The right preparation can benefit many activities in Pokémon GO. A trainer shows how he prepares for a monster that may never appear.
If you want to participate in events in Pokémon GO, the right preparation can make a huge difference. Whether it is suitable counters for strong bosses or sufficient items for Community Days.
A trainer shows on Reddit how he prepares for the release of a strong monster. And it’s not even certain if and when it will appear at all.
7 Researches, 1 Goal
How does the trainer prepare? As the trainer shows in his post, he has collected 8 special researches over the past years and has not completed them yet. One of the researches is the special research for Marshadow from last year, while the other 7 are Rocket researches.
What do the researches yield? In each of the special researches, you can receive a Super Rocket Radar during the course of the research. The researches were released during Rocket events. However, the trainer has not completed the researches, but has collected them.
If you haven’t completed the 1st step of a Rocket research yet, you can save the Super Rocket Radar and redeem it at another event when a more interesting Crypto boss is part of the event for you.

What is the trainer collecting for? As the trainer mentions in the title of the post, he is waiting for Crypto-Rayquaza or a comparably good monster. While all legendary monsters from Generation 3 are available in the game, Rayquaza is the only one that has not yet appeared.
When or if the monster will ever appear in its Crypto variant has not been known yet. It remains to be seen whether the trainer can redeem the special researches for it. If so, he can directly collect 7 additional specimens.
Can the strategy be replicated? If you also still have special researches in the 1st step that yield a Super Rocket Radar during the course, you can also save these.
At the next Rocket event, you will no longer receive the Super Rocket Radar in a special research, but as part of the event GO Pass. If this procedure continues in the future, you will no longer have the opportunity to stash special researches and the associated Super Rocket Radars. Whether you can stash Super Rocket Radars from a GO Pass is not yet known.
The upcoming Rocket event starts already at the end of April. Besides the Rockets, there are additional contents that await you in the last days of the current month in the game. If you want to know what they are, then feel free to check our overview with all events in April 2026 in Pokémon GO.
