Pair. They have been active since 2015 and have released the successful multiplayer survival game Craftopia, among others.
Craftopia combined Zelda with Diablo and worked excellently. It was released in September 2020 in early access, where it remains to this day. Nevertheless, 82% of the over 14,000 Steam reviews are positive and show that Pocket Pair knows how to do open world, crafting, and base building right.
I am looking forward to Palworld because it is something completely different. The game does not reinvent any of its game mechanics and has certainly borrowed most of its ideas from somewhere, but it mixes them together so well that something entirely new emerges. Something that definitely has the potential to be my game of the year.
By the way, Palworld does not have a release date yet. Steam only notes that the game is expected to be released in 2023. MeinMMO will keep you updated on this, of course.

In an insider report about Redfall, it is stated that the employees of the development studio had hoped that Microsoft would cancel the shooter before its release.
What is Redfall? With Redfall, the developer studio Arkane, known for single-player gems like Prey and the highly acclaimed Deathloop, took a step into the world of multiplayer: Redfall became a co-op shooter where up to four players fight against numerous vampires in a small town and try to eliminate the nasty creatures.

In a new report on the American site Bloomberg.com, Schreier addressed the failed shooter Redfall and contextualized some statements made anonymously by individuals involved in the development.
The report mentions numerous employees who left Arkane during the development of Redfall, changing plans regarding the shooter, and the hope of some employees that Microsoft would cancel Redfall before its release.
What exactly does the report say? Jason Schreier writes: People who worked on Redfall told him about an unclear direction for the game, frequent staff layoffs, and a constant lack of personnel.
Some experienced employees are said to have left the studio because they had no interest in developing a multiplayer title. According to Bloomberg, 70% of the employees who contributed to Prey left the studio during the development of Redfall.
Overall, morale at Arkane is said to have suffered at that time, Schreier writes. When Microsoft acquired ZeniMax in September 2021, the parent company of Bethesda and Arkane, some employees even hoped that Microsoft would cancel Redfall or reboot it as a single-player game.
Microsoft, as we know, did not cancel Redfall. On the contrary, it was presented as the final reveal at the Xbox Showcase in June 2021 and released as a multiplayer title.

What is the significance of this date? xQc abruptly ended a stream on May 15 for unknown reasons. Viewers therefore suspect a connection between Adept’s hints and the stream’s abrupt end.
The 27-year-old did not directly address his ex’s hints, only explained in his own stream that he would “not take the bait.” He had heard some “disastrous, completely disturbed things,” but would not say anything about it; time will tell.

Good morning, brave slicers! The release is still proceeding without major issues for many players. However, the PS5 version continues to have problems and is generating an error:
“No valid license” / Error 315306 on PlayStation:
Developer statement from March 2023: “Unfortunately, it is a known issue caused by server problems on our end. There is unfortunately no solution you can implement as a player here. We can only ask for your patience until it is resolved.”

The CEO of Activision Blizzard (Call of Duty, WoW) has now addressed the sexism scandal that his company has been confronted with since 2021 in an interview. The boss of Activision Blizzard, Bobby Kotick, has stirred up controversy with an interview. Employees are responding to some of his statements, including a former developer of World of Warcraft. He says he was fired for a rather strange reason.
Who is the developer?
Eric Covington worked at Blizzard from May 2014 to March 2023. Just before his 9th anniversary, he was fired.
At WoW, Covington was involved in Warlords of Draenor, Legion, Battle for Azeroth, Shadowlands, and Dragonflight, and designed various systems, including enemy design and content in the world. One of his projects was the new area in Patch 10.0.7.
Covington also contributed to Diablo, having worked on Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls and the new Diablo 4.
Why was he fired? As Covington explained in a tweet, he wrote a few lines for the dialogue of the Goblins of Venture Co. These goblins are part of an extremely greedy association that wants to exploit everything without regard for the environment.
Accordingly, these NPCs often come across as quite unsympathetic and only concerned with their own advantage. The lines include statements like:
“Let’s call it a cost of living adjustment!”
“Sounds like a new yacht for me!”
“No sharing of profits!”
“Time to go back to the office!”
“Another record for the quarterly report!”
According to Covington, these lines were meant to be just general corporate speak that one might expect from particularly ruthless companies. After the submission for new lines was closed, he returned to developing Dragonflight.
The management of Activision Blizzard, however, was so incensed by the lines that they decided on his termination behind his back without giving him a chance to change anything.

Interview with Bobby Kotick causes criticism
Covington shared his story on Twitter after a new interview with Bobby Kotick, the CEO of Activision Blizzard, was released. In an interview with Vanity, Kotick claimed that there had been a “malicious distortion” of Blizzard’s image in recent years since he has been running the company.
After the interview, other voices also emerged, such as Dylan Snyder, a Senior Designer at Blizzard for Overwatch 2. He explained on Twitter: everyone at Blizzard wants the public to know about Activision’s nonsense.
And Activision punishes everyone in the Blizzard team by talking nonsense about the things he and his colleagues have worked tirelessly on.
Snyder did not speak out to pander to Activision but because he believes in his colleagues and “Team 4” (the internal name for the Overwatch department).
